ps couldn't find any issue like that on the forums

i know what you are talking about, but i don't know the solution
this topic my help http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=734166

i checked that topic and couldn't find the solution or do u mean for me to post mi q in there?

actually people already had that problem before, but i never found out what they did to fix it, if at all.
the questions and answers were part of that topic
it was also in many separate topics which i don't even recall the title of them

currently i am trying to use the clockwork recovery again and selected open update.zip the current lines on screen are as follow:
update media, please wait ...
update media, finished

Replacing stock recovery with ClockworkMod recovery...
*image of what looks like a progress bar but looks empty if it is one*

all it says that it installed the clockwork mod to offer more funtions than the stock recovery mode
what are you trying to do after that?

just trying to revert to a previous backup because i am trying to get my wifi working again from the fixing permissions

[Q] Problem Reinstalling Packages with UXJL1

Hi Guys,
So here is my problem:
I updated my Captivate from Samsung to Froyo.
I rooted my with Super One Click.
I then downloaded ROM Manager from the Market.
Then used it to Flash ClockworkMod Recovery (Current Recovery 2.5.1.2)
My problem is that when I boot into recovery mode, I click on reinstall packages and it gives me the following error:
E:failed to verify whole-file signature
E:signature verification failed
Installation aborted.
I am not running J16, my baseband says I896UXJL1.
I want to make sure that this works so that I can look into using other ROMs.
Thanks in advance.
Josh da Silva
i believe this is caused by recovery 3e when you tried to get into recovery using rom manager. it requires some kind of signature of the rom.
you need to copy update.zip to your sdcard root folder first and then shut down your phone and use the key combo to get into the recovery mode instead. you may need to apply the changes twice in the recovery mode.
another way to do that is by using android sdk.
I would first try moving update.zip to sdcard (check for updates first), then try using the 3 button to get to recovery and apply it. If that doesn't work, I'd say your probably on a bad recovery, and you should probably flash to stock (Eclair
) using Odin 1 click, available at: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=731989
You can also read there how to use it. I would flash to stock, then go to a proper 2.2 ROM that is widely supported (Perception, Phoenix). Good luck, don't brick your phone.
This makes sense but:
I already have an update.zip in my root folder of my internal SD. Is there something I'm missing here?

Help rooting please.......

Hokay
Telstra P1000T
My only rooting experience was with my HTC Desire many moons ago...
Ran Superoneclick , no problems, passed it's test etc.
I downloaded Rom Manager, Titanium backup. They both reckon I've got root access however, if I go to recovery mode ( either via manual buttons or rom manager or trying to do a nandroid backup ) I have:
Android System recovery <3e>
Enter:Home Key, Select: Vol UP/Vol Down
Reboot System Now
apply sdcard:update.zip
wipe data/factory reset
wipe cache partition
update media , please wait
update media, finished
Install from package
Finding update package
Opening update package
Installing update
E:Error in /cache/update.zip
(Status 2 )
Appling Multi-CSC
Installing Muti-CSC
INstallation Aborted
CAn still navigate the menu and reboot the system , but no nandroid option and no install from sdcard or anything.
Have I missed a step or anything or is it completely different from my desire or. am I missing the correct update.zip or...........
Luckily it reboots fine ( standard Australian Telstra ROM ).
At this point I don't even want to change the ROM, but at least get a nandroid backup......
HELP !!!!!
1) Dude this is the development forum, for posting development projects.
Please use some common sense..
Read sticky topics
Use "search" button
Use the Q&A/General forum to post requests for help.
2) All you need is Z4Root from the market.
Sorry mate, I haven't spent much times on the forums in a while so apologise for inappropriate forum posting. I got the root instructions from here so assumed this was the right place. Mods can you please move.
I have searched both XDA and the web for hours over the last couple of days but can't find an answer. Maybe my Google-fu powers are weak
An I have also tried Z4 Rooted and still no go
Sorry again.
And strangely enough after a mild bollocking by someone the penny drops and I figured it out.
Telstra Tab needs ATT version of Clockwork Recovery to be downloaded and installed ( done by me via Rom Manager )
Mods, please either delete or move or whatever is appropriate.
I apologise profusely again.

[Q] Unable to flash CWM

I'm running rooted stock 2.2 on an I897, and I am unable to find a solution to get into CWM recovery instead of 3e. I've tried replacing the recovery file, chmod 777 the /system/bin fails, mounting the directory does not help either, reinstalling ROM Manager and reflashing CWM does not help either.
When I hit "Reinstall Packages" in 3e...
-- Install from sdcard...
Finding update package...
Opening update package...
Verifying update package...
E:failed to verify whole-file signature
E:signature verification failed
Installation aborted.
Am I missing something?
EDIT:
I got the AIO toolbox to work. After selecting a ROM, I get the same error as above. What am I doing wrong?
Flash a 2.2 kernel via odin that has cwm. Imo, its the easiest way.

