might be a stupid question in general but is any developing heading towards steering up the ****ty smoothness in the galaxy s in general?
feels like im running 5 fps at some points, so i was kinda wondering..
ofc iops is is crap aswell but i dont really mind ****ty accesstimes as long as the smoothness is preserved, so~
can anything be done about this or do i throw this piece of .."phone" under my 70ton excavator? ;(
//regards azure
READ THE FORUM!
There are plenty of fixes.
@Mods: Close this thread asap!
sadly none of em fixes the smoothness, they just boast higher io rate not fps >_<
im not sure if you know what the difference between "rendered frames per sec" is vs "reads/writes from an sdchip" causing i/o lag
but in short it means theres 2 types of "lags" one of them being addressed atm, and sadly its not the fps one.
or are my demands too high to request from the phone? >_<
I'm not really sure what exactly you're referring to when you say "smoothness", but try using a different launcher (I'd recommend LauncherPro). LauncherPro has always felt "smoother" to me!
yes, a good example of smoothness on 2.1. whats worse is that on the new firmwares it constantly dips when it goes beneath 22mb cache causing a frameratedrop, and due to the galaxy s being hampered with vsync w/o the fps to back the refreshrate up it stutters i.e gets halved fps for a short amount of time, might just be a sec or 2 but when its constantly there it starts to grow out as a nail in the eye ;(
and my highest wish ofc is to be able to use the tw appdrawer style which isnt possible with anything else today ;(
although thank you very mucho for the tip and im open for any other suggestions aswell, gonna try to get a hold of the driverfile in the meantime
people are trying to tell you the problem is not in the video, which is true.
you are experiencing the lag, that many are complaining about.
the system lags when you've got too many apps running or iddling in the background.
you can either install the various lag fixes people have developed
or you can simply install a good task manager + auto run killer and control which apps to allow in memory, and which should be closed when not in use.
well quite frankly i dont even need a single app installed or opened to see it, just freshly install any 2.2 fw and pinch, there you have it, open up the apppreviews in the same manner, once again, even if it opens up faster with any lagfix (ill hand you that much atleast since ive tried all availible fw's and lagfixes, kernels you name it) it still looks at the very least as its frameskipping like an old NES >_<
if that is the case, it might be a defective screen/video in your unit.
might want to consider having it exchanged..
I can count at most roughly 5 people that have mentioned something similar to what you found.
Personally i'm still on stock 2.1 and i do not see those flame skipping you have described.
do you have any App specifically where to reproduce this?
i play 3D games and run all kind of apps in my SGS and it've yet to see a skipped frame
aye i do too and i havent noticed anything quite as severe as the homescreen other when the framerate drops from vsync 1:1 to 2:1 or even 4:1 ( clearly visible in quadrant bench when its up on 56 its smooth and when it drops to 30 its choppy) ideally id just wanna rid myself of it since i doubt ill have to worry about screentearing on an sgx540 lol and the biggest hickup would be somewhat soothened since i imagine the real frame drop is less than 50%, anyways thx for the feedback, gonna have it turned in for a check and stop using the ip4 >_<

