too many bull**** words in Swype. - Galaxy S I9000 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

things like 2mr and tmr.
hell, I don't use short forms. is there anyway I can load up Swype with STANDARD ENGLISH WORDS. then I'll add shortform/alien languages that I type manually.
like why would I want the word "berti" in my Swype's dictionary. I don't even have any friends named that! once I have bull**** words like nnniiinnnaaa and eeeeeee? what the ****, lol. I've never added those words.
of course, I can remove them but it's a pain in the butt(if some words can even be removed).

Are you using a ROM from Samfirmware? Because it's possible that someone else added them before uploading the rom. ..

yup I'd think so. thanks for the input!
guess I'll make do with nonsensical words than my stock rom if it's true.

no really, I didnt mean to do that. You are SOO SMART!!
oh ya BTW dont ask for help go bring your poor a$$ to a store and buy the software
First:
PETER RED: VB 6 is part of Visual Studio 6 and though MS may not be selling it directly any more it is still proprietary software and requesting a free copy is asking for WAREZ which is not allowed on this forum.
g35driver: I think its time for a warning: please stop picking fights with users over typing habits. If you want to tell him not to ask for WAREZ its fine, but no point in getting in to a fight over capital letters. Note that some languages like Hebrew, Arabic and I think many Asian languages do not have capital letters at all.

if we all say one language!

Just a joke!
if we all say one language,we can commuacation each other freely.
I like the site XDA,but my english is poor,I cannt understand other clearly and also counldn't let them understand me!
I understood you. The way I look at it is this. Whatever your native language, it would be a second language for me. I'll bet you US$50 that you speak, (write) better English better than I speak, (write), your native language. So, it's no big deal. Even among native English speakers, the meaning often gets lost behind the words. On the Internet, it is difficult to communicate subitle meanings, as inflections in voice and body language are not available.
I know over 10 languages (with Google Translate Lol..!) It's seriously a great tool.

Carty..

anyone willing to make me a simple custom ROM?

Hi,
I am wanting a very simple custom rom but I am not sure how to "cook" one.
I've read the tutorials, etc.. but I'm still very confused.
I will try to get a hang of it, so I can make a truly customied Rom, but in a mean while can someone be kind enough to make me a basic custom ROM?
All I need/want is a UK ROM (or any english based rom) with Korean fonts, Korean Keyboard, Korean Thumb keyboard, Powerdic (All theses are pre-included in SKTELCOM ROM).
Korean Thumb Keyboard is like the one in HTC devices where you can type letters with onscreen number pad (I believe it's called "SKY II" in the Korean ROM)
Basically, I need an English ROM with full Korean Support. (powerdic is a dictionary program included in Korean ROM)
I could install softwares to my X1 with English ROM to get a similar result, and I tried but the result wasn't perfect - I was not able to read at some conditions and not able to write sometimes as well)
Can anyone PLEASE be kind enough to make one for me?
I hope it won't take that long..
Thanks for looking.
no one will do it for free. you should consider giving some incentives, otherwise everyones' gonna ignore you

for this you have my kitchen
just use it
br
If I get a chance later I will
But I can't promise anything, it'll depend on how my time pans out.
You should try to cook it yourself? Maybe instead, ask for like a "How To Cook Basic Rom" guide or something. Just like being able to take someones rom and maybe tweak it a bit to your own liking? Less hassle for them and puts more control into your own hands.

Thanks for the reply.
I've actually read some tutorials and guides but could not fully understand.
So, I went one to try something, and I wasn't going anywhere.
First of all, I didn't know what folders had what, and did not configure how to mix components.

Thanks a lot!
I'll try to figure something out in a mean while..
Hope I can find some who did something similar already..
Most audience in here are English user. For this kind of language specific request, normally you should look for forums in yr language community. I am not sure about Korean, but I know there's a lot of those forums for Chinese and Russian (in fact, many of them are really hard-core hacker).
The reason I need help from ENG speaking people is that I live in Canada and I use my phone in this country.
Sadly, Korea uses a bit different structure for mobile phones and there are a few things that work differently - for example, SMS feature is a lot different.
Since I am a Korean-Canadian, I use Korean language as well.
Only thing I need is Korean language input/output, and possibly ABC tabs in contact list converted in Korean Language - I think I can find a way for this by modifying some registries.
If someone can at least make Packages from SKTELCOM ROM, then I guess I can finish the rest.
I tried extracting and got stuck in making them into packages..
Plus, I don't know where the language related files are usually located from the extracted stuff..

