I'm having trouble with Fring when i used
I9000TGYJH1
and
I9000TGYZSJP2
when i call someone, i can hear them, but they can't hear me.
have problem with the test call too... i can hear the voice from the machine but i hear nothing when it tried to play back the 10 seconds recorded message.
anyone using Fring and have not problem? can i know which firmware are you using? or how to solve this problem?
i'm on JM6 and don't have any problems with fring.
Thanks, but JM6 is an 2.1, and I'm hoping to upgrade to 2.2 Froyo... Since I'm currently in Solomon Islands, and I have very limited bandwidth here, can anyone tell me if I9000XXJP3 works OK with Fring? or any Froyo working OK with Fring? each megabyte here cost USD0.15 to USD0.20...
probably best if you wait for an official release in that case.

I'm sure this has been asked before, and probably answered, but I didn't notice anything recently.
Has anyone found a way to decrease that time it takes between selecting the contact and actually dialing out? Some days mine takes a good 30 seconds before it dials, and that's by far my biggest annoyance with 2.1 right now
Try zen's slide rom, dials out for me in 4-5 seconds for me, every time

so there's no way to change the time it takes to dial out through code or anything like that? I like the ROM I have now lol
No it's a problem with all 2.1 sprint based roms, unfortunately. Live a little, try the slide rom, out darch droid, or the upcoming froyo

it's not that I don't want to try it, it's that I don't like the way it looks (can't stand espresso) and rarely have the time to modify it the way I like. And the froyo is far from being an everyday ROM (chances are I'll try it out when it's good enough to be an everyday worker).
You could try dialer one in market, I've hard it works well but have not tried it myself.

i don't think dialer one will help if he is having the same problem as me... dialing works fine, but once you hit call it can take up to 10 seconds to actually connect at times. i was hoping to get the actual phone.apk from another rom on the stock rom, but no luck yet.
That is not an issue with this: [ROM] Sprint 2.27.651.6 STOCK Deoxed w/A2SD Update 3 |6/22/2010|
Out going calls and incoming calls are all very quick.
Maybe if you take the phone.apk and the dialer.apk from it?

not a bad idea, might have to give it a shot. Not sure it'll work as I imagine there's a bit more to it, but it'd be worth a shot (after making a backup obviously). I'll have to give it a try tomorrow when I've got nothing else to do
let me know how this goes as i have the same issue.
in for the answer to this too. I tried making a call today it took over a minute and a half to dial out, i was about to throw my phone in the woods.
I have upgraded my phone to 2.2 from 2.1 and when I make a phone call I can no longer listen to the caller with my headphones. I do not have headphones with a microphone I just wear my headphones and talk though the phone. This was good for when I was listening to music and I had to take a call, I did not have to remove them.
I have seen other threads like this for other phones but none for the Captivate and no one seems to know the answer for this. Does anyone know why this would change, and this was with the I897UCJI6 - Froyo firmware.

It is listed as a 2.2 issue for captivate. If you read through the big 2.2 issues thread you will find it.
Thanks for the reply, I saw that but was hoping there might have been a fix somewhere for it. Oh well I guess I will have to wait for a fix.

Not as of yet.
Rather than opening a new thread... I'll bump this one. Solution found?
would be interested to know the answer...
the stock headphones seem to work well but can no longer send the audio with any sort of volume through my car speakers
Until we get a non-beta build, we will probably be stuck with this issue.
Now that froyo officially got released for the captivate, has this been resolved?

Where did you get that information? There is no official Froyo for our phones yet.
Hey Guys... So after updating to official froyo how is the new experience for everyone?
Few for my part...
1. MTP Application Error seems to have been fixed even with a file extension of length more than 16
2. The Mass Storage option while connecting to a computer has changed
3. But speed hasnt changed on a scalable level from previous
4. Still some Applications need force closing
5. Many more applications starting automatically
I think theres a big improvement on my device. I have a ton of apps and lag is very minimal. GPS was really poor at first but recently using the google nav app its been REALLY good. I really don't know why though. Even when I change route it takes like 2 seconds to recalculate and show where am going.

