[Q] Nexus One - CM6 questions - Nexus One Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I have a Nexus One with the latest CM6 and yesterday i jus flashed pershoot's 2.6.34.7 xtra kernel. the main reason for me to change the kernel was because of my absolutely bad battery life. the time here is now 3pm, and i unplugged my phone from an overnight charge only at about 11 or 11.30am and it is already at about 60%.
since then all ive done is reply a few msgs, read my emails, check twitter and FB...also my gtalk is always on.. but should this reduce my battery so much?
somedays i charge it, then remove it and move it to another point, or after its charged i plug it in to my laptop to flash somethin or transfer files..could this have reduced the battery life?
is there anything i can do to check the health of the battery or can i get another kernel?

Rapid Battery Drain

Alright, I understand that the G1 is not exactly known for its "amazing" battery life (lots of sarcasm intended), but recently... mainly after I rooted my phone and started installing roms. The battery has been draining in a matter of a few hours with limited use and the rest on standby mode. The CPU is not being overclocked, and I've turned EVERYTHING off, including 3G, WiFi, Location, GPS, I've purchased a battery off ebay that claimed to be a 1700 mah battery to see if it helped, and it actually got worse. And I've tried recalibrating the battery.. (draining it to 0% until it turns off), and then I would keep it on the charger while it's turned off.... is there anything I can do to change this?
P.S. I haven't installed any apps recently that could be draining the battery like this, and i disable auto-sync as well. I've wiped the phone just in case tho
And if not, can anybody recommend a battery for this phone except for the extremely bulky ones that requires a new battery casing for the phone? And where's the best place to buy one?
What rom are you using?
Hero and Eclair roms have massive battery drain.

Right now, I'm using Sense Hero 1.4 and it's amazing. But the drain was also on Cyanogen's 4.2.7.1, though it wasn't as bad, it was close
have you deleted the battery bin file on a fully charged battery, used till it was drained and then fully charged with it cut off?
I did this and it seemed to help, though I admit my battery has been draining really fast lately. I usually will charge it at work and at home.

No I have not tried that. I see an option in Amon Ra's recovery 1.5.2 that says reset battery stats... not sure what that does... but where is this bin file you mentioned?

[Q] battery percentage not accurate

Hi Guys!!
i've done what this link told
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=10092321&postcount=11053
but everytime i reach 100% and unplug the charger, my battery percentage immediately shows 97%, be it charging with the phone off or on....
i already did wipe my battery stats in recovery a few times, the first time only it showed that the stats were wiped, after that every time i wipe the stats, it immediately goes back to the previous menu, without stating whether the wipe was carried out or not....
can someone help this noob out here.... thnx
FYI, i just installed darky's rom v8.0 with Voodoo's kernel 5.2(lagfix disabled)
when i was on stock, my 100% could last me about nearly half an hour
I have this problem too. (I am on Darky 9.02 and have seen it in Darky 8.0 too). BUT if your battery life is satisfactory then don't worry about it.
hows the performance on v9.02 bro?

9.02 is good but then so was 8.00. I personally think 8.00 was faster but its only been a few days and am still experimenting. I may remove the lag fix and still need to see if my battery is draining faster.
Also look at this post: Has some interesting but unverified info about the drop from 100% to 97/98% after unplugging

Do you really want it on 100%? Easy, once it says charged, leave it on the charger for another hour and when you unplugged it should stay 100 for a while

Problem posted hundreds of times along with solutions like search the Rom makers forum and read the posts re this problem for starters .
Simple solution save time and effort is to ignore it .

thanx all for the advices.... tried the QueenAmy method, result is:
heavily used phone: battery 'died' at 2%(???)
charged phone until 100%(phone off)
switched phone on while still charging: 97% (didnt have to unplug charger)
waited...then it went from 97% straight to 100%.(funny)
then went into recovery to wipe bat stats.
rebooted and unplugged charger, battery still at 97%....
now trying to charge a bit more longer to see if can change anything... (fingers crossed)

not working bro...
left it on for about an hour, unplugged, straightaway the percentage drops to 98...
It's just a change in 2.2.1.
In 2.1/2.2, they 'stretched' out the battery life a bit to mark it up to 100%, in 2.2.1 they decided to just show it at the actual value. The reason your battery won't charge to 100% is to prolong the battery life, because if the charger always charged to 100% it would have a high chance of overcharging and damaging your battery over time.
There's no real change in battery life.
I reverted back to 2.2 and still have the problem. Maybe i shouldve flashed on 100% battery... Is it possible to solve if i do another fresh flash with 100% battery?

Just to clarify this, you actually cant over charge the battery on the SGS nor Li-Ion for that matter, what happens here is that the battery goes on trickle charge pre 2.2.1 and battery degrades faster if its kept at 100%, 40% is optimal for storage now with the recent changes the phone will pretend it has charged upto 100% but will stop anywhere from 99~97% yes there is no loss in battery life but dont consider 97% as the new 100%, theres already a 3% loss in this to begin with.

