I'm looking for an app that would password protect and/or hide a thread in my sms messages.
Does anyone have or has seen an app that just does this?
Just for anyone who wanted to know, i have found seal to be one of the best locking apps around , am deffo going to be purchasing this after my trial ends.

I can't seem to find any recent version of App Vault (for root users).. and the dates on the most recent are from July so I doubt they would work on FroYo.
This week I updated to FroYo and rooted. Now I'm looking for App Vault or something similar.
Not only do I like the password protection feature, I love the idea of being able to hide the fact that those apps are even on the phone. In otherwords, I'd like an app that requires opening and entering the password to access "hidden" apps. So if the app is protected it is also hidden from the app drawer.
Can anybody help me out with this?
Thanks in advanced!
EDIT: Better yet, if you could select which of the password protected apps are hidden, that would be the ultimate! And I'd sure as hell pay a bit more for this kind of app.
Your old app vault should work with 2.2, froyo is backward compatible

I haven't used it before, but thanks for letting me know!
One more question.. I have been trying the trial versions of a few apps and realized something... I only want my apps locked when I am done using my phone, or if I give the phone to somebody else...
It get's annoying entering a password every time i go into any of these apps, especially when going back and forth between like messaging while in settings or managing apps etc..
Is there a lock type app that will lock certain apps with a widget? then when unlocked stays unlocked until I lock them again?
Hey people! I've been getting billed am extra few dollars a month for text messages being sent to kansas.
I am thinking it is an app that I've downloaded but don't know which..is there an app that can show which apps have access to sending messages?
I am running cyanogen mod and just activated phone goggles so hopefully that helps as well.

Could be a quicker but I would check through installed apps permissions. It'll tell you there if they have access to send/receive SMS
well if you do find out what app it was please post here so we can avoid using it, Dont like the idea of SMS being sent without me knowing.
If its a reputable app, and is caused by a bug, i would tell the developer and hope for some compensation,
Lucky you found out when you did
Could try using LBE Privacy Guard too - it sorts the installed apps' permissions quite nicely. Free in the market. When you find out which app is doing it, let us know!
I have narrowed it down to live texas hold em or live profile.. Both require access to sending sms messages

Not quite sure what is responsible, but it seems an app that I've installed is placing ****ty ad links into my bloody status bar.
Has anyone else come across this? And is there any way I can find out which app is causing it?
yep
Check for an app call airpush detection its free in the market. Those ads come from a app you download for free in the market, they have spam ads attached to them. The app that was causing the problem for me was music download. These spam ads are also putting search widgets on your home screen. Just google air push ads to get more info on it.
Nice one, cheers mate. I'm all for devs putting some adds into their apps, but pushing them to my status bar when the app isn't even running? that's going too far.
Turns out it was a golauncher theme.

[Q] Random "Free Music" app appeared on my touchpad in place of Google Play Store
My Touchpad was charging today and I just went to check on it. I unlocked the device and sitting right where the Google Play Store app shortcut used to be on my homescreen was an app called "Free Music" and it had the old itunes icon. I accidentally clicked on it as I was trying to long press it and remove it from my homescreen. It launched the Google play store as if the real app shortcut was there. After I removed it from my homescreen I checked the app drawer and did not see the app.
I am running CM 9 Alpha 2. Has anyone else experienced this? Is there malware on my TP, or a Virus? Any help is appreciated. Thanks
Me too
I havent checked my touchpad with CM9A2, but my Acer Iconia with CM9-ported had this appear too.
I did not have this 3/8 afternoon, and had my tablet off yesterday night 3/8, and turned it on today 3/9, and it appeared shortly after.
Very strange and suspicious to have an itunes logo-ed shortcut "self-install"
Hope some more people can shed some insight into this.
Are we android user's getting hacked/compromised? (beyond what Google is already sucking off our tablets)
Whew
Okay, at least someone else had this happen. Now we just need to figure out what it is. Did you notice anything else funky? I couldn't find anything else that was weird, however I noticed this weird chinese app all the way in the bottom of my "All" apps list and I have since disabled it out of caution. Let me know if you have this app.
Did you just remove the app from the homescreen or open it also like I did? I really can't think of any app I installed that could have done this except one. This "watch TV" app, that I also uninstalled since just in case. I hope someone can explain this to us.
I just removed it from the homescreen (luckily did not click it to open by accident)
I dont have any Chinese/Foreign language apps on my All Apps.
I also dont have that "Watch TV" app.

I got a response from the Iconia forum, and I found my Pin to Pintrest App that allowed push installs. Do you have the same app?
Interesting
I don't have that app, but it could have been a different app that had the same type of air install thing. I uninstalled a bunch of apps that I didn't use that much, one of them might have had this feature enabled. Ill download that detector and see if any app on my tablet has that.
Thanks
While I'm at work, I email back and forth to my girlfriend. She just switched from a Sprint S5 to an AT&T S5 and she's experienced this on both phones. After an email thread (conversation) gets a pretty good buildup of emails (today it happened in two different conversations - once after 20 emails and the second time after 40 emails), when she goes to hit reply, it will do one of two things...
1. if she has any apps open in the background, the screen will turn white and then it will switch to that app (or the last app she had open)
2. Or, if she doesn't have any recent apps, it will go to her home screen after the white screen.
Almost seems like that app is crashing, but there's no errors or anything like that stating that Gmail has stopped working or whatever. I tried searching XDA for a general Q&A help section or an app Q&A help section, but couldn't find either where I thought this would fit.
Hopefully someone is able to help out, or at least point me in the right direction. Thank you!
Bump... Anyone have any ideas? Anyone know a better place to ask? Thanks!
