CM6 stable here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=722798

Sweet, thanks for the links. I was having a few issues but it could be because of a bunch of reasons. Seems fine this time round. I don't mind after what I've put upwith on symbian for years.
Wipe flash restore is so easy with android. And no pc required!

question on CM Updater

so i had just rooted my g1 using the old method here
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=553416
is it possible to install the cm updater on that setup, and download the latest cm rom with the updater and have it flash it for me?
also, does the cm rom use the newer or older app store?
tia... im new to linux and android, wm for 5 years and its quite a bit differant
Im a noob so I can't answer your first q but My CM 4.2.8 has Market version 1620.
well according to a guy in the comments section
http://androidandme.com/2009/12/news/new-android-market-is-carrier-specific/
the update is also being pushed to rooted roms. I might have not gotten it yet because I don't have data (I use wifi)
also, you aren't notified of the update but you can uninstall it by going into the settings->apps->market->uninstall updates

FIXED
well that was easy...
just follow the instruction on the cyan wiki for flashing from a different rom to 4.2
simples
This same thing will happen if you flash cm5 and then try to nandroid or switchrom back to a previous rom. It'll hang on the G1 screen. Make sure you wipe and you'll be fine.
Could you be more specific on what guide you used I can't find what your talking about on CM website. I'm having the same issue only I can only get JesusFreke Rom to work. I'd like to put CM or ANY other ROM on my phone, JF ROM slowly causes my Answer, Home and Back keys to stop working...

I'll give you the gist of what the guides tell you.
Follow the OP and flash the defanged base first: http://www.mediafire.com/?nymkxjmndzd
Flash the rom.
The fact people are having problems with months after this has been commonplace for flashing Cyanogen roms gives me almost no hope for the future.
Alright Thanks
This does not belong in the development section. Moved.

New Rooting My Nexus

I have a Nexus for a couple of months, last week I downloaded the Universal Androot to root my phone and works great now I have more apps to use, now I want install the last Cyanogen rom to shoot 720p video. I also downloaded ROM Manager from the market but I don't know what to do.
My question are: What I have to do next? There's a application to shot 720p video without change the ROM?
Thanks
Sent from my Nexus One using XDA App
No, that's a rom level change.
Use ROM manager, download cyan ROM. It will ask you to backup first, do that so you can return to your phone as it is now just in case. Then let it do its thing and enjoy the new ROM.
At that point when you're running cyan, read thru all the threads in development section, and themes, and get to work flashing away
Also click to download Google Apps too. Click to wipe and back up and Rom Manager takes care of the rest. CM6 RC3 it awesome, have fun.
Hi everyone
I did all you told me to do and now I have my Nexus with Cyanogen 6.0 running thanks for the help.

Haven't tried CM's final release yet but I'm sure looking forward to it!

[Q] Can you help an idiot out please!

Hi all,
So yes, I'm a prat. A massively lucky one. Earlier in the day, I managed to successfully root and upgrade the firmware on my Samsung Galaxy Note GT-N7000 to CM9, specifically cm-9.1.0-n7000.zip from the Cyanogenmod website. I got it working, and all was happy, shiny and right with the world.
And then, it all went Pete Tong when I tried to flash gapps-gb-20110828-signed.zip on it, which promptly tried to make it go back to the stock firmware, and then it soft-bricked. I managed to recover from this minor boo boo, but I would love to know how I get my Google and Facebook contacts on there... any hints?

Hmmm? I'd start all over.
Is there a reason why youre using CM9? [since CM10.1 is out and pretty stable].
Anyway, the Gapps you installed was meand for Gingerbread [GB] [CM7] and CM9 is based on IceCreamSandwich [ICS].
If you decide to use CM10.1 which is Jellybean [4.2] youll need to use the latest JB based gapps with that.
Anyhow, if you use the proper gapps and sign into your google account on the first boot, itll synchronize with the google server and recover your google contacts. [it probably didnt work because as you said yourself the wrong gapps was installed.]
About facebook: Im not a bookfacer myself but i reckon when you install the facebook app, the contacts will be [MAGICLY] added to your contact list.
Goodluck!

I'm using that as CM doesn't appear to have a stable monthly build for my device on 10 or 10.1. I managed to finally get the right version of GApps, and they've come down, so many thanks. So that said, can you suggest a decent stable ROM? Unfortunately my Googling for this isn't up to par, as I'm not quite sure what to look for. Yes, I'm a n00b.
try this http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1365587
its cassie's xtralite ROM.stable and fast

I think if you look around in android development youll find quite some interesting roms.
Most if not all roms are pretty much always under construction; however that does not mean theyre not stable enough to use as a daily driver.
That being said, i myself am quite happy and impressed by Paranoid Android 3, which is based on Android 4.2.2(JB).
Make a backup using cwm recovery and just give it a try.
Goodluck.

cleanup, reflash cm9 n7000 version and then the right gaps for your device, cm9 is ics, also dont restore any backups, just start new.
cleanup on safe kernel btw
Try this one.. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2137182

Many thanks to all above... much appreciated! A friend suggested Jellybam, which is working like a dream and much faster than anything Samsung put together. Happy as Larry!
Well, once I turned the bottom nav bar off anyways.
Cheers,
Jim

[Q] Slimkat ROM 4.4.2 beta weekly

While discussing this custom rom in other roms' threads, I came across one for the MB886 with CN localization.
I was able to download it and flashed. But before doing so, looked at the archive and noticed it had a /data directory with suspicious apps in it. So I wouldn't really recommend anyone actually flashing it for use until someone with knowledge took a look at it.
Interestingly enough, it does flash and seems to be working, I cleared data/wiped before booting it.. Take note that it's is not officially supported by slimkat nor is it available on their site.
EDIT: We have a working rom now thanks to Technofreak, check it out here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=49622265
I finished compiling it to see how it goes. Will post ROM if is good.

Mobile Data is not even working for me. Yes it does have trojans and I woudnt download this rom. Did Data worked for you when you installed this crap? Ok I went Further guys this is actually a build for xt907 devices and NOT mb886.
Please delete the Links to this Chinese Rom from this forum and from the Cyan thread. THis Rom Contains Applications that require payments from the Google Play and its Developers. It contains apps like
Android Tweaker PRO
Root Explorer
NexMusic +/Plus
and others
Ok to my Fellow forum friend @clockcycle and others wanting this ROM I have made an Modified version out of this Chinese Rom which works 100% without any lag and is working great. I will make a thread for this one and there is also and right now is the one I use as it looks lots as Validus without much Clowns as @skeevydude like it. lol
Seen very solid to me and is my and will be my daily drive (For now) lol
Also there is one I compile together but since time limits I havent been able to test it. This one should have more options and few then other fixes to options that came after my Modified version
Will explain more at the Developers thread

Yea I was really surprised to how lite "SLIM" the CN version of the rom was. But didn't trust to install gapps, login or install any apps. I also wiped /data after first flash before the boot. Downloading your version right now.
