My phone stays connected to usb while its not connected to a usb. and if i turn it off it has a circle that pops up on the screen for as long as i hold the power button but the phone wont boot.
Could this be because i recently flashed a new firmware?

This a known HARDWARE fault with a percentage of the first batch that came to the UK, more noticably with UK "T-Mobile" & "Orange" Service Provider versions.
No amount of flashing/reflashing, pulling apart and cleaning etc will resolve this. Plugging a Micro-USB into the phone socket allows the phone to turn on yes? (it doesn't have to be connected to a power outlet/PC). Watch the memory card contents though as it's wiped 3 Micro SDHC cards because of this!
We've had three replaced by Orange/Samsung and finally the third went back two weeks ago.. needless to say Samsung have apologised (and Orange) again and have now sent us a new one of a different batch. All good, running 2.2 JPK
Basically send it back through your Service Provider, or via Samsung if it was bought SIM-Free

I've been reading forums all day long looking for answers but I can't seem to find a solution, so my apologies if someone has a solution in a thread that I missed but I couldn't find anything.
I have Rogers Captivate which I had applied the One Click Lag Fix that worked great. I then decided to flash a custom rom with Odin. In the middle of the flash, my pc lost power (battery ran out, forgot to plug it into the wall) and the bar on my Captivate showing the progress stopped. After I turned the computer back on, I turned off my phone (since it was stuck an I thought it was a good idea) and tried to turn it on with no success.
As far as I can tell, it's COMPLETELY dead.
Here's everything I've tried:
- ALL (and I mean ALL) button combinations
- There's no power bar, absolutely nothing showing
- I've taken sim and battery out and tried connecting to the pc, no luck
- I've tried letting it charge although the screen is dead (meaning black) and the soft keys don't light up so I have no idea if it's charging
- When I plug the phone into my pc, it doesn't even detect it
- Can't get ANYTHING to show up on the screen. I hold power, it doesn't turn on. I hold Vol up and down and nothing.
I don't know if there's anything on the board I can do to reset or something. Is my phone completely toast? If so, I'll have to resort to getting a replacement through the 1 year manufacturer's warranty which sucks, but oh well.
Thank you all for any assistance you can provide. I would hate to go back to my iPhone 4 ((

Did you try pulling battery, then holding Vol+ and Vol- and plugging in USB?
Have you tried a USB jig?
I had to disconnect my phone mid-Odin a few times before. I was able to use a JIG to get back into Download Mode and restore it to a working state. Might wanna try that!

I think this guy's phone really is toast though - no activity, nadda?
The only other thing I can think of - is make sure the USB cable is plugged directly into your computer's motherboard USB Ports.
Then try the above - pull out sime batt etc... plug in the USB with the battery out - then jam the battery back in while holding down the volume buttons.
If this doesn't work or the Jig.. Warranty Time with AT&T (Happy Times )
I would say the jig is worth a shot, I have seen several people say they came back from a black screen with the jig.
If you are just getting a black screen when you try to turn it on then the phone is most likely done. I know it's too late but it is extremely important that when flashing your phone that there is no chance of loosing power to your compuer.
I would still suggest to try the JIG option if you haven't already. Each bricked phone acts differently. My first phone I was able to get into download mode with the JIG but even after flashing it 3 times it still would be stuck on the AT&T logo loop. Likely because of a hardware related issue. I would check with your carrier and see what you options are after trying to use a JIG. Or you can call Samung and they might be able to repair the phone for a couple hundred. Which is still cheaper then paying $400 for a new one.
I had a similar issue where I got a purple screen flashin stock with odin...and then phone acted ''dead'' no response on any end...what I did was take take sim out and battery and did the volume down and power while putting in batter after every attempt with all other button attempts and putting usb in
About ten seconds the time it takes the art screen in my case to flash and after about fifty attempts it went into d.l mode

Mine got stuck in the white ATT logo loop once, and it just took many, many tries to get ODIN to recognize, but it eventually came around, and has been great ever since. If it is really bricked, you have nothing to lose, so you might as well go hardcore.
Same thing happen to me yesterday! And the jigg saved my phone. Thank you jigg

After my first update the phone is dead, I have my htc inc s for one
week(I think it was android 2.3.3 and it worked fine yesterday I got
update notification I've downloaded it and then the phone shutted down
and started with the dark screen with the green arrows in circle and
one inside facing down symbol and it stayed like that forever!I took
battery out and put back press power and its the same symbol! The phone
is from china got it from ebay and if I need to send it back for fixing
it will take a lot of time to come back!
So I tried battery out back in, volume down + pover the same green
arrow symbol, like this when plugged in my pc doesnt do nothing, after I
tried battery out than in, volume up + power and I got 3 vibes, orange
light and black screen, when plugged to my pc i says "qualcom CDMA
technologies MSM" device and it searches for drivers!
I dont believe that its possible to brick my device with the first
update that I got from the mobile network and I never touched nothing
like rooting or messing with my phone...
So what can I do now to fix it without losing my waranty and having
everything like it was before stock and working???
PLEASE HELP PLEASE HELP!!!

Hi, today I was watching a video on YouTube when my phone randomly turned off, and would not turn back on, I've tried to boot it by holding down volume down and pressing power button at same time, and tried volume up and power button too, Then I tried holding the phone directly under a desk lamp bulb (bright light trick) That didn't help neither, I had 60% battery when phone died, I tried charging with cable and charger it came with out of the box, I tried using a different cable, and an ipad charger trying it with both cables, Tried to check and see if my computer would recognize it and no, I plug it into the comp and nothing.
Is there any other tricks? I was running the latest SlimBean 4.2.2 and i have TWRP.
Since phone doesn't turn on, can I just take it back to AT&T for replacement in store, I bought it on release date from them. Ant other tricks?

