Try Ringdroid
ringdroid is to edit mp3
Try putting mp3 in
sd card/media/audio/notifications/
Or /ringtones instead of /notifications
i did not have the folder audio in the media folder but i created the audio and notifications folder and works like a charm for as well the SMS notification and the Rintone Thanks.
This could be a wiki item

Ok SMS have to be made into .wav files for them to be played. So if the music you have is in an Mp3 format you will have to convert it to .wav
Then place this file into your /windows directory.

Just to clarify. The file needs to go in /windows/ NOT /windows/rings.
Yes, you have to put it on the windows folder in wma format and after you can see it wen you go to NOTIFICATION. I do that with new message and new email. Work's fine. For ringtones work's too.

This has been asked and answered a million times, please search and you would have found it.
The easiest place to put all sounds so they can be used as either ringer, email notifications, sms/mms is to go to file explorer, my device, application data, then sounds. Place them in there. If you want to use a particular sound for an alarm then place those sounds in your windows folder.
hey guys.
Just a simple request to those who you have the time to do so.
I recently installed Gtrab's W4X WM6.5 Cooked Rom but didn't realise it had a lot of the ringtones included with the xperia missing.
I've searched the forums and found the odd file containing ringtones taken from handsets but they are different tones.
Could you please copy and zip all the ringtones from the Windows folder from a default Xperia rom and upload it to the internet for me please
Cheers,
Hyped
I need them too. can somebody please post them?
Thank you
Press me softly....
Thank you for your help, however, unfortunately, these are not the ringtones I need.
I'm not sure where they're saved but there are some ringtones called like Alarm1, Alarm2, Alarm3 and such. And it's in this location I need the ringtones. I think they are scattered throughout the Windows folder admist the system files.
So, could you possible collect and zip these please

Extract the rar file on your computer, connect device via active sync, once syncing click "explore" and your my documents folder should be visible, move the extracted mp3 ringtones to this folder. Hope that helps
Thx
But does anybody have also the ringtones for sms ?
There is one ringtone, i really miss on the ROMĀ“s, but i do not remember the name
Its gonna be difficult if you don't have the name. I used dreamland on the stock rom.

I flashed energy rom so i don't have the stock ones at hand
There is a thread or two around here somewhere with a link to all the OEM ringtones / sounds etc. I'm not sure what it was titled though.
It was a rar file and nearly 38mB in size.
:edit Found it. I used the top secret 'Search' button. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=526164

more info required
you would need to say what rom you are using?, what format the tones you are using are in ?, what exactly are you trying to put in the windows folder?
have you tried any other apps to achieve this.. which app were you using to do it before? what did you remove?
i use ringo (comercial software) but there are freeware options out there with a bit of searching... i seem to remember seeing a mortscript that was set up to do this somewhere on xda. which users seemed to report worked quite well.

I use the stock rom. I haven't upgraded to any other rom. I am trying to put a song into the windows file so i can change the text notification to the song of my choice. I have not tried any other apps only because i know of none. lol. I'm not sure what app i was using if any. But all i remember is i had absolutely no trouble with this until i deleted the at&t junk on the tilt. By the way i appreciate your help. My apologies for not responding sooner.
Oh, i forgot to mention the formats: mp3 and wmv. The ringtone that i want is set to mp3. It was mp3 the first time it worked and it still is mp3 and now it doesn't work.

All mp3's need to be associated with Media Player or else they will not play as ringtones. Perhaps you have installed another music player which has changed the file associations. You need to change it back to WM Player. Let us know if this is your problem.
Hasta luego,
MAC
Is the ringtone over 500KB? When I still used AT&T stock ROMs, I learned that files over 500KB would not work as ringtones unless I installed this fix. Hope that helps,
Dave
(And I assume you're putting the potential ringtones in \My Documents\Ringtones)

Well thanks. So what about the weather problem and the settings sounds tab in manilla 2d? Why wont it allow me to add a location? And why wont it allow me to go to the sounds tab in settings when using the manilla touchflo thingy? lol
Hi all, i have recently got an mp3 trimming program i found here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=4841262#post4841262 which works fine on the TD2, and i have chopped up a few mp3 tracks and put them in the ringtone folder(main memory) on my device. Now i can select one of these to use as my ringtone fine using the notifications tab in sounds but i cant seem to set a mp3 i have trimmed as an incoming text message alert. Does anyone know if this is possible and if so how?
no it is not possible, you have to put your file in wma format into windows folder
edit: sorry my mistake, mp3 works in wm6.5
I set one of my trimmed mp3s as my incoming text and mms alert. I renamed as "Alert-tonename" and dropped in into my windows folder. I also put into my ringtones folder for good measure so I don't know if you need to do both. But, that is how I got one of my trimmed mp3s available as a message alert. Hope this helps.

Put it directly into your Windows folder, rings are only for rings but sounds go to Windows.
Thanks for the info guys ill take a look now
Hmm if i try and move the file on my pc via sync for some reason it does not show the windows folder i need to move it to, and i have tried several things on the device itself i.e. touching the mp3 file till i get the pop up menu, pressing cut then going to the windows folder holding the screen again but i have no option to paste :S sorry if its a simple solution i just cant seem to work it out.
Many thanks guyd i have sussed it ou, im well happy thanks
P.S. if anyone else is unsure feel free to ask here or message me and ill do my best to explain.
Hi Shambolicuk, I'd be grateful if you could explain to me how you did it.
I copied them in My Ringtones and they automatically appeared in the ringtone list
Changing ringtone and alerts to Mp3's or Wav's
This is old but I wonder if there are any fossil TD2's that are still using TD2's. Change the login sound by setting "HTC-tonename" ? Cant delete the original HTC-Quietly...wav any ideas??
Quote I copied them in My Ringtones and they automatically appeared in the ringtone list Quote
This works for ringtones but not for alarms or alerts.
