Upgrade blocked on alignment screen - MDA III, XDA III, PDA2k, 9090 Software Upgrading

Hi all,
I know the problem seems common to other topics (which I have read), but mine is a bit different.
I have upgraded successfully mi Qtek 9090 Blue Angel to a Windows Vista Black Edition ROM a year ago. After months of happy use something went wrong and I had to re-install the ROM.
After flashing it I come to the alignment screen and then it's blocked in an infinite alignment loop.
I've tried:
- formatting it with MTTY (because my e-mail button doesn't work in the formatting screen): nothing new
- the external alignment program: I receive an error
- accessing from activesync to delete alignment procedure or uploading alignment data: the destination seems read-only
The last try, I think, could explain the problem: is it possible that I cannot write to the filesystem and because of this the OS cannot write the alignment information as well as the other tries?
In this case what can I do?
Thanks a lot
Fabrizio

My "Updater" make a "task28" after Update this is the same as HardReset!!!

I know, but I have tried because the problem arose again...
The updater has correctly installed your ROM, but when I tip 5 times on the crosses in the alignment screen, it seems to reset and let me tip again and again and again...
I'm an IT consultant but I have no experience in this field: I can play with mtty commands if it could help.
I noticed there is an mtty command to lock/unlock (task 7) but I don't understand its use.
Is it possible that the device is blocked that way? But consider that the ROM was updated correctly.
Thanks in advance

Problem Updating the XDAIIs New Rom

Dear All
I would like to have some urgent help on this one. I have downloaded the new Rom Update for my XDAIIs. I have successfully started the ROM update. I reached the screen when it prompted me with the device information and I clicked on UPDATE to start the process. My XDA screen went to Black with the USB indication ...and v2.06 indicated below. Nothing happened and the wizard did not proceed with any further indication except "Checking the information in your device ..." etc...It froze on this and I had to restart my PC. Now my XDAIIs is remaining on the same blacked out screen and won't boot to its previous room if I do a soft or hard reset. Have I "Killed" my XDAIIs? Is there anything I did wrong? Pls HELP !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Thanks
Ashraf
No Problem..
1. Do a soft reset (the screen will just blik once and still remain blank)
2. Put the device in cradle/USB
3. ReDo your upgrading procedure by double clicking the upgrade file
It should work then... good luck

Guys,
I have the same problem only a little more stupidity on my part, check it out at - http://forum.xda-developers.com/viewtopic.php?p=130797#130797
As you can see kumar00455 your advice doesn't work in my situation
any other help ??

Kumar
Thanks pal !
I've been able to sort out the problem. I actually needed to stop the Active Sync application on my PC so that the upgrade wizard could connect to the XDAIIs via USB and perform the update. It will not work if the Active Sync task is still running as a process.
After running the app again, the upgrade worked seamlessly without any glitch...!!!
Thanks for your support.

Help Please ! Won't go past the Splash Screen?

