Phone randomly hard locking. - Galaxy S I9000 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I have the galaxy s from bell, and randomly the phone will hard lock. The screen will stay in whatever mode it was in at the time, on or off. Currently running jh2, with the sl4l lag fix.
At first I thought it was Ireader but even on the reboot after that with nothing started up manually (thus no I reader) it will lock up. Usually after the second restart it will be good for a while.

[Q] How can I fix Lock Screen?

The lock screen on my wife's Captivate has stopped working. It doesn't require you to swipe. If you set an unlock pattern, it doesn't require that either.
If you short press the power button the screen goes off. However, if you press the power button again, the phone returns to where she was without prompting for the unlock. If you let it time out, the screen goes off. However, once again, pressing the power button goes right into the phone.
I have tried requiring a unlock pattern, not requiring one, changing it, changing the screen time out. I have also switched back to TouchWiz from Launcher Pro.
I rebooted the phone and that fixed the problem for a couple of days. Now the problem is back.
This phone is a pure virgin, only 2 weeks old. It's not rooted. It is build 1010. It's running stock JH7.
I also have a Captivate and have never experienced this problem. I'm suspecting perhaps one of the apps that she is using. The irony is that I have often thought this might be a desirable mode.
Any ideas?
Thanks,
Rich
Any apps installed? There us an app in the market called no lock I think that will do that as a feature

After writing that question it got me thinking. I decided to install ATK and kill one app at a time to see if killing any of the apps would fix the problem.
Sure enough, I figured out that it appears to be Tango that is misbehaving. Once I killed Tango, the phone lock worked again. I started Tango back up and the screen lock continued to work. I then made a Tango video call. After ending the video call I tried the lock screen again. Bam! It no longer locks. I kill Tango and the lock is again restored.
For some reason Tango doesn't affect my Captivate (build 1006). I'm not sure why it affects my wife's.
Who says ATK isn't necessary?

[Q] Samsung Galaxy S i9000 screen pops up randomly help needed

When I go to use my phone I press the power button to bring up the lock screen my phone then shows a black screen followed by the start up screen (that has Samsung Galaxy S GT-i9000 on it) sits there for about 3-4 seconds and goes to the lock screen! It is then laggy while it reads my micro SD again.
Basically it acts as if I have just turned it back on.
I'm running stock 2.3.3 with root and setCPU.
setCPU is set to 1000max 800min (is this okay to use this way?)
I'm a moron when it comes to my phone and need help!
This is what I would do.
First remove your SD and see if the problem goes away. A faulty MicroSD caused the same symptoms before to me in the past.
If that doesn't work then I'd factory reset it since it may be an app causing the issue, and install only known apps with no issues.
Best of luck...

Thanks man that actually makes sense, It would happen on my old phone too every now and then! Honestly never thought about the sd card!
I would put setCPU back to defaults. Sounds a bit like sleep of death (SOD) which can be caused by UV settings

Screen Randomly Turns On

Stock phone 4.1.2. Not rooted.
Last few days phone has been playing up. Screen will turn on by itself. Sometimes won't charge. Will turn to landscape view without turning phone.
Have done factory reset but screen will still turn on if phone is just sitting on table. No wakelocks either.
Anyone else had this?

[Q] Lock Phone - Can't Use Buttons & Wake It Up Again

So for some reason, randomly, I will lock my phone and not be able to unlock it or get the screen to come back on.
So I will lock my phone - come back - screen will be off - can't press any keys (home, power, volume) and get a response. Notifications and stuff still happens. I have to hold the power button in which the screen flashes (a line shoots across the screen, disappears and then Galaxy Note 3 shows up).
any recomendations?
That's not even close to right. I would be taking it back to where I bought it.

This must be a software issue. I've had this happen to me as well. Only once in the last two weeks. Seemed to happen when locking and unlocking repetitively.

Yeah, sometimes it wont happen for a long time. Sometimes it will happen repeatedly.
I dont know if related, by Knox keeps saying something about software trying to access information every time I reboot. I have no idea WHAT app its talking about because it doesnt freakin tell me.
Happened once and can assure you its a software issue. If it continues to be a problem I would recommend a factory reset.

Phone Locking Up Issue (2 Phones)

Both my wife and I have the S5 att. We don't do anything custom on the phones, my wife plays a few games and I use mine mainly for emails and Web browsing.
Here lately, both of our phones will lock up while using them. The screen will be on and it just freezes. You can click the power button and it will go black, and back on when pressed again. You can't restart the phone, you must pull the battery.
Hers doesn't while mainly texting and mine while waking the phone up.
Any thoughts.

Ive had mine lock up similarly, twice. When mine does it, it freezes, i hit the power button, screen goes black. However, when i hit it again, the screen stays black. The capacitive buttons light up, they go back out if i hit it again, and yet again, if i hit it they come back on. Ive let it sit for about 10 minutes but still in the end would up pulling the battery.
No power saving mode. I restart mine every other day, my wife not so much.

Mine has done the same. Only once though. I went to unlock it and the water drop touch sound was going off like I was touchtouchtouchtouchtouchtouch like 10-15 times. Holding down power gave me the restart/power menu but touching it was non responsive. It kept swapping itself from the home screen to the screen setting menu (that you get when you long hold the open app button) .. I set it down for about 5-6 minutes and left it alone and it finally fixed itself. Very strange. Ive been running 100% stock out of the box since I got it last weekend.

Same problem as this http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2726029
Extraordinarily frustrating, i'm on the verge of sending my second phone back as well, just to get the point across. I have to pull my battery 2-3 times a day.
Ive had this issue a couple times, it seems to be triggered for me by the use of some functions within apps, in my case the facebook app brought on a crash, which I needed to pull the battery
