[Q] Any way to port a keyboard form another ROM? - Nexus One Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hey guys, I'm currently using CyanogenMod 6 Nightly_N1 ROM on my Nexus One and would like to know if there is a way to extract the modded keyboard from RoDrIgUeZsTyLe™ 1.9.1 ROM (black android keyboard with rounded keys) and install it on the CM 6 nightly N1 ROM? If someone could assist, I'd appreciate it. Not sure if this is the right thread to ask.
Thanks in advance.

Danny

You could possibly just import the APK from that ROM.

[Q] How to install default semc input keybord in custom rom

Hello all.
I am running FroyoBread 0.25 on my xperia X8. It's wonderful rom in my opinion but, i want to ask you if there is a way to install the original Sony Ericsson keyboard on it. It have Android Keyboard, (LatinIME) installed and HTC-ime. The second is for the trash for me, and Android Keyboard is very good but i think that the stock keyboard is the best. I've managed to extract it from my Original Rom backup and installed it. But when I try to activate it, I get a crash error. So is there somebody to help me in this. Thank you in advance.
U can try froyo pro v1.1.
Its the same as the rom ur using (which is racht's floyo v0.25).
It got stock keyboard and a bit more modification...

@maliceomalice can I update without system reset / full wipe because i don't want to loose all apps and settings.
Edit: And is the stock keyboard included and the other modifications
Edit: Ok don't bother to answer me i took a look on the change log. Well I am downloading it and I am going to install it because look COOL. And the most inportant, the froyo unlock sliders are transparent

Q&A forum...
Try out http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=42074948&postcount=2091 .. its for Jellybean 4.2 (Jellyshot) but if you nandroid first , you should be ok..
ACtually just switch to Jelly shot , It's better than stock 4.1.1 (I think)..
Thanks for replying mate... in what ways do you think jelly shot is better than stock? Ill need the pros and cons before I switch from the already very stable stock towards another rom... thanks

Actually I would want to stick onto stock because of it's reliability and stability... isn't there a legit way for porting inverted versions of messaging and contacts and the calendar?

Hi, you could flash a rom that has themes enabled in it, and install a black theme from PlayStore, such as black exodus .
I would recommend CyanogenMod 10.1 ReleaseCandidate, they are really stable, and offer far better experience than stock android.
About pros and cons, do a nandroid of your stock android and try CM10.1 If you do this dont forget to flash latest JB Gapps

The reason you are having problems is because you are on stock with odex apks. Stock ROMs applications have odex files which is supposed to allow for faster booting of applications. Custom ROMs have deodexed apps which allows for customization and theming. If you want the inverted apps you will need to flash a custom deodexed rom. I have been running the latest CM-RC5 with inverted gapps with absolutely no stability issues.
If you want to theme and customize apps, simply make a nandroid backup of your stock rom and start flashing ROMS available for your phone. The possibilities for customization are just not there for stock rooted phones.
Good luck:good:

IMHO,
The custom Rom that nearly to stock is Rasbeanjelly, the most smooth and stable I thought. And that Rom also already has the black contact, mms and calendar.