I've been trying to get my old extended rom and new Qtek OS on my Wizard (Vario).
But now it gets stuck in the spash screen (ie the one giving the ROM numbers).
I've tried putting the wizard into bootloader mode and I can flash RUU's but when it resets it still gets stuck on the spash screen and won't go any further !!!????
What can I do ??
Please Help
Cheers
John
I should say that I had flashed using button's ROM RUU_Wizard_1050412_WWE_101_11210_WWE.exe.html
and this worked fine!
I then copied across my T-mobile Extended ROM and again everything seemed OK.
BUT then I tried to restore my new saved OS ROM using aWizard and this caused a freeze on my Wizard. It was after a hard reset that the wizard stopped at the splash screen.
Now of course I'm limited in my options because Activesync won't work until the Wizard has fully booted up.
I have tried setting the Wizard into bootloader mode and tried several ROM's (RUU Installer ones) but every time the correct splash screen comes up with the new ROM numbers but that is as far as it gets.
I also noticed on hard reset that you get the following message
Format FAT partition
Format failed
it then goes to the splash screen as before.
Are there any other things I can try Or will I have to send it back to T-mobile for a replacement??
(It's only 2 months old and I have re-flashed it with the orginal T-mobile ROM - but still won't go past the splash screen!!)
I live in hope
John
I have this EXACT same problem!
I can reflash any ROM but it will not go past the splash screen. Only difference was I wasn't playing with my extended ROM. I flashed the AKU2 QTEK ROM yesterday and have been fine through several soft resets, etc. This last time I was uninstalling phonealarm and after a soft reset I got a "could not find smswakeup.exe" (or something similar) and it's been stuck ever since! I also get the "Format Failed" message. Can anyone help!?
I think I'm going to have to send it back to T-mobile and hope they give me a replacement. Something is wrong, it doesn't seem to make any difference what ROM I used.
I think I'll reload the T-mobile shipped ROM grom the FTP site and send it back - and claim ignorance that it it suddenlt freezed and now won't boot up! - Bummer!!!
Right I've logged a fault and it will be sent back - let's hope T-mobile can't detect it's been unlocked and had several ROM updates - I suspect they will try a ROM update themselves then give up ???
The worrying thing though is that it IS possible to kill your phone with updates - maybe it was when I used aWizard to try and restore a ROM that did it??? I'll be more carefull next time!!
this has just happened to one of the devices im flashing at the moment.... absolulty f**king raging
i wish teher was a solution!!? anyone got any ideas?
activesync wont find it, so aWizard wont work.
i can flash between 3 roms without any problems (1.5.x 1.6.x 2.x) but always hangs on the splash screen. i have flashed back to the default rom that it came installed with it so i could just send it back to o2 (only 2 days old!)
i would rather just get it sorted by myself thoough so if anyone has ANY ideas then please let me know.
thank you!
Good luck! after about 3 days of trying different types of firmware, I gave up and sent it to expansys, for repair. And it looks like they've lost the bloody thing now.

same problem here.
tryed to write os with awizzard after changing extended_rom.
kills phone.
format failed..
Tryed different os's from win util - failed
upgraded with sd card methode worked.
in short :
you need a working wizzard to make a os dump on sd card.
Connect to wizzard with usbterm or romupdate.exe or simular.
do a rs2all command to dump os to sd card.
stick this card in broken phone.
hold voice comm button while resetting.
On ask press voice comm button again.
it bow restores the sd backup to phone.
saved mine.....
btw sd card backup can be read ad write by pc with util ntrw.exe .
so if you don't have a working dump i can upload one.
just mail me.

hard reset your device and hold your Camera Button prior to starting the wizard back on.
when the device turns back on, you will get the boot screen. Plug in your USB cable and load one of the known ROMS like the second to last iMate ROM.
This will allow you to get past the splash screen.

Don't worry, I met the same problem as you before, almost lost my hope, but finally I managed to fix it.
The solution is simple, that is to find an original SD card backup image from your wizard or others, then try to restore it in the bootloader mode. In my case, it said checksum error or sth else after begin restoring, and it gave up. Then I put my wizard into bootloader mode, picked one offical released RUU package, start reflash again. Finnally, I found the wirzrd works again for me after reboot.
I guess the principle is that the SD restore will destroy some import flash data structure before it said wrong, then the RUU package will rebuilt it wholely in the next reflash.
Hope this helpful, and sorry for my bad english.
There is hope