Well I've just cooked you one, in fact two, but it's not booting. I'll try again tomorrow.
If you use evrius ultilanguage GUI rom kitchen, it'll extract the rom from nbh and make it into packages, it's all pretty easy to do. Then do the same with the UK (or NA) one and combine, but it's not happened with me tonight.
Language files are all those in 412 folders.
WOW, Thanks so much for trying that for me.
I will also try to make something out of it with the info you gave me.
Thanks

hi fards, just curious if you might have been successful in the cooked rom dahanist was looking for. I'm in the same situation, except I live in korea and cant really take advantage of the phone with a full korean OS, so i want to install an English OS but keep all the korean compatibility for sms, input, etc. Figured this might do the trick. Any luck yet?
By the way, there's a seperate thread (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=500446) where several people in my position are willing to pay money for a good cooked English ROM with korean language support, how's that for incentive?
got it
If anyone is still looking for this i found the answer

Mind if I ask what your answer is? Theres some custom English ROMs posted on another post here. I'd be curious to know what else you may have found though otherwise.

[TT] Kitchen alà samdroidmod for vibrant?

As the title says... would it be possible to make a "kitchen" like the one from samdroidmod just for Vibrants?
Well.. You need a host, and a programmer to put it together.. I can volunteer hosting, with the caveat that I would run ads if the traffic required me to upgrade. Now find a programmer to build the kitchen, and we might be in business..
I too can host, with a 750GB (7,5TB/mth traffic) hosting plan at servage.net. So, yeah, what we need is a programmer who can put it together =)
I am already working on a kitchen. But it will not be an online one. I don't have the patience to do one online because that requires a lot of code and resources if you are going to do it correctly. Plus, with a software type there is a lot of directions you can go with it without limitations. I am basing it off my Samsung Moment kitchen that I almost finished.
But in all honesty my biggest problem is I have a hardware locked Vibrant. So, testing is very very iffy for me.
Mine isn't hw locked, so if you want I could be your guinea pig...
I resantly was developing ROMs for wm, but am now over to android and vibrant. I want to learn how to develop for vibrant, but doesnt know where to start
But again, if you need a guinepig I can help
I can test your kitchen if you would like. Also I could help get it online. Don't ask for nothing but my name in the credit / thanks roll.
Sent from my SGH-T959 using XDA App
I volunteer for guinea pig work as well. Not hardware locked so I'm not worried about bricking my phone.

Sorry to be "that guy" but I can't help it. It's not "alà." That is not a word nor a phrase in French, just nothing. The phrase you are looking for is "à la." But since you're speaking English, you could use that or just simply "a la."
Back to the topic though: interesting idea.
haha... alà is a norwegian word actually, I just "ported" it to english
About the idea it should be possible also on the vibrant, but I'm no good at code... :S

Let me know what you guys need.. Thanks
Any progress on this? I was hoping to make use of this.

[Q] ROM with spell check

The absence of an innate spell check on the android OS is a major flaw.
Has anyone thought about, or is it even possible, to add an innate spell check to android using a ROM?
Thanks

I don't think it would be a bad idea, but I would guess that the text predicting and autocorrecting keyboards we use sort of obsolete that feature. Although that doesn't do any good for existing documents that you open.
I agree; without swype and the ROMs I found here I would have gone back the BB; which is a pretty sad statement given BBs current lack of capabilities.
The spell check is most needed for professorial emails with technical language; this language generally falls outside of what swype (or other predictive spellers) handle.
good idea
Its a good idea but i agree with the keyboards making it far too complicated to implement with a decent substitue in place with the keyboards.
P.S. you might want to go about changing your user name to something other than you gmail adress.....just a thought
P.P.S this probably belongs in Q&A or General. Nothing against you personally buddy just trying to keep the forum tidy. Mods can you move this!
Check out swiftkey, I'm not a fan of swype and this keyboards predictive and auto correction abilities are top of the line. Also, I just saw it was on the market for 1.99, which I believe is $2 less than normal. There is a 30 day trial out as well to test for free. Only complaint from me is you can't skin it. And that's minor.
And yes, this probably belongs in another section.
