There's been a major outage on the site, and it's been restored from a 24-hour backup. I was confused as to where my old posts had gone, until I read the thread at http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=792013
Sorry for the off-topicness, but I think this really should be posted on every forum.

Hi folks, I’m not from around these parts, I live in the Kaiser world!
I have a friend who is not technically minded, but wants me to update the ROM on his diamond.
I need to put a stable ROM on there that he can use day in day out without having to worry about solving bugs etc himself as I won’t be around to do it for him! He’s just your average, email, music and texting user – doesn’t need anything specific.
Over in the Kaiser section I would recommend PDA Ultimate V19. There are better versions after this, but in the drive for perfection and speed, each new release throws up bugs that need tweaking every now and then – this is what I’m trying to avoid.
Please can you let me know which version of a ROM you would recommend for him? The one you’ve run for ages and always return to. If there are just one or two tweaks I need to make to it, if you could detail those and I’ll sort them before I hand him his upgraded diamond back never to be tweaked again!!
Thanks in advance
Ps. Mods – didn’t want to clutter the ROM section with this, so put it in here.
Please be considerate ogf others and read the rules before posting.

ATTENTION!: We are glad that our community is growing really fast. Unfortunately, the number of topics in the threads of the forums grow in a very larger manner. Unfortunately not every user is aware of the general forum usage and posting rules. As a direct conseque to that MODERATORS will apply the Diamond forum, as one of the most active forums on the site, a very strict moderating policy which might imply:
immediate thread deletion when newly created thread addresses an already discussed topic;
immediate thread deletion when newly created thread addresses an issue such as "Which ROM is the best", "Diamond vs iPhone", etc.;

Did you read my post?

I am also interested in this. I have read all the threads till now and kinda convinced me not to update the ROM. From what i've read, ROM v 1.93 has many bugs (e.g. phone rings one and then no more, send SMS to someone and I receive the message -> these are only single member problems, not happened to many people). In the end ... any suggestions on ROM update?
Yeh - what i always return to is stock rom and SPB Mobile Shell v3 on top of it - it's awesome...
Earlier today I created a new thread about the volume level on my phone being low and if there was a way to fix it. Within a few hours I came back to see if anybody had replied with any suggestions, the entire thread was deleted!!
Who decides which threads get to live and which ones die? And by what criteria is this decision made? I have a real problem and asked an honest question. Why was my thread deleted? I didnt get a message stating why or anything. Poof, the thread was just gone. I've been a long time member of this message board and have answered and posted many good posts. I think it was a raw deal that when I had a real problem and needed help, some power-hungry jerk just deleted my thread with no explanation what's so ever.
Only mods can delete threads. In the future, you should search better before opening a new thread. Mods are strictly enforcing the rules more (operation Iron Fist).
Yea, I always try to search first. Even when I'm typing the topic of the new thread the forum auto searches for you.
I did search and didnt really find anything that was 100% dead-on what I was asking about.
I guess since the Captivate forum has a new moderator, he's feeling powerful; deleting posts/threads at the drop of a hat.
So I signed up to the forum after lurking for a while. I wanted to talk on a couple of threads that are going related to one of my projects I'm working on, but apparently I have to post 10 things before I can post in the development sections.
I was up to 5 posts, and then suddenly shot back down to 1 post. Several were deleted with no explanation. I'm assuming there is some kind of "1 post per day" limitation as well? I didn't see anything about this in the forum rules, so I assume this is an automatic bot-fighting mechanism? Any chance I can get this limitation removed? I am an experienced developer and having to post to 10 irrelevant threads, and not able to post more than 1 at a time in some currently unknown time-frame just to be able to post in the development section, seems extremely patronizing.
They would have been deleted if they were obviously just created to boost your count. Also, there an auto merge feature on Vbuliton. It may have been merged with other posts. Please read the link in my sig explaining the 10-post rule. Thanks. Topic closed.
I don't know if it is appropriate to post a "Salutations" on this... but that's what the youtube video said so I hope this is okay.
I own an Atrix.
I'm addicted to putting ROMS on it.
I wish AT&T "4G" service didn't suck in NorCal.
Also, I think it is really clever that there is a "Here are the similar threads we found:" section when posting threads.
That is all
Nick
Should've posted on a similar thread then instead of wasting xda's server space with an utterly pointless thread. jk.
The confessions thread has been deleted and it will not be coming back. It was a good idea and a lot of people found it useful and very beneficial, but that was ruined by some people being highly inappropriate and sometimes downright offensive.
Do not create another one - end of.
This thread is stickied so that all who used the original will see and know the thread is gone. This thread is also closed as this is not a discussion. I'm explaining what happened for the sake of the people that are losing out.