since the new Rom-Update it is driving me crasy

I have a really annoying problem with my P4350.
Before the official Update i was running HERALD_WM6.0_4.12.07.06.PDAVIET with 4 MB Pagepool.
it worked really nice and i had never any problem with it.
Now i updated to the official HTC WM6 Rom. First i also installed the OS from PDAVIET over the Official one. But then i encountered after a little time the Bootloop of death.
it was always rebooting, and removing of the microsd did not really helped at the bootloop it was only stopping at the bootscreen and hang there forever.
the only chance was a Hardreset. After that i installed only the official Rom from HTC from the Bootloader. Now i am running only the official WM6 Rom and it is also rebooting after some time. i did not installed anything that i didnt installed also in the original WM5 Rom, and SD-Card removing also dont help.
After some Hardresets i installed a Safemode tool.
now i encountered another Bootloop and i can enter the Safemode. There i sometimes disable a Homeplugin, then it boot again. But not for long, it will hang again in the Bootloop. I have no idea wath File/Program is doing this thing and i have not many applications that boot at startup. It is also happening if i have no Home-Plugins enabled (from Safemode disabled).
can someone help me at this, or is it only possible that i downgrade or never install any application(wath is also no guarantee that it will not again enter the bootloop)
(sorry for every error in my text because i am German)
How long do you wait before giving up when you pull out the SD card? When I installed the home screen I got the continuous reboot and when I took out the sd card it stayed at the green windows mobile screen for about 2-3 minutes before booting into the home screen.
Also, have you tried this: http://www.modaco.com/Continuous-reboots-t256186.html ?
thanks for your help.
But i already waitet for way more than 3 minutes. i think it was ~ a half hour.
I already tried to rename the OMAP850_SDHC.dll but with no luck. The File is in the Rom and it is not alowed to rename this File. (if i look at the Settings from Resco Explorer ROM is activated)
my OMAP850_SDHC.dll is 46.38 kB big and from 02.07.07 5:44 if this information can help.
at the moment i try to avoid a reboot from my device...
I think i found the troublemaker.
I deleted a windows-design that i liked and used in all Rom-versions, and since i deleted the file it seems that the reboot-problem is solved.
If my Herald will hang again in a reboot-loop, i will write here again.
so long... thanks for the help.

Possible workaround for "Failed to initialize camera" issue

Hi everyone,
After upgrading my QTEK 9090 with WM5, I experienced the camera bug (no reaction while pressing the camera button).
Then I downloaded the "camera2k5.cab" file I found here, and installed it as mentionned.
What was strange is that the camera perfectly worked after installation, but won't after the first reset (then never worked again). After I reset the device, I always received this message : "failed to initialize camera" when I press on the camera button.
Then I tried different option by using the rollback process (reinstalling the VM5 using device only, by pressing camera and recorder button then reset...) please read the faq to get the whole process.
And I finally found one that seems to work !
1-Install the camera2k5.cab program. Do not restart the device after installation
2-Check your camera is working (at this point it should)
3-Soft-reset your device. Camera will won't work by now.
4-Then go into the Bootloader mode (see the Faq)
5-Choose these options : Enable KITL -> NO / Clean Registry -> YES / Format Storage -> NO then press the "mail" button
6-The device will be erased and at the first launch, after the initialize session, (Tap the screen to setup your device) you will receive two warning : "Camera.exe is from an unknonw publisher" and "HTCCamera.dll is from an unknonw publisher". Of course validate by YES that you want to run both of these prg.
...and then... camera is working perfectly, even after a reset !
Note that these two warning will appears once after you reset your device.
Please let me know if this procedure help you...
this should work. theoretically.
this procedure uses the working "exe" from the camera2k5.cab and the correct registry settings from your orig OS.
as long as you dont format the storage, it wont restore the NON-working orig "exe" from the flash ROM.
the only drawback on this is that there are so many unneccesary files that will be left behind from your former configuration because you only restored the Registry and left the file-system intact.
hi, i've the same problem of str0be. it has succeded me after flashing my qtek with a rom image of a jasjar. Although I reset this operation with the previous working rom, the bug remains (the first splash image is I-mate now). I tried then, unsuccessfully again to solve the camera problem, the installation of the now running wm6pro.
would you like suggest an alternative solution? my configuration is, at the moment, as follow:
wm6pro wwe 08/02/07
radio 1.18
qtek9000
thanks a lot in advance
better u should use any branded rom...from o2 or imate..
txs for your reply. I tried with an original release of i-mate. I suppose there are some settings differences between the devices, although it looks like me odd, I've always thought they were equivalent.
I think the best solution at the moment is looking for an original rom for my device, but I don't know where could I pick it... is anyone updated about any link for my search?
happy 2008 everybody

[SOLVED] Noob needs help! Is my qtek9100 a brick?