Which one would you recommend?
I also forgot about sgs kernel flasher app. Sorry, it's been awhile since I've dealt with 3e recovery. I've used this kernel in the past
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=989298
Install sgs kernel flasher
Put kernel.zip on ur sd card
BU current kernel via sgs kernel flasher.
Flash via sgs kernel flasher.
After flash screen will sit on overstock screen for awhile. You'll hear a robotic women talking. Be patient, this is normal

^^ sorry the above link is not a link. I'm on my phone and for some reason copied links only seem to actually paste as links half the time.
Read this [HOW TO] e:signature verification error/aka 3e recovery mod and workarounds , it's well documented
As for a kernel, most 2.2 kerenls have CWM built into them, so , go back to the thread you choose your rom from and see if the Dev has recommended one , if not keep reading to see what the majority of people are using. The Dev will also explain the best way to flash said kernel and rom. I'm going to assume this is your first flash so read, read, read ! And if you are still not comfortable go to youtube and search for specific rom , there is probably a vid on how to.
My bad, look under this link http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1161102 [HOW TO] e:signature verification error/aka 3e recovery mod and workarounds
Having some issues as well.
I'm rooted on stock froyo from ATT. I have installed the no sig recovery file so i can flash cwm following instructions here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1052991
and here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=909213
to no avail. After reflashing cwm, I try to reboot into recovery and my phone gets stuck on att splash screen...wtf !!!
I cannot use odin since i don't have access to a pc and heimdall does not work on my mac...sigh...
Help anybody ??
update to my problem: I re-installed stock recovery file in /system/bin and I can't go back to the 3e recovery screen using any of the buttons combo methods ( and i used to be able to?!!_)
Ok remedied my own problems and hopefully this will help others
(mods feel free to move this to anywhere relevant since i cannot post to dev)
After hours of frustration, victory!!!
as stated above I have an att captivate stock froyo 2.2 rooted with superoneclick
when I used the 3 button combo it allowed me to go into 3e recovery (useless)
when I installed the 3e mod recovery no sig http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=909213 I was no longer able to enter 3e recovery using any of the 3 button combo methods (see post above) and therefore I could not reinstall packages and flash CWM. Trying to reboot into recovery from Rom Manager did not work either (stuck everytime on att splash screen!)
What finally did it was replacing recovery file with method in above thread, flashing cwm and then booting into recovery with adb: adb reboot recovery
I then choose the option to reinstall packages twice and there it is CWM...Bingo

[Q] failed to mount /sdcard error

hi guys
this is my first post on this kickass site and i hope that someone can help me with this rather strange error :victory:
as the subject of topic says , i get this error whenever i boot my friends sgs into recovery as normal booting goes on loop forever.
this is the error i get in the recovery of stock I9000XXJVU:
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
--Copying media files...
E:failed to mount /sdcard (file exists)
E:copy_dbdata_media:can't mount /sdcard
your storage not prepared yet, please use UI menu for format and reboot actions
media files copy failed
# MANUAL MODE #
-- Applying Multi-CSC...

Can't access to '/system/csc/TRA/system/'.
Successfully applied multi-CSC
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
what happened is this:
my friend had a sgs and i wanted to flash it with cyanogenmod 10 (android 4.1)
the stock firmware was 2.2 iirc.
i just rooted the stock and flashed the 4.1
it went ok but i saw the mounting error back then sometime that i rebooted the device with 4.1 on it but didn't get that error all the time and it would boot just fine.
then the error popuped more and more.
so i decided to flash stock 2.3.6 ,rooting it and finaly go back to 4.1.
after i flashed the device using I9000XXJVU it goes on loop.
recovery and downloading mode works.but the recovery give me that error i said above.
i guess a hardware issue but i don't know for sure
i'm lost here :silly:
help me plz
Thanks in advance

thanks for the reply.
i did what you said and its still in loop and same error in recover.

yep same error as before.
after flashing is done and it want to install the package,it get stock and give me that mounting error.
i just want to know if this problem is software or hardware
I also had this problem. Was on stock JVT with semaphore, partitions converted to ext4.
I decided to reboot my phone for no particular reason (was working reat) and when i powered it on kept boot looping without really getting past the samsung gt-i9000 white letters / black background screen.
CWM recovery said it was unable to mount any partition. External SD mounted fine, just nothing from the internel sd. No system, data, whatever. Got me thinking i may had my internal sd malfunctioning.
I just flashed it with odin and my stock branded operator rom (2.3.3) and done nothing more. No repartition. Working great. Was probably some ext4 error.
Before that i had been using cyanogen stable. Started giving FC like mad, so i flashed that stock JVT. On hindsight it may only had been the data partition that had run out of free space but i had no way of knowing when it happened and needed my phone running.
Reflashing got mine running again. Maybe try with Heimdall if odin's not working for you? Be sure to get a complete rom, with bootloaders and such. I'd suggest your operator's stock one. That way you can also send it back to samsung if it still doesn't work.

Found this post somewhere in the xda forum, it helped many people having the same problem as yours, hope it helps you !!!!

See problem 11 exact same problem described
thanks for the help guys
i tried everything that came to my mine and used this topic for my errors but still get errors
problem 11 and 12 are the ones i get flashing different roms
even tried a Rescue kit from here but no go...
why this is happening to me?
the failed to mount as i have come to understand is internal SD card failure you will have to give external SD card a try

[Q] Pls Help - (Soft?) Bricked

Hello there,
Where to start. Ok, I'm not a techy person (so pls dont reply with abreaviations) but I'm half capable, so I decided to upgrade my galaxy s to the x-bean rom.
I flashed my phone using odin to the standard XXJW4 upgrade, rooted it, and transfered the x-bean 3.0 zip and the fix file to the sdcard. Wiped date/factory reset as needed, then when I went to install zip from sdcard the following error message occurs:
E:Error in /sdcard/x-bean 3.0.zip
(status 0)
installation aborted
I'm now using semaphore cwm recovery v6.0.1.3 which i got from a fix I tried.
I've hunted through youtube vids, the recovery section, and the threads for hours!! I've downloaded and tried flashing every file his man and his dog have posted up as fix but nothing is working, all I get is boot loop and this error.
Every time I try upload anything from odin the download stops shortly after it starts and disconnects from the phone. As i can still access recovery and download option tho, does anyone else have a suggedtion which its having a problem accessing the sdcard?
Any help would be greatly appreciated, as phone is useless right now
managed to find a file that resolved it all, just incase anyone else has same problem in future