Take it back, its a paperweight as is. You've tried everything i would've suggested. Something obviously failed, no tricks or common fixes for your issue. Just broken
After 14 days you deal with warranty services. Just call at&t and they will send you a new one. You send them the dead one. It's quick and painless.

Ah okay, so going into store is no use? even if i got insurance?
Nope. Unless you have a repair center. But you will probably have a new phone by day after tomorrow. Turn around time is usually next business day.

Thanks well I called them and they're sending a replacement phone, Wish they could replace it with a black one, Also i've been told its not brand new, I hope the device they send has no scratches or gaps, Mine didn't have any.. also I had a custom rom loaded on my device... it was rooted, will it be a problem and will they find out once they receive my device?, I can't turn it on so i cant turn it back to stock.
I've never gotten a refurbished phone that didn't look perfect. And it's bricked so they won't be able to tell anything and wouldn't care anyway.
Hello
Recently i've bought an broken screen Xperia Z, for repair it (i got it like $300 bucks cheaper) and i was ready to buy the screen, but i battery was drained and i could not test it right, when i connected to the charger, it started red light, vibrate, then 3 continuous vibes, read on the internet, OK BATTERY DRAINED, i left it charge THE WHOLE NIGHT, and when i woke up in the morning it was orange (charging), later in the day it was green (charged) but when i disconnect it, it wont turn on anyways, when i connect it to a pc, it goes blue light (wich later i read it was fastboot mode). i read for making a repair with PCC, but it didnt fixed it, then i flashed it with Flashtool, with the latest software (wich had the Sudden death issue fixed) no luck. it wont boot. for it to boot, i have to connect it to PC and with fastboot run "fastboot continue", but most of the time, it reboots and goes redlight and vibrate 3 times then reboot, so i press the power button and it enters fastboot mode (if connected to PC) or loads charging if connected to wall charger, but it reboots again and goes to redlight vibrate reboot, sometimes it stay charging or in fastboot mode, but only "works" if connected in the USB.
when it stays in fastboot, i do "fastboot continue" and it loads the OS, and it works (well, the things i can do with a broken LCD/Touchscreen, i put my sim card and could call it, and it works, but i cant pick up the call). i can explore the phone memory etc. but if it reboots or if i disconnect the USB, it will almost always turn off. i havn't found a solution (or idea) of what can happen, i dont know if its normal since it has broken lcd/touchscreen or it definitely have a huge problem,
any ideas?
thanks in advance!
Maybe the battery is damaged, and the phone knows it and boots into some sort of safe mode to spare internal damage? When the is has booted you can take screenshots with adb if you have usb debugging enabled. Maybe try see if the os says the battery is damaged?

Well, actually it doesnt seem the battery is damaged, fisically looks ok and it holds charge, i cant debug because usb debugging comes off by default when flash stock software.

Correct me if i am wrong but does the xperia z not support usg-otg and mhl? You could rig the phone up to the tv with a mhl-hdmi cable and maybe use a usb mouse to select things, and enable usb debugging?

Nice idea, now i need to find who in this country (DR) have that adapter
i ordered the LCD screen assembly for repair it myself, but im still concerned about this, as i dont know if it will boot up anyways
my phone right now isnt booting. but as i cant see images i dont know what is it showing.
i noticed the touch screen is working indeed. (when booted, it plays sounds when tapping)
i will wait till the lcd assembly arrives. any ways, any other ideas on what may happen?
the ex-owner of the phone said it started like that when it fell and broke the lcd.
OK now, i've installed the LCD, the phone works, its ON, BUT the Volume Up button and the Power Button does not work when the phone is ON,
the Vol UP button seems always be pressed cause when i press the power button for some seconds, the Phone restarts and not power off or lock/unlock
Service tests: None of these buttons where recognized.
any ideas on any hardware fixes i could try?
I FIXED IT!!
dissasembled the phone, took out the side button flex cable and the volume up button on the flex was dirty, so it was having a false contact. (wich made the button always be pressed)
I took out the yellow tape and cleaned with alcohol and a needle (its so freakin small) and put the tape again and assembled the phone and voila! IT WORKS OK!!
Yes the vol up button pressed means u get fastboot. Now that you fixed the problem and repaired the phone enjoy. Btw nice job getting it up and running.

Hello all, something weird happened to my phone today and I would please like some help to get it back working.
So as I was in the ebay application when the phone suddenly froze. I left it for a minute hoping that it will unfreeze but it didn't. So I long pressed the power button in order to do a hard reset. The phone shut down and then its started booting but it got stuck at the Samsung logo with the yellow triangle. I thought that was weird as it never did this before, so I long pressed the power button in order to do another hard reset. But since then, the phone is dead.
It cannot start, when I plug it in the charger the battery icon doesn't show, and I cannot get into recovery or download mode
I have tried removing the battery/simcard/sd card but nothing seemed to work. The phone was running Nightowl's Marshmallow rom.
About a month ago I changed the charging port flex cable with a cheap one off ebay. Could that be the culprit? It seemed to work fine though.
Does this mean the end of the long life of my device or is there any hope of reviving it back?
Thanks a lot in advance
Hello. It is probably a hardware problem. Take it to service center to check the usb micro port, pmc or emmc. Or just leave it alone for some time and try to boot it again.
