I just downloaded this from my rooted phone and here you go guys. I recommend waiting for a cooked zip as it messes with the recovery and bootloader just from looking at the zip file.
File name: Blur_Version.1.13.604.MB810.Verizon.en.US.zip

booya, im so bored i might as well just sbf to 2.1 then update to this one just for kicks.
I'm thinking about trying to update over my leaked froyo through regular recovery, just for ****z and gigglez...dare me?
E:Error in /sdcard/update.zip
(Status 2)
Installation aborted.
Who would've thunk it?
hopefully now we will get an SBF for 2.2?
Yeah hopefully...
I think I'm going to at least try to wait until either someone comes up with a way that you can SBF back to 2.1 or... at least until we know more about everything this new update does to the phone (bootloader)

Not sure about #1 but as far as your unrooting is concerned... I would just go back to RC29 and wait for the updates. T-Mobile officially confirmed that Cupcake updates begin on May 11.
here is the link for unrooting your phone, finding the update from rc29 to rc 33 took me an hour searching, and i don't have the link atm but this will get you started

you want the g1 original spl and your radio will aoutomatically be downgraded
Thank you for all your help. One last thing you said the original spl correct. and will the rc 29 start to automaticaly update? so get the original spl and the dream fil should I let it totaly reboot after the spl or take it straight to the dream file?
do the spl first let it reboot, then do your img file that will put you at original firmware and rc 29, you can then wait for ota updates, or you can search around the forums for a full update from rc 29 to rc 33 its around here somewhere just not easy to find

You can't downgrade the bootloader (hboot) version, period. End of story. This is NOT the end of the world though! The 2.1 leaked RUU that you used should have been a rooted developers ROM so you can use that to restore your phone, install the custom recovery, then use whatever ROM you want.

does the bootloader stopper you from using a 1.5 ROM? does it stop you from completely unrooting? i guess what im asking is, can you still flash a stock nandroid and stock recovery, would sprint notice?

If they need/want to reflash, then they will notice. You can just wait 1-? weeks for the official 2.1 Ruu, which likely will use the new bootloader.
Look, the just posted a release signed with Release keys instead of test keys. Once this is put into a proper RUU with Root it MAY fix your issue, give it 24 hours.

They leaked.
@ jlem26
I read this from the sprint community forum:
From Android Central When it rains, it pours. Just got word of a new leak for the HTC Sprint Hero. No way of knowing if this is the final 2.1 version, but this one is signed with release keys so you will lose your root for sure if you're into that sort of thing. Anyone who feels brave and wants to try for themselves you can find it here. Remember, this is not official software from any carrier. Using this is at your own risk, and nobody here at Android Central is suggesting you try it, though we're more than happy to show you where it is. Thanks Beezy420! http://www.4shared.com/file/gfPzbRcS/RUU_Hero_C_Sprint_2276515_R_si.html Haven't tried it myself...But I figured I'd post it..
I downloaded it, but I'm scared to try it.......
The new 2.1 leak is almost certainly the final, so the official Sprint update will prob. be out next week.
WARNING: the new leak is NOT ROOTED, and the old rooting methods will NOT work. (Someone took one for the team and already RUU'ed the new leak, and confirmed he could not root afterwords.)
Presumably someone somewhere is already trying new ways to root this upgrade.
I've attempted root three ways now. NO GO!
Yes, I took one for the TEAM and went ahead and ran the RUU, it's fast clean and works fine so far.
BUT.....it closes the ability to ROOT....you've been warned!
Thanks,
Bubba.
thanks for being brave! Have you had any problems so far.
No problems at all.
Phone runs smooth and fast.
Only issue is that I have NO root now. But I knew the choices going into this option.
Having said that, and being able to officially tell everyone that it in fact breaks the root abilities.....is there anyone attempting to get root with this version or will we just ignore it?
Thanks,
Bubba.
I don't see it getting ignored. I wouldn't be surprised if someone somewhere was already working on trying to figure it out.
Is the 2.1 Droid rootable?
I rooted my wife's Hero with the z4 method, I couldn't get unrEVOked to work for us, and removed some bloat with Titanium Backup.
I only did it out of my own curiosity, no particular need. She's running 2.31.651.7 and now an OTA update for 2.32.651.2 is being pushed out. She's a "I just want my phone to work" type, so I'd like to get her this OTA installed for her peace of mind.
I restored the uninstalled apps and "unrooted" in z4, but when I tell the auto-updater to go ahead with the OTA it just dies 1/4 of the way into the install and pops the exclamation point graphic.
Any thoughts? Any other Hero owners have success with a (formerly) rooted 2.31.651.7 to 2.32.651.2 upgrade?
(I searched around, no one seemed to have any threads indicating they got this to work... only ones saying they were able to root 2.32.651.2)
You could install Htc sync on your comp. then d/l the .7 ruu then try to update from the phone.

