Hi
i wonder if there is a ROM for the G1 that is ported/based on the Sony Ericson Xperia X0 mini Pro?
Maybe it is hard to do because of the different Screen sizes but i recently red about a Root-App that makes it possible to "imitate" higher or lower screen resolutions so maybe if there is no ROM yet someone could find that helpful to create one.

Yes the problem is the ROM contains graphics for QVGA, which will look all funky when upscaled.
I believe setting a higher DPI just makes text smaller and makes graphics smaller on-screen, the problem is to port QVGA to HVGA you'd need to do the opposite.
and what about a timescape port? in a dump i saw it was an apk but couldnt install it
I'd assume it's tied in to SE's framework, besides, the graphics would be all botched up anyway.
and if one used the normal (big screen) xperia x10?

Im Confused about how Device Resolutions work .
i mean like all new htc ppc devices have a 2.8" lcd yet the resolutions are diffrent like the htc touch hermes kaiser gene they all Qvga 240x320 but diamond also 2.8" but it has VGA how does it work.
the one Asus Smartphone has a 2.0" screen but its QVGA or but the HTC 310 and ipaq 500 voice messenger and maybe mpx200 are QQVGA its so flipin confusing.
So is the resolution set through registry or drivers or what? I read in the typhoon section of a Wm6 cooked rom being able to make the htc typhoon resolution to QVGA.

The device resolution is built into the actual screen. The resolution is the number of dots that are found on one row or column of the screen. QVGA has 240x320 dots that make up the screen matrix. VGA (at least) doubles these numbers to 480x640.
If you see devices that have the same SIZE screens (2.8"), but different resolutions, that means the DOTs are different sizes. A VGA screen will often have smaller dots than QGVA, and as such, better resolution that looks clearer to your eyes.
One can use software to emulate a lower-resolution screen on a higher-resolution device, but not vice-versa. So a VGA screen COULD be made to appear as a QVGA screen, but not the other way around.
Hoping this doesn't muddy up the waters for you even more,

in simple terms.
qvga (240*320) will consume same amount of graphic memory be it 2" screen or 2.8" or 3.5" or 1 square kilometre!
lcd screens are built with fixed amount of pixels, but density varies with size and resolution.

Thanks i Get It nw.
Another Question how come all Windowr Mobile device Are 65k none are Greater than that compared to Symbians 16 Million Colours i knw its the os limitation but how ?

It's quite a read, but THIS ARTICLE might help you understand. If you need more, an internet search should turn up quite a bit of information ... especially in some of the digital photography forums.

That Was Long flip
Yeah i get it now bigger not always better but being as that maybe my hp ipaq 514 compared to the 6110 Navigator the nokia looks better but i think its the brightness anyhow 65k is good. Its True what they say knowlage is power so people who dont know are mislead when the told a device is 262k or better thanks man
Since the diamond and Xperia X1 share the same Qualcomm platform and both have probably the same 3.2 AF camera module, can somebody manage how to make diamond record VGA (640*480 30 FPS) video, which Xperia can?
There's a firmware for X1 in X1 subforum, maybe somebody can use it's camera driver or whatever it is in Diamond firmware?
I think we pay a cheaper price for the diamond and as a result we obtain at the end a cheaper product.....the same happens with the Opera version without Flash Lite 3 support and many other things discussed on this forum.
But in some way will be nice to have the possibility to record videos with a bigger resolution.
No, this can not be just about marketing. There must be some HW reason. HTC doesent have reason to make better phone for Sony Ericsson than their best phone aka Touch Pro. Even if is true what you say about Diamond, Touch Pro would have VGA @ 30 FPS record capability, if this is just software thing. Why would HTC do something like this? Just realize, how many even more powerfull phones than Diamond have only QVGA record option. Dell Axim x50v, Asus P535, Even Omnia with brand new Monahan 624 MHz CPU can just [email protected] FPS. Dont tell me that HTC didnt include this option to Diamond and Raphael just becouse of marketing.

Hi pokevitek, HTC does not manufacture devices for SONY, they produce their products using a very strange marketing strategy, just look into the past, troubles with devices like Kaiser and Cruise, which where using the same HW but getting different HTC SW versions , e.g. the camera SW.
HTC made the Xpreia x1 so it has been rumored. designed by sony made by HTC????

HTC is the manufacturer for the Xperia X1. It's just rebranded by Sony Ericsson.

Ok, if so, i'll never understand the kind of marketing strategy HTC is using for.....!!! but the crazy thing is, they have a big success as Smartphone and Pcket PC manufacturer...!!!
htc used to only make devices for other companys
think it's rare now though
I understand licensing the codec to do VGA 30fps recording cost more money, hence HTC never did it.
I think porting the driver is a good strategy that should be pursued
Surur
I think we should port as much as possible from the x1.
Just because we can
Just downloaded the rom...

Do you guys believe we will someday have the new Sense interface from HTC Hero for the Blackstone?
http://www.htc.com/de/press.aspx?id=103534&lang=1033
In this article (only in german, sorry) they say that it will be available also for Windows Mobile:

...dreaming...
/Tommi
yes we can!
lol yes.. i think so but it will sure take some time.. sad but true. altough i am looking forward a lot. android, sense and so on..
You can see it in action here...

