So I'm able to sync my contacts using the Facebook for Android app rather than the HTC version through friendstream. I've heard friendstream uses a lot of battery for some reason.
However, when looking at my messages (sms mms etc) it shows the contacts picture but not my picture from facebook. It just leaves one of those standard silhouettes.
Is there any fix to this? I know the HTC Facebook will link that automatically (even though it's been disappearing and I've had to resync it every so often)
In your contacts (People) you should have a contact card for yourself. Set your picture there and it will show up in your SMS threads.

Thanks for the help, but I wouldn't be able to link that to facebook though, that's just setting a picture. Facebook for HTC automatically links the picture through Facebook. Any way to do this on Facebook for Android? Or should I just be giving up because the Facebook for Android app is severely lacking?
Hi i have problem about the 2 applications, cause when i sync the both of em(People -> View-> Options), Facebook resulted to 607 contacts, while on the Facebook for HTC Sense resulted to only 601 contacts? why can't FB on HTC Sense get the same number of contacts? What should i do?thanks!

Not sure about the discrepancy. But FB on HTC Sense does a better job than Facebook sync. FB on HTC Sense stores contact photo in separate DB thus retaining resolution while Facebook sync stores photo in default Android contact DB and resolution will be degraded after gmail sync.
I've setup my hotmail account on my HTC One. I have pictures for many contacts - but only some of those pictures are shown. Why is that?
Hi!
Just got my hands on a Xperia Z1 and I am very impressed with it!
I've always had android phones and I'm used to the OS etc, however I'm having problems with my contacts not being synced to their Facebook accounts, specifically the pictures.
Previously the pictures automatically synced with each contact, so I get a nice picture on my contact list and messages, however this isnt the case now! I've synced with FB and had no success at all, so i'm wondering if there is a simple fix for this that I'm not doing?
Apologies if this is a subject that is getting repeated!
Thanks in advance! :good:
What FB-sync did you use? Facebook's own app or Sony's Xperia with Facebook account functionality?
The latter allows you for syncing the photos of your contacts, while Facebook's own application doesn't. Just go to the accounts and add a "Xperia with Facebook"-account.
I just setup my z3c yesterday. All my contacts are synced with their photos, in the contacts app. However when I receive a call, I get a blank photo. Others seeing same behaviour or???
Nope seeing photos of all when receiving calls

My experience is that the caller ID photo is not displayed when it's from Facebook or Twitter. It only displays a photo when manually selected. I
That probably explains it. Most of the pictures are FB or LinkedIn. What a fail. It works properly on my Moto X.

My pictures are synced from Facebook.

Solution found, with a bonus. I deleted the "Xperia with Facebook" sync plug-in, and turned off contact sync inside FB. I then downloaded two apps from the Play Store I've used before - Uber Sync and Facebook Calendar Sync. These both work perfectly. Uber Sync has the added bonus of high-res FB contact pictures (the built in FB contact sync is low res). Caller ID now pics up the high res photos when I receive a call.
Thank you!

Thanks, I was searching for a solution about these low-res profil pictures :good:
Where do you delete "Xperia with Facebook" sync plug-in though?

It's in the Accounts section in Settings, *if* you already set it up.

For those, who still looking for solution - after phone update to 23.0.1.A.5.77 facebook photos shown as caller id picture by default, without any tricks or 3rd party apps
Sorry for waking up the old thread, but this issue came back (at least to me) again, after the upgrade to 23.1.A.0.726. Anybody else facing this issue? Ideas?
I recommend Sync.Me app for Facebook / Linkedin contact photo sync :good:
Thanks, but i prefer the original solution, without 3rd party programs...