Sent from my GT-I9000 using XDA App
immediately after i flashed it was fast as hell .....i was thinking maybe no lagfix needed .....untill i installed a few apps, then it became unuseable, maybe even worse than eclair ....or rather, most of the phone is quite fast, but certain apps are veerrry slow
Yeah. I have also installed a lagfix. Without it would be nearly unusable.
Too bad.

its first realease of Froyo. Still samsung need to work on performance tuneing and more stable version of froyo......
i have just discovered that the camera firmware is MUCH better on JPO than it was with JM2
I went from jm9 to jpo yesterday. I am still wondering whether to stay with froyo or go back to eclair. Eclair is definitely faster and the gps fixes were in the latest releases of eclair, I had no problems with the gps in the latest eclair versions, it still wasn't what I would call a great phone gps but was good enough for most things.
The memory usage for the browser is horrific on froyo and the browser crawls compared to the eclair one, a bit disappointing.
Market in froyo is super fast, nice.. but not a big thing really because I dont spend that much time in the market. I'd prefer having a faster browser.
Froyo does bring a few nice things but its definitely not wow like I was expecting after hearing so many people moan about it being delayed etc.
Flash? its so slow its not even worth it. Maybe when dual core cpu's come out flash might be better but I can kind of see why apple didn't bother with it now heh.
Hopefully we are going to see Samsung keep releasing new versions of froyo like they kept doing with elcair and they will get better and better but for now.. Im seriously thinking of heading back to eclair.
I dont know how the hell the samsung company can t make a froyo that has no bug or problem, and the guys from htc did that with no problem. I have a htc desire with froyo updated via ota and i have no problem very fast and stable.

How so? Faster picture taking? Less noise? Do share...
After the update, everything was quicker, but the email app which is link to an exchange account is really slow.
Then I did a full wipe/factory reset, everything is very fast now, no lag at all.
with Stock JPO firmware.
Can anyone please confirm if the mic recording has improved when recording video ( loud noises ) ?

better focus, better compression settings, resulting in higher quality, sharper images
......although vignette still takes images at twice the quality with less noise, (tradeoff being the very slow speed)

As experienced in the Accessorie section, loud noise limitation are more likely hardware related.
There's a workaround (external microphone) wich will give you results way ahead of any phones (original's mic)
Slow exchange gmail
Hi
After my update to froyo my exchange email has become very very slow.
CPU is using more than 40 o/o to run the gmail app. ( no sync.)
Anybody els facing the same problem ?
Hi
I installed JPA ... and I must confess that's the worst experience I ever had with a FW.
I can't count anymore the number of FC and the lag has reach some level never reached before.
The mail is so laggy that once ... after waiting for the refresh I tried to go back ... .nothing .... nothing ... and my account was gone. I had to recreate it.
I installed the DOCRambone 7.6.rom and the lagfix no RFS + ext4 and it doens't really change my feeling about the lag. For instance when I open my mail it takes few second to appear and when it appears it is forzen for 5 to 10 sec more ( I can open a mail , I can scroll the folder bar on the top ...)
I didn't try yet the GPS , I installed cardio trainer so next time I run I will do a quick test. I don't know why but I'm pretty sure it won't be nice to see
Hey guys,
After JVK update I've been having this problem with delays in answering calls. The call wouldn't be answered for about 2 seconds even after sliding the answer call button. I have pure JVK, 512 pit and bootloader. No root or etc.
Is there anyway for me to fix this? It's so damn irritating..
Have you done anything to the ROM after installing it? I'm running XXJVK and don't have this issue.

Question revised.
Very strange bro, if you haven't modified the ROM in anyway I'm at a loss. I'm assuming you didn't use a custom ROM. I flashed the version with the bootloader so don't know if that made any difference.
I can confirm that!
STOCK JVK
+1 to that
Also when I'm calling somebody I cant hear the initial "hello", we end up helloing each other like dumbnuts...
STOCK JVK
//edit: F.... double
Yes, for me that problem aswell, and it was with 2.3.2 rom aswell

I have made a small research and it seems all 2.3.3 phones (Nexus one, HTC) have this problem. And there is an app at the market named: Call Delay Patch. I did not try it yet. In fact I do not want to try! Because it is the basic function of a phone to be able to answer a call! You should not install some third party app to do that! Do you hear me Google!
i have exactly the same problem, this might be a bug, but why some of us have it, and some dont?

It's officialy Google not Samsung. Google admited the bug at last.
Maybe the reason Google pulled the JVK update...
If you're having the call delay problem, especially on a device that is not the Nexus One, please star the issue here:
http://code.google.com/p/android/issues/detail?id=16230
This is a known bug with Gingerbread, that Google recently declined, saying it was "device specific" (to the Nexus One).
However this problem is also being reportedly widely on the HTC Desire, as well as Samsung Galaxy devices. I have posted a new issue above and not attributed it to a specific device.
Please comment and star this issue. And please specificy especially if your device is not the Nexus One, so that Google gets this message that this is a widespread Gingerbread bug, which has nothing to do with the device.
Thanks.
The Google employee following up on the call delay issue, in the Google support forums, is asking people to fill out the following form, to gather information about how people are affected and on what devices.

oovoo sucks...lol. No, I am in the same boat. I think that one of the "bug fixes" in the update was that it had been running on "unsupported" devices like the streak 7. Hopefully they will fix it soon. They are really the only game in town for people to videochat device to computer for those lower than gingerbread.