The famous multi-touch feature is there aswell.
The Hero looks awesome, but the screen is kinda small.
i was reading up on this on my rss feeds and the article i read said they that are thinkin about possibly porting this over to the windows mobile side which would be nice
in a way it reminds me of pointui a bit but if your lookin for something along those lines for windows mobile right now then ponitui is there
The Sense UI (or as HTC terms it, "user experience") riding a capacitive touchscreen offers a people-centric approach to managing your information that is absolutely dreamy at first blush -- though it shares a lot of TouchFLO heritage. In fact, HTC promises to have a very similar Sense-branded experience for Windows Mobile.
Usually, a new HTC device means new GPU drivers and a few tweaks, but now, we could get a whole new UI! That said, we'll have to wait for a WVGA HTC device with this Sense UI before it will look half-decent on our blackstones.
Half the juice on our phones is taken up by Windows. What would be awesome is if we can port Android. Another interesting thing to note is that Hero has a capacitive screen so I'm guessing it'll be a better experience (with multi touch). All said I can only drool. Wishes and regards to all the great chiefs
I think it includes a software multitouch system, because comparing specs of both devices, in the Screen we see:
HD: 3.8-inch TFT-LCD flat touch-sensitive screen with 480 x 800 WVGA resolution
Hero: 3.2-inch TFT-LCD touch-sensitive screen with 320x480 HVGA resolution
I know that Hero have multi touch because I saw it at the video presentation.
Let's hope that's true

yep, noticed that too and thought the same...
It does have multitouch, I read it in a review
Oi.
Anyone have the actual manufacturer model/part number for the screen the Xperia X1 uses? I'm not talking its Xperia-replacement-part number... Most such parts have an original model num... Though being sony who knows.
If you are wondering XD I have been in the crazy quest to find the highest res 3in screen I can without paying an arm and two legs... with a standard controller on it. The latter part being the insanely difficult part.
Crazy... Crazy questions... ^.^'...
oi....... yerself
you think if you replace the screen of the pda with one which have a higher native resolution it will just change the pda to run at a higher resolution?

Hello Guys,
I am new to android and it's very interesting for me to go through the discussions of rooting and other stuff. Brilliant!!
I just bought wildfire recently and hmm.. resolution is disappointment for me. I despirately need two things:
1. Hack for HVGA resolution.
2. Live wall paper.
It seems live wall paper is possible from my understandin after reading threads though. Is it possible and please advice me on this regard.
Thank you in advance.
Dude, no hack can push things over hardware limits... I m no android developer, but if you need higher resolution look for another android deveice..

check lcd density thread in themes and apps
I already checked lcd density app, but seems doesnt work perfectly.
I duno about you... but i think it will be really really hard for software to alter the hardware of a phone. hvga on the wildfire would be awesome... but not any sooner

i am using LCD Density for root. it works fine for me, on wildpuzzle v8
resolution reverts back to standard after reboot but it takes a few seconds to change again. and i don't reboot that often.
LCD Density changer never worked for me. But LCD Density for root (different program similar name) works fine and allows me to set my density to 100 (where 120 is default density) this certainly changes the resolution, whether it changes it to HVGA i dont know, but it is deffo higher resolution. with launcher pro set to 5 rows and 5 columns i have a lovely looking phone now. just waiting for our super fantastic devs to look into an overclock kernel and i will be set
I think you need to set density to 76 (not sure) to reach HVGA resolution and your screen looks fine though. Thanks for your information.

ahh, i am well off then lol. with LCDDensity for root the lowest you can go is 100.
but like one poster above me said, i spose if you want a HVGA screen you pay the premium price for it. i am happy with my wildfire, i have to be, my wife won't let me buy a new phone for another year! i go through to many apparently. we will see though, if i buy a desire she may not know the difference
Not Possible IMO , Though I have also Worked with LCD Density Changer (Beansoft) Wildfire Looks Good With Density 100 / 110 , Any lower than than and the menu text and the Notification Icons looks Crappy.
We would need Hardware Upgrades (Better LCD) In Order to Increase it :-/ I So wish we had Better screen , Resolution is the worst Issue on Wildfire.
I just tried lcd density changer, 110 setting did nothing and 100 setting screws up the lockscreen slider and makes it laggy.
^^ Do it by small Changes , The Stock Lockscreen looks good at 100/110 , The HTC One Screws up.
I hate the Icons at Notification Bar , at 100 , too Small
true, it was the htc one that screwed, im looking at a mod to disable lock screen altogether though. kept it at 120 and did the 5 columns and 5 rows launcher pro mod.
You guys do realise that it's impossible to get HVGA on a QVGA screen?
LCD Density changer gives effect of Hi-Res Screen, but it makes a lot of apps look worse (Paper Toss is a prime example of this)
All it does is rescale some UI elements, not changes any hardware
LOL , Yeah We know LCD Density is just about "Feel-Good-Factor"

i seeeeeee. i read the full disclaimer now on the lcddensity app and it does say it 'virtually' changes resolution or something similar. it was something new to try anyway, and it looks good i have had the phone for 3 weeks now and i dont think there has been a single night where i havent had it in my hands flashing roms and trying apps.
Oh well. So no other way to make resolution high?
Resolution Can't Increased Without a hardware Upgrade , So No Can Do.
110 seems to look best on the wildfire ... at least for me