[Q] Bad battery drain, new SGS, tried everything

hello,
i've had my SGS for a little over a week now. from day one i noticed battery drain but i thought it was normal for a new device. i flashed darky's 10.1 extreme on the second day i got it because it was very slow and had a lot of bloatware ( i wasnt very patient and i flashed at 95% or 96% battery), the drain was still there. i let it go through a few recharge discharge cycles and no improvement, so i used an app from the market called "batterycalibration" by marosige, no improvement and it the reading would drop to 99% or 98% after taking it off the charger.
i did a little digging and discovered i had the android os bug (was over 50% usage usually) so i used titanium to wipe software update and samsung account, and froze the first, didnt help by much
i then flashed darky's again at 100%, and now it still reads full charge after removing charger and android os bug i gone (reads 4% system and 4% os), but drain was still there. i emptied it to the point it couldnt turn on anymore then charged it from wall charger while turned off to 100% while i slept
i woke up and tested it by playing a game (Blastmonkeys) for like 20 mins and the battery went down to 90%, that was less than 2 hours ago, and now its at 87% and it was completely idle
notes:
my brightness is turned all the way down with no animations but display reads 54%, wifi is usually on when im home but battery stats show 6% wifi so i dont think its a big problem
also, the device was bought locked in france by someone else and im in egypt, so i dont know anything about warranty..
im sorry for the long post but i tried to be as detailed as possible...
hello, when i upgraded my sgs to 2.3.3 i also got battery drain and android os was consuming hell lot of cpu about 70%,..,.,then i flashed 2.3.4 jvp i didnt get any battery drain in that firmware then i upgraded it to 2.3.4 jvq this also donot have ny battery drain..,,.i recommend u to flash it and try it once
will try, but isnt darky only compatible with JVH? what happens if i change to JVQ?

see jvp and jvq are bug fixing firmwares and i didnt use any custom rom ,..,i have stock firmware which i just rooted and didnt use any mod or rom.,,.,.jvp and jvq are stable roms diffrence between the both is that in jvq browser is improved gallery improvement,.,..,etc
As far as I know, the percentage not being 100% after unplugging is normal. To prevent wear on the battery, the phone cuts the charger after reaching 100%, and restarts charging when it reaches ~95%.
I don't think a 3% drop in battery over 2 hours is uncommon. Wifi and data connection will pull a lot of power if on, even in standby.

Normal, this phone drains about 20% battery per hour of screen use, slightly less when watching video.
2-3% drain over 2 hours is also pretty normal if you have wifi/sync on.

I just got my SIM card replaced today. The one I had used before was about 12 years old. So whenever you-re having battery issues, make sure your SIM card is not the cause for it .

[Q] just wanna ask x8 battery life

hello
i just wanna ask something about my battery life on my x8...here's how it goes first i fully charge my battery up to 100% until it says on status battery full...then i unplugged it..after it i texted for a few minutes...and i check the status of my battery and it says: 28 mins 23s on battery..my battery is on 96%..is this normal.? or somethings draining my battery,?
i use minicm7 2.2
this is normal since battery is heating itself while charging, and when it cools down it shows less percentage of itself... to maximaze your current battery life, calibrate the battery:
1. charge it to 100% no more no less
2. leave the charger PLUGGED IN, and reboot to CWM
3. there you should find somewhere under options or advanced "wipe battery stats", and you press that
4. reboot your device and when it starts up it will show about 91%, charge it to 100% and you have your battery calibrated
NOTE: the charger is always plugged in
ok thanks i'll try it... one question should i drain the battery before calibrating it.?..as in zero percent??

Yes , that is recommended.
Also , one advice from me.
Even after calibration , whenever your phone says 100% charged , reboot it while the charger is plugged. You will get the exact battery charge after reboot.
Do it every time your recharge your phone.
Then stop rebooting when you get a 99% or 100% after a fresh reboot. Trust me , it helps.
ok thanks for the advice i'll try that too...
it is normal dude ....mine is giving 1day on heavy use
use zepplinrox's supercharge script...it really made a CONSIDERABLE change to m battery usage time
I have one question: "Why my battery is giving 6-8h. My battery 2 days ago giving 24 and more hour." Sorry for my English, but i am from Poland
what happened 2 days ago? did you install new ROM?
The OP might not have needed to install a new ROM, just an APP or maybe just a combination of APPs running. My phone sometimes canes the battery in a couple of hours from 50% to nothing for no apparent reason. On both stock and custom (actually better battery life on custom) it lasts about a day but sometimes about 6 hours! Not sure what is going on as this happened on both the stock 1.6, 2.1 and the custom 2.3.4!

[Q] CM 10

Hello everybody When my battery is charged on display i see only 92% and battery drain very fast. when wifi is on for a couple hours and that's it i must plug charger on stock GB that's not case... also when i play games i got warning for low battery(14%) and after i leave phone battery goes to 22% And major problem for me is Calendar doesn't sync with contact birthdays
TY
GB is more powersaving ROM than JB is, so don't expect a better battery life using CM10. How long did your battery take to go completely flat using GB ROM?

Today i changed my sim card and took out battery twice. When i start phone battery drop from 54% on 14 % MEGA FAIL i use cm10.1 nightly battery sucks

Cm nightly is experimental version, so bugs like this are possible. I think you should try stable version of cm, for example : cm 10.0.0.
now i'm on cm 10

Hello !
Firstly, Wifi (and GPS) are very energy consuming, so yes, if your wifi is on and you are using it for a couple of hours, you may have no more battery left in the end. Maybe stock GB handle "wifi-sleeping" better than JB do (and as it has already been stated, JB consume much more than GB due to higher RAM usage (mostly))
Concerning the drop from 14% to 22%, it make sense for me since battery stat is also calcultated considering current and average usage, so if you were playing your phone think : "oh, I won't be able to handle this state for a long time", and after when you stopped it thinks : "ok, it was not that bad if things stay like this.
Conserning calendar, no idea