Hi all,
For those already using the LG 2x as their daily phone, may i just ask how's the performance in terms of daily usage? Some reviews says it's speedy, so does benchmarks but i have also read reviews that said it should be much better considering that it's dual core and at times, there's some slight stuttering due to the custom froyo skin that LG has.
I'm presently using a Nexus S and it's smooth as butter running custom roms and oc kernel. I'll probably be able to sell off the phone at no loss and top up something like USD120 to get the LG 2x when it arrives in Singapore in the next 2-3 weeks.
Anyone here that have tried both phones and able to provide me with some insights on if i should bother switching? How's the real life use (browsing net, playing music, batt life while playing games etc) difference felt between the processing powers of the two phones?
As it is, the Nexus S can do everything i want except for those Tegra 2 only games. I don't really need a 1080 HD video capability, HDMI mirroring and the 16 Gig space, although limiting is not a deal breaker for me.
Has there been any indications that it'll be able to run custom roms and kernel soon? i know paul from modaco is looking into it at the moment.
Thanks all!
Hi there, I'm also considering between Nexus S and Optimus 2x.
Would appreciate any feedbacks from the users here.
About custom roms - Paul said yesterday that today would be available beta of clockworkmod for download, everything seems that O2X will be great phone for custom roms and stuff Probably there will be functioning Clockwork Mod and developers cooking even before you even get your O2x )
It is lightning fast, and much faster than the Nexus S on stock 2.3. I know because I tried them side by side.
The reviews are correct though, there is some stuttering. I'd say it's annoying as hell, but I'm an impatient guy when it comes to tech-gadgets. I'm sure it's only software issues that will be addressed, either by LG or by custom ROM's.
Sometimes it takes about 5-10 seconds to open the apps list when adding them to the home screen, and sometimes it's as quick as expected.
Sometimes it will stutter while scrolling but most of the time it's smooth as butter. You can clearly tell that there's nothing wrong with the performance because of the smoothness, but there are undoubtedly some serious flaws in the implementation causing intermittent stutter that needs to be addressed.
Playing games is as smooth as I've ever seen. It's simply amazing; There's no stutter or lag AT ALL, so the stuttering you see in the menus seem to be fairly isolated. So far I have tested Angry Birds and AB Rio in addition to Fruit Ninja + Samurai II from Tegra Zone. Samurai II on the TV looks better than a Wii game and is closer to PS3 to be honest.
Another evidence of the incredible performance is the Gallery app. My jaw dropped to the floor when I saw how quick and smooth it is. My Nexus One is like an old Sony Ericsson with Symbian in comparison. If you haven't tried an SE phone with Symbian, consider yourself lucky.
One thing also worth considering is the fact that Froyo is not really optimised for DualCore phones. When gingerbread hits the LG 2x then the speed difference between it and other single core phones should become even more apparent.
the only problem i have with o2x is LG's poor implementation of the LG skin on it. LG's UI w/c i believe can easily be fixed by tweaks/updates or custom roms. that's why im quite happy that g2x will come with vanilla android froyo.
hope LG recognizes the 'MINOR' flaws and stuttering when on the menu/app drawer. but besides that, all other things like browsing, gaming, camera, texting, calling etc are Great and is superior than any other phones in the market as of the moment.

Gingerbread isn't currently optimized to take advantage of the dual core devices either... Hence the information about a version 2.4 of Gingerbread dropping in April. http://goo.gl/b7P0g
I had mine for 8 days now and Im still not used to how fast it is!
My last phone was a HTC Hero, wich I really cant compare it to, but I have played around a lot with iPhone 4, Samsung Galaxy S and Desire HD and my phone eat em for breakfast. Mutitasking games like Angry Birds and Reckless Drivning is really fast and smooth.
Even though 02X dont have 2D accelerated graphics and iPhone 4 does, the smoothness in the menus are pretty much the same.
Amazing fast phone used my old desire (moved to my wife) and it scared the heck out of me found it very slow go figure lol
My son and I uses both the 2x and coming from desires...
Love the screen over the amoled great quality only notice with black when playing not a full screen movie... But the again almost not seen this...
Browsing the net is great and fast deciding which browser to use dolphin mini or opera the latest with flash.
Actually we found the camera great and the sound is great too...
Running myself launcherpro and the diskspace room 1.45gb to store apps beside the sd.
That's what i hated with my desire lol 148 mb
Battery life is building up nice now after 12 days 38 hours normal usage and heavy 8 hours...
lol and we have gorilla glass too
Bottom line an amazing fast phone just love it.