Hi!
this is my first post here, so sorry for my bad english or mistakes
i bought a qtek 9100 on ebay, and i'm wondering if it's a brick or not. i received the device 3 days ago. during this time i read through a LOT of threads here, tried a few things and nothing works.
here is some info:
- the phone is a qtek 9100 without branding
- the IPL is now 1.01 (i flashed "CUSTOM__RUU_Wizard_1050412_WWE_101_11210_WWE" successfully)
- the SPL is 2.18 (because of the missing suffix ".0001" i guess it's a G3)
- GSM is 01.12.10
- OS is 1.5.4.2
- when i start the device (without any button pressed) it stops at the splash screen (which was a qtek logo before flashing, and is now this picture with a beer, that says "some things last forever" )
- i can get into bootloader screen (color screen) by holding camera button while starting
- in bootloader screen a small "USB" appears when i connect cable to usb on pc
- when i press communicate and voice buttons (on the sides) while starting, the "Press send to restore factory default" screen appears, but pressing send prints out "Format FAT Partition Format is Failed"
- the device gets recognized by windows ("Mobile Device" appears on my computer)
- ActiveSync 4.5 does not connect to device, not even as guest.
- when i hit "Connect..." in ActiveSync's connection settings, nothing is found
("Allow USB Connections" is ON)
- the device is CID-locked ("FF" state in Mtty 1.42)
- i can't unlock CID, because i can't get "EnableRapi.cab" onto the device without ActiveSync connection
Ok, these are basically the things i know now. The problem is that i never saw any other screen then the "HTC" boot screen, the "Qtek" splash logo (the one with the clouds) before i flashed with custom ruu wwe, after that i see the new splash logo, and i can get into bootloader (color) screen. I never saw any windows mobile running on this device! I could never establish a connection with ActiveSync!
So i hope that someone here on this nice forum can help me get this device to work (WM5 would even be enough right now) or at least give me a hint!
Thanks in advance!
Put the phone in bootloader mode and flash back to the original ROM.
since i bought it in ebay i don't have the original rom of this device.
but i found "233309-qtek9100_2180707_21807109_20710_qtek_ger_ship.exe" through google, which seems to be an original qtek rom (version 2.18). shall i flash this one?
You can find in the Wiki the latest official roms of every brand for our Wizards .-
ok, thanks.
i found one (Qtek GER 2.18.7) and flashed it. the process was successfull, now the IPL/SPL is both 2.18 . But the device still doesn't start and stops at the splash screen (which is now the original qtek splash again). I can still get into bootloader mode and hard reset results in "Format is failed"! No ActiveSync connection either... how should i proceed now?
i basically narrowed it down to these two problems:
- the splash screen freezes
- hard reset error "Format is failed"
( IPL: 2.18, SPL: 2.18 )
can't anybody help please?
i'm freaking out about this
With everything i’ve read the only people who’ve had any success had CID unlocked devices.
ok, i think that too for what i've read so far...
is there any other way of CID unlocking except lokiwiz (can't copy enablerapi.cab without activesync!)?
would this imei-check service that i've read about work in this case?
meanwhile i've also tried something with mtty (r2sd all) but doesn't work -> "didn't get proper security level"
is this also because of the CID lock? i tried to find out the right password to enter in mtty, but found nothing that worked...
does anybody know the correct password?
I couldent CID unluck my 9100 with lokiwiz so i did it 5min ago with Wizard Service Tool (ha to reboot my computer).
I'm having the exact same problem,

Hi i had the same problem the other week, installed a dodgy app, went to do a hard reset and wouldn't do a hard reset format failed. Tried updating rom everything worked ok until you booted it up. Wouldn't go past second splash sreen. After a few hours of trawling round i found this thread.

Ok guys, I finally have this SOLVED.
My QTEK 9100 is working fine now!!!
I'm so happy with it right now
Since nothing I tried worked, I went to imei-check.co.uk and got my phone completly unlocked! It only cost me about 11€ and since it works now I have to admit that it was worth it (no advertising). After the unlocking was done I could do the "r2sd all"-method (Tool: MTTY 1.42) using a miniSD card. You can find a good tutorial on this board somewhere. After that everything was just fine...
-> I never saw it working and Hell Yeah: This baby just kicks a$$ !!! (although it's kinda 'oldschool' these days )
