I just put a 32GB Sandisk Class 2 MicroSD card in my N1 and tried recording a video in 720p (CM6 ROM) and it doesn't appear to work. The sound records, but all I record is a still image. I know I read that card speed plays a role in the ability to record 720p, but I also saw that the Class 2 Sandisk cards should be fast enough. Any ideas what my problem may be? 720p recording worked with my old card.
Also, I didn't format the card when I first got it. I just installed it and saw 32GB free so I went on my way.
RESOLVED!
No idea why, but I went into recovery and wiped Cache and Dalvik-Cache and it works fine now.
Thanks for mentioning that, I'm having issues with no sound being recorded but the video looks great. I'm going to try wiping the Cache & Dalvik Cache and see if that fixes it.
EDIT:
Wiping the Cache and Dalvik Cache didn't have any effect for me. I was using an older micro sd card and have since upgraded to a Class 10 32 GB card, which works great, still no audio while recording HD video. I'll test wiping the Cache and Dalvik Cache now that I have the new card and see if that does the trick. If not, then I'll take the quality/resolution down little by little until I get sound.
Maybe it does not actually "32GB".

I've had my N1 since launch and love it. recently a few months ago ive had a couple of problems. When recording video, there are a few hiccups where the video freezes for a few seconds but audio still plays and then the pic unfreezes and continues to play. Also the volume skip feature in CM seems to be slow sometimes. i hold the volume button and let it go and it doesnt skip until quite a few seconds later.
Ive been using CM since CM5 and my videos never had that stuttering problem and the volume skip would skip immediately after holding it long enough. I've had these problems from Cm6.1 (but i dont believe ive always had them) and theyre still present in the latest Cm7 nightlies. I've reflashed Cm6, tried CM7, wiped my memory card, played with camera video recording settings, and the problems are still there.
The only things i can think of are its a problem with CM (which i doubt), there is something wrong with the memory card (same card ive always used, class 4 8gig), or my N1 is giving out one way or another ;(
Any input would be appreciate
Did you try other SD cards? and which format are you recording, 720p?
i haven't tried another memory card but tempted to do so. I have a 16 gig but class 2 that i use on my HD2. The recording and volume skip works perfectly on the HD2 with CM7 (the devs have done a PHENOMENAL job).
The video recording is WVGA. I haven't tried any other format. Ill try others too.
Hi all,
right from the start i noticed lags when recording videos with the LGOB - I´ve used 10a at first but then did a reflash with 10.c German. I use Go Launcher EX.
After flashing it seemed the video lags have dissapeared with the freshly installed phone, but now after a while and after i reinstalled all my apps it´s still as laggy as before, no matter if i record HD or TV format.
To me it seems that some background process may interfere with the camera recording... i´ve tried to use Tasskiller to kill all apps before running the video app but it doesn´t help much.
Is that something you just have to live with on the LGOB or is there any hint to correct this? The generel video quility is very ppor to, especially on quick pans lots of blacks are visible in the video image.
Thanks,
Kusie

same here with 10b firmware. today i wanted to record some long jumps and it skips 3 4 secconds. so i have just the landing or just half of the jumps! ( maybe the speed of the sdcard is the problem? I'll try with a class 6 sdcard to see if the problem is solved or not! this is a serious BUG for me!!!
i dont have this issue and i dont see this issue being brought up anywhere... hmm try installing Nova Rom?

I have read several similar complaints about video skipping and lagging on LGOB... right now i don´t want to go through the whole reinstalling process again after switching from 10.a to 10.c and reinstall all my apps and settings, i think that this basic functionality should be OK in the stock Rom, too.

Hi guys i use to have similar prob on v10b but since i updated my phone to v10e eu open every thing is fine and yes even scrolling is better. Video prob is soft prob not hardware or sdcard.

I have video lags on 10e as well...
now my lgob is in service
for dead pixels or subpixles. aprox 5 pixels! i hope that they will change the screen or change the device with another one. ( so 1 or 2 weeks of waiting!
Has this been fixed??! I'm really pissed off! I tried to record a Taekwondo tournament and I missed the best parts because it's skipping! [email protected]#! HELP!
i don't have any problem....i have v10b and stock card 2gb
I have v10e firmware and Class10 card and no video issues. One of these helped, I assume 10e is that good.
The problem is with SD Card.... It doesn't have enough speed to "write" to sd card your video recording... The cache buffer gets full and it needs to "empty - write" to your card before it can record again...
For most of video recordings with this resolution you need a class 6 sd card - minimum!
Best choice... class 10!
Expensive... but it solves this problems!
i have the same problem with both v10a and v10c. now i changed for a class 10 , 16gb sd card, but the bug still remain; and it can't be cuz the quality of sd card, cuz i tested it and i have 13mb/s in write...
Thats weird!! I've tested this with v10a... and v10f and it works in here!
And... the problem you complain its usually caused by card speed as i said...
Sorry to hear that the problem still remains...
I use a class 10 16gb and nova rom and still lags (not like before)

Format the card with 32kb allocation size and try to restart the phone every time you take a bunch of pictures... That seems to solve the prob for me... To make things simple, I just reboot the phone everyday...
Maybe i solved it. I have installed sd card booster from market and set a value of 2048 as adviced , and now seem to be no lag at all...

