Call tone - Captivate Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I'm wondering. Is there any way to impliment a way to make your phone make a sound when a call is disconnected?
I upgraded from a moto Z9 and was a bit disappointed when i saw there wasn't a setting for that. ; ;

I think the I9000 roms have that function, or maybe it was the vibrant rom... franken twiz I think its called. I know I had a rom with that option... damn ive flashed too many times.
oh and I am sure someone will tell you this belongs in the general or q&A sections. But I am not going to tell you that.

The i9000 ROMs do have it.

hey DG, if you read this. plz put it in cognition

yes, please-please-pretty-please!!!! I've been badly missing this feature

dual rom?

this is probably a stupid ass question!!! lol but when i had my vogue, on the android port to it when running off of nand you were able to run a second rom off of your sdcard. so when you go into recovery you just swap from ''sdcard'' to ''nand'' and vise versa. now....here's the dumb question..... is this possible on our hero's?
I remember hearing about this before but not sure which phone

Comparison of Different HSUPA i9000 Modems in Captivate

Hi everyone -
I'd like to know the difference between each HSUPA i9000 modem that has been tested in the Captivate
I think it would be good to know what the strengths are, when / where it first emerged, and known issues with it.
If you post below I can keep this updated.
I'll start:
JG8 - i9000 Eclair ROM. Works for enabling 850 band for those launching a reorientated kernel. Do not use with Froyo.
JPP - i9000 Froyo ROM.
General principles:
- don't mix an i9000 modem with a cappy kernel or visa versa
Known issues with using an i9000 modem:
-bluetooth voice quality
-wired headsets don't work on mic
thanks all!
bump, i was just gonna ask the same question
The problem with asking questions like this in the Q&A section is that all the developers that can answer it well hang out in the Android development section and never come over here
And people wonder why there is so much spam in that thread.
C'mon guys, help me out, and lets prove that we don't have to start technical question threads in Android development in order to get an answer.

Can some1 tell me which taste batter? Orange or lemon?

yeah real helpful. is there any difference in frequency support? can bluetooth work corectly along side hsupa yet?
which is the most recent? jg8, jpp, jpm? does one need to be installed before the other? are there any other known problems? battery drain? instability? ect?
someone must know

Haha funny! I thought of doing that myself but the problem with n=1 is that all you guys would get spammed with my own quirks. Hence why I didn't add the point about JG8 FC'ing on me under JG8- most people haven't said that - so I just have a weird bug with my location/hardware/who knows what. I'd kinda be spreading disinformation if I put it down as "truth"
Anyways, anything that anyone wants to contribute I'd be more than happy to include. I think it would be helpful. THanks.

As you can see, I have no idea which one I should choose. This information is embedded within 1000's of pages of material and a good 30 minutes to an hour of reading didn't get me anywhere useful.
I had issues with JG8 FC'ing. Obviously not the case for everyone but in my circumstance I'm looking to try an alternative.

Well the one problem I find with every HSUPA modem is the Bluetooth quality sucks...Since Bluetooth is more important for me I don't use them anymore...Upload speeds are nice but I don't really need it...

[Q] Best Gingerbread ROM for CDMA

Guys,
Is there any new ROM's out with GB on them? Because I say the TastyGinger for the GSM one, and I was wondering if there were any similar to that. A 2.2 ROM would also be good, but specialized for the Hero. My CM6 doesnt cut it anymore, it lags, and the Stock 2.1 is glitchy (some lag, apps not showing, memory leak). A sense based 2.2 or 2.3 ROM (if it's out there) would be the best. Thanks for replying

oh my effing god, you cannot be for real.
hahahahahaha
To his credit, at least its not in the development forum as most threads of this extremely low caliber tend to be.
But this is still really really sad
I'm pretty sure it takes more effort to post a new thread than to read the titles of pre-existing ones and realize the answer is right in front of you.

Since there's only 1 rom with GB for cdma Hero, that should narrow it down for you.
I think you missed the "GSM hero" part of that post Davec.
edit: or I missed everything else...