The only downloads available at htc.com are the latest version of HTC Sync and the 2.27.x.x Eclair release. The Eclair release would completely wipe and reset the device, which is a huge pain in the butt.
Any other thoughts?
Anyone know how to retrieve the log file from the update process? Maybe I can debug what is failing.
Skylar you have to install the .7 ruu (which takes about 10 mins.) Then once the .7 ruu is installed and phone is booted back up go to system updates and update ota. That should do it ,I agree with kyoko I would have flashed nfinite's .2 rom same thing as the .2 update from sprint

I think you're confused.
I'm on .7
I can't update to .2 (it fails)
There is no downloadable RUU .2 or .7 available from HTC
HTC does have a published file from the original Eclair rollout to the Hero... but it wipes EVERYTHING off the device, including apps and data.
I don't want to start over
I looked through the forums for this but couldn't find the answer. Hosed Froyo (somehow) and want to go back to ATT stock, then reinstall. Have AT&T Captivate One-Click Root.exe but get a :signature verification failed message so it won't go back. Maybe it's the update.zip file that is corrupted or something, but not sure how to proceed. Used Odion (I897UCJI6-OCD-REV02-Low-designgears_1_.exe) and thought that would take me back to original Eclair/ATT ROM but all that did was put in a fresh version of Froyo...which might be good if it works but really wanted to start from scratch (Eclair.).
Anyway to go back?
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=731989
Look for the odin thread in development to get you back to jf6. Just make sure you use the one with the three button fix included if you need it.
Wrong odin
http://www.fileserve.com/file/emnCn2j
Provided your build is 1009 or lower.
Can find this under battery
Learn how to use the 1 Click HERE...
Then you will be good to go. Use it to re-flash stock 2.1 or the 2.2 leak.
If you can't get to download mode or want an easy reliable way to always get there. Then just get a JIG like the on HERE...
Why would you tell him to learn how to use odin when his op said he has used it? And why do you spam your jig sales all over?

Really? Look at all those warez......
Always a good idea to keep somewhere on the computer for flashing a new rom. or sending back to att/samsung
Thanks everyone. I will read up on the aboe.
Should have mentioned phone is 1010 version (under battery) and I did get it to go back to Froyo 2.2, which I had read reflashing should be done by going back to stock then reinstalling, and so that is what I was trying to do.
Thought I had backed up my original update.zip for for just such an event but apparently either didn't or can't find it :S
The reinstall/reflash seems to be doing ok...unfortunatly titanium pro didn't back up all my user apps so I'm having to go back and reinstall everything, but I'll eventually get it all back.
Thanks again for all the replies!
I recently reflashed stock 886 from 893 leak after i read some threads about maybe getting the ota but for some reason zumo and lets golf are gone. Any ansewers? I tried to flash the ota anyway through stock recovery and i get the error message tmp/sideload/package.zip error. I know that having the leaked kernel could keep me from doing the ota but any ansewers would help. Thanks!
just flash the system file from the fxz and they will come back. strange that didnt come back before when you flashed.
Yeah thats what i thought. The only thing is that ive had trouble with the fxz. I cant ever get it to work properly. It never makes it past the first step. Ill keep on tryn and see. Released always leaves them out. Thanks for the info!