The stutter/lag I saw some of seems to be as good as gone after upgrading with all the latest stuff from MoDaCo.
Ok guys just a quick one... Checked out the phone for quite a bit at the retail shop...
First Impressions...
It's both fast & slow at times. However believe that this should be able to be addressed via software eg custom roms etc... Games tried all seem smooth. Opening of apps at times there was lag but it was somewhat random and can't quite pinpoint. Other times it was fast.
Installed Golauncher, ADW and LauncherPro and all seemed to work alright. Do note was just a quick one at the shop...
For those into it...
Quadrand Std - 2600 - 2700 +
Linpack Score - 36 MegaFlops...
Neocore - er sorry don't recall & first time running it... 75???
Nothing else really significant to say except that in a nutshell this phone has potential...
Hi all so let me start by saying ive always enjoyed this site and its users and help. unfortunately what brings me here is that Im having issues with some fluidity of this device based on what ive seen from other videos regarding games and their benchmarks. Ok so heres a few examples of titles im speaking of. Dead Trigger 1&2, Modern Combat 4, all of the Grand Theft Auto games. Even DraStic DS Emulator which ive seen running perfectly on a user posted Note 3. My wifes iPhone 5c runs these games literally perfect, my Note 3 struggles here and there. So that led me to running almost every benchmark i could think of and to my concern again all of my scores are coming up a hair shorter than other users. And gameplay isnt just quite as smooth as other user videos. I almost have no other issues with the device and im constantly taking care of its memory and cache. Even factory rest a few times. Its nothing more than normal Android hiccup that ive been used to. But with Project Butter and these other videos I just need to know if theres an issue with my device or did I get screwed buying the Note 3. Has anyone else noticed this? Either via gaming or web scrolling or the notorious Youtube Streaming smoothness issue. Please any help is greatly appreciated. Ive even taken the liberty of posting every screen cap of benchmarks that i took. You dont have to look at all the photos but im thorough so i gave you all of them.
I don't know what is wrong with your device but something doesn't seem right. You Antutu seems way low compared to mine and even the stock phone. Do you have any power saving apps running or something?

See thats what I dont understand its a factory reset. Heres my other concern with your screenie, yours is even higher than alot of scores Ive seen. So I cant quite get a figure on what the norm is for this device. Especially since there are so many versions with two different chipsets too boot. What I dont get is if these scores are the norm then why. Since as much as I hate iOS i have to give it credit where its due: ITS ABSOLUTELY SMOOTHER THAN A DEVICE WITH MORE PHYSICAL RAW POWER? My gripes arent even major the hiccups are only every now and then but for the most part I have a hard time seeing any other YouTube Note 3's that display the behavior. And its not even that its bad or doesnt work, i just got concerned with the hiccups.
I'm running a custom ROM. But yours is even lower than the stock mark?? Weird

Should really try and root and install safe strap and run a custom rom see if it help. Power saving mode on maybe?

I thought about trying the same idea of flashing it and Ive done many other devices. Buts thats not why I bought the device, I dont wanna brick it or just flat out tamper with it, and it seems hit or miss from person to person or at least what Ive seen. Reviews say it hiccups but videos Ive watched on youtube dont really do it or i cant quite notice it over the occasoinal stutter that youtube itself presents lol. Any ideas? Even the Exynos Bench's are alost identical to our SnapDragons save for one or two tests. i dont get it im confused lol.

No power save. And theres no AT&T Stock Binary yet. Im not messing with that OneClick lol. Any other ideas?
Id be just as satisfied if everyone can say their device runs all these games with out one single hiccup. Ever. Lol. I know Android games arent as optimized as ios but Im just trying to understand why or how to fix it or if some poeple have also experinced it. And like i said youtube stutters on its own on my laptop and Note 3 so its been hard to use that as a reference.Ive been able to use it to compare my ps3 games framerates but the quality of vidoes out there are crap since most are being recorded unprofeesionally. The other half is just as a i said hard to tell from youtube.
*bump*
*bump* I hate doing it, just looking for more input. Thanks.
I know you said you dont have "power save" on...but this sounds stuiped but I had this problem before...Even though your button says power save is off Have you clicked to the left of the button and bring this menu up and make sure its not on Auto on is enabled?
yeh auto save was enabled on mine.cool I took it off.Didn't even know that menu existed.lol
Ok so this was after turning every option I could think of. My question still remains that I don't understand why others are still getting higher results. Also these numbers have had no effect on gaming it still hiccups in most hardware intensive applications just slightly more than an iPhone 5c I just don't get it.
*bump*

have you ran the test after a reboot. i noticed on mine it was about 33500 but then when i redid the test after a reboot it did 36000