No. I didn't miss reading comprehension class either.
Huh
What are you talking about?
I think I must've said something stupid LoL.
Okay, okay, but what about the 2.2 portion? Sorry, I haven't been on this site in a while, so I haven't really been keeping myself up-to-date.
Sorry??
Nice reply:
There is only ONE gingerbread ROM for the CDMA Hero. Here it is
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=864403
Sense ROMs withs 2.3 do not exist AFAIK. For the CDMA Hero, nfinitefx, beezy420 and others have worked on a 2.2 Sense ROM but I don't think it ever reached a "final," or stable release. Sense on our phones is pretty much limited to 2.1.

I'm sorry for not looking first okay? No need to be rude, I just got introduced to this ROM stuff anyway.

You didn't answer either.
Have you been sized for your tampon?
Can you all please relax. This is really quite childish. Just use AOSP. It's totally bomb, and fast as hell. Problem solved.
Thank you every one for all of your hard work.

[Q] Increasing in call volume?

As the title says, how do I do this? (is it possible). I'm currently on serendipity 7 and I love the rom. Problem I have is the same prob I have with all GB roms, and most I9000 roms, (I'm an I897), call quality. Through trial and error I have found that jl2 and jl3 modems offer the best quality for myself and the people I am speaking with, however I would really like to increase the volume in my earpiece. It's ok, but it's a lot lower than any kb1 I've used. I have the volume all the way up, and sometimes it's a struggle to hear the person I am speaking with. I have sgs tools and I've investigated in the volume controls of the audio section. Problem is there are so many options for tweaking and I don't want to just go in and start increasing numbers that I don't know what they're for. Any guidance on which numbers I should increase to hopefully solve this issue? Also, galaxy tuner gives me issues, mostly just not working, so I don't think this is an option. Any advice would be greatly appreciated. And yes, I searched this before posting, and didn't find what I was looking for.
There's a Serendipity sticky in this forum for exactly these kinds of ROM-specific questions. Please use them. <---Smiley to avoid being characterized as a "****" again.
Not calling you a ****, but if you read my post, my question isn't rom specific. It's referring to all GB roms and I9000 roms in my experience. Can anyone else help?

In-call volume is a known Cappy problem that is fixed in many of the custom ROMs available here. Some do a better job than others, but it is a ROM-specific issue.
I say try a rom that is based on kb1 the official froyo build. The kb1 kernel had the proper drivers fire the audience chip used in the captivate. The I9000 uses a different chip so all I9000 roms will not have the use of the audience chip for noise cancellation.
Roms like cognition and fusion might be worth a shot.
Thanks studacris. I actually am running cog 4 on my other cappy, I just love using my gb cappy more. Just hoping there was a way to get same/similar call volume as my cog phone. So is tweaks with sgs tools useless with the gb/I9000 roms? Are you the captivate creator? You know everything bout this phone! Lol!
Sent from my SGH-I897 using XDA App
Lol. I have no idea about the sgs tools tweaks, I get about 1 call a week never really looked into it myself.
I don't blame you for wanting gb it's pretty sweet, I haven't gone to froyo since I made the jump. If you want audience chip support and gingerbread goodness keep an eye on this thread http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1125596
This should be in the sticky, thread closed.

Too bad... could you at least return to the original ROM (assuming you were using original stock ROM)?
If you could give us more details...
shame
i just purchased the t-499 myself and its a shame that such a new/great phone has so little support, ive looked all over google and only gotten mixed answers and dead end threads. icant even figure out if galaxy mini roms are cross compatible to the dart or not. its actually a good phone with a decent screen if u change the lcd_density to 100 the resolution is pretty decent.
if someone can help me a little it would be greatly appreciated, atleast point me in the right direction.
Not sure where else to post this, but can someone tell me if I can use a bootanimation.zip on the Samsung Dart? I've looked at a lot of threads on how to do this, used ROM toolbox to move files around, but haven't had any luck. I'd just like to know for sure so I don't drive myself crazy and waste more time!

On he stock Dart rom, no.
Samsung apparently uses some weird proprietary bootanimation format.
I am running the CM7 port in my sig from the MadTeam Forums and it of course uses bootanimation.zip's and I even have enabled boot sounds on it.
It's a good rom, couple of really minor bugs like button lights don't work and slow to wake on incoming calls, but overall quite stable.
Bummer....I guess I'll have to wait til I can upgrade to a new phone
they have make new rom for dart