I was wondering if anyone else is having this problem, my OB seems to freeze 9 out 10 times I try to record something, everything's stock and I haven't changed anything, using adw launcher and whenever I press the record button, it freezes and the timer stays at 0.00 and about a minute later it would skip to 1.00 and the video would be recorded with major stutters and off sync sounds, I'd have to perform a battery pull sometimes as it does not respond to anything at all. Using a class 10 Transcend 16 GB sd and I have formatted the card through the phone but the problem's still there. The problem comes and goes and it seems to work best when I allow it to focus before recording but this does not work most of the time.
Edit: Only happens in 720p mode... Other than that, everything's fine...
Same thing also hapening on my device
Might be related to your actual SD card. Any chance you can get a spare card for a couple of days (even if it is a lower-class one) and try out the recording function? this way you could safely say if it is the card or the phone causing the issue (process of elimination)
Im having this problem too, and i use class 10 card

Try to upgrade the V10X version.
Figured something out, formatted my sd with SD formatter and recorded 3 720p 5 minute videos, smooth without stuttering... And the issue seems to be gone for now... Hope it stays this way... Also, back up any stuff in the card and once it's done formatting, take a pic to let android create the necessary files and copy everything apart from the files created... You can keep your apps and files this way... If you need to have pics in your phone, just put them anywhere but the DCIM folder... I don't know if this has anything to do with the problem at all but that's what I did... Hope this helps
XDA doesn't let me post outside links lol... New user here...
Just search for SD Formatter 3.0 from sdcard.org...
Hi all,
Here's a odd little issue I was wondering whether anyone else was experiencing. I'm running MIUI 1.12.30 and I recently bought a new Micro SDCard for my IncS. Thing is, since installing the SDCard, the phone has been slow to wake from standby - you press the power button to switch the screen on and it takes a few seconds (sometimes up to ten) for the phone to return to its normal responsiveness. Until that point, the phone lags noticeably. This can vary, sometimes you can leave the phone for 1/2 hour and it's fine, other times you leave it for a few minutes and it's laggy.
Anyone else have this issue?
I know miui is fast rom but it is weekly updated n buggy..use niks 3.0 rom..smooth like a g6!

I had no problems with the ROM prior to installing the new SDCard, and I've been using it for a while now.
What class sd card is it? If it has a low read write speed that would be your culprit as certain apps installed to sd card might be lagging you out.

Class 4. Not sure how fast that is, really...?
Out of curiosity why would installing an app to the SDCard cause the phone to lag when unlocked? Wouldn't it lag all the time, or is that not how it works?
Well class 4 and 6 have a read write at about 4mbs while the class 10 that came with your phone is running at approx 10mbs. Roms use system folders undr the android directory on your sd card to log information and most of your google apps are located there as well. I'm not exactly sure all that is stored on your sd card all I know is it effects Rom speed.

I don't have it to hand to check, but I'm pretty sure that the sdcard that came with my phone was a class four or six. I'm pretty certain it wasn't a class 10.

I have miui 1.12.30 and 32g class 4 sandisk card, with no problem. It sounds like your SD card is not working as fast/stable as it should be. What brand is your card and where you bought it? It may not be a genuine class 4 I guess.
By the way, regarding class 10 SD card, I would not recommend it cos most of the class 10 card is built based on the sacrifice of random read/write speed to achieve fasting large file access rate. In other words, while you may find copying music, photos to/from SD card becomes faster, but loading game will be much slower which determined by random read/write speed.

It's a SanDisk, I brought it from Amazon Marketplace. To be honest, a dodgy SDCard was going through my head to. Damn.
I've head that about Class 10 cards, actually. Was probably going to stick with the Class 4.

Yeah I dunno dude thought mine was but I could be wrong, I can guarantee you anything higher than a 4 will perform better than a 4.
If your really concerned weather or not its your SD card you could duplicate them and see what happens with each.
Read this thread http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1150369
You might change your mind. Basically depends on what you store on your card you might need to choose lower class card. Bigger does not always mean better.
I can't comment on amazon, but I had a lot of trouble with counterfeit 32gb microsd cards off ebay.
The cards would appear the right brand and speed, and would be formatted to appear as 32gb, even though the actual size would be far less (512mb etc). Cards would "work" as expected, until you start writing data to the part that doesn't exist.
Try formatting the card and/or speed testing it on a pc to know for sure.

as said, just make sure none of the apps that you run in the background are on SD card, maybe youve moved your lockscreen or home app to SD card by mistake if you arent using the stock MIUI one?
i never put anything on SD card that i use on a regular basis or want access to quickly
Well, incase anyone is remotely interested I bought another SDCard from Amazon, but this time from Amazon.co.uk, rather than from a seller. Not only does it look more legit, but the issue with the lag upon wake seems to have gone.
Looks like the issue was the SDCard being a dodgey one.
Hi,
After recording a video and wanting to watch it, it takes over 5 secs for a video to play. It's like the play button becomes unresponsive. I have been using my phone for over a year, had nearly 6000 pics and videos which I deleted, then factory reset the phone. The videos played faster after reset but after restoring the phone's backup, old apps it's back to the way it was..
I also tried clearing the cache/ data from the gallery and camera app but still the same.
Anyone know what this could be from?
Thanks!
Where are the videos in question stored: on internal storage medium or on external storage medium? Read speed on external storage medium is times lower than on internal storage medium.
Hi,
Thanks for replying so quick!
There is only internal storage on my phone so internal storage..
What video player do you use? Do you keep energy saving profile active?
Using normal energy profile and stock Huawei player, I have no lag(less than 1s, that is). Phone has never been reset in my possession and it's more than half full of apps and files.