Well I've been keeping it eye on it more and i've gotten as high as 33,000 or whatever it was in that screenie but it's not consistent it'll drop back down in the 27'000 area. Plus like I said my main concern is I can't get this phone to play games as well as my wife's iPhone does. I mean this is a quad core right. Last I checked no iPhone should beat this on pen and paper right? And it's not unplayable and most wouldn't care but I just wanted to know if this hiccup here and there is acceptable as normal?

I'm getting around 34k too on benchmark, but I'm playing some games and it runs nice hmm

I contacted AT&T and they're sending me a replacement. Well see what happens then. But you guys never see a hiccup in your gaming. Never the slightest framerate dip? And i should clarify that when im comparing it to the iPhone the framerates there stay consistent. My device plays great but here and there it hiccups. That's actually what I'm really referring to. And if so how is that possible comparing it to s device of lesser power? I mean I don't make this stuff up I keep noticing that almost every game I play runs just that much better on my wife's iPhone 5c than a Note 3...
Would you say that the LG V10 is "fast" in day-to-day use? A higher rating indicates that you think the LG V10 exhibits fantastic performance. Like, is it as fast as your tears when you watch The Titanic?
Then, drop a comment if you have anything to add!
The ONLY lag I've seen up to this point is when I first set up the device and was restoring 130 apps, and tried to do something else too
I got the Moto X Pure edition on the release date. I had more lag on that phone than the V10. I haven't experience any lag. The V10 has been flawless for me so far. :good:
Pretty much on par with the LG G4. Smooth no unexpected lag.
I too experienced a slight studder at first boot while it was downloading, installing and restoring apps, syncing data while I tried to go into other settings at the same time. But it's expected and not at all an issue once first boot has settles.

No lag with my MXPE and I am a picky SOB No reviews call out lag that I recall, nor most users. You must have gotten a bad device
Good, fast (enough for me), no glitches whether on WiFi or Cellular.
So lg v10 fast and smooth like note 5 or not???
Wanna trade my note 5 with it
Actually I experience very severe lag on V10. twice withing 2 months of ownership of this device. the V10 does not response at all. even I try to long press the power button (trying to reboot it). after a minute or so, it become responsive.
I believe the reason for the lags partially because I enabled the full disk encryption on this device.
I still love this phone and thinking whenever I have chance. a factory reset might help to clean some stock bloatware and make if faster.
Good enough..
I experience lag with Youtube videos (it just completely stops playback for no reason at all), and while using Spotify. Benchmark results are terrible for a device that has high end specs. Obviously software-related issues which will never get fixed.
So I can't seem to find what kind of storage the V10 uses. I heard the Iphone 6s used a nvme based rom which apparently made the device a lot snappier.
I'm curious what type of rom the V10 uses, as it has so many innovative features, it would be strange if LG skipped over the rom.
I have the phone for several days now and i am yet to find something that it cannot handle. I tested 4K video playback from youtube using mozilla firefox (not the youtube app which is lighter) and it worked flawlessly. I even tried 15Mbps HD Stream over VPN connection which was also handled without any issue. The only thing that may be a problem is a very heavy game but i am not a gamer so i have not tested deeply with games. For me this is the best phone that i had for all these years.

I agree, the V10 is my first LG phone. I had HTCs, Samsungs and Apple phones before. The V10 is the best of them.

I am also very impressed with the phone. MIne is a company phone so have to keep it stock for the best part apart from disabling individual apps etc but I am a constant heavy user over approximately 10hrs each day and so far (had it a month) it hasn't missed a beat and battery life is very good compared to the S4 I was previously using.
The fastest phone after Nexus devices
Fast and smooth
Bur my mate 8 is faster and smoothe with kirin 950 beast
Did a side by side comparison of a friend's HTC 10 and the V10. Launch speed of all apps tested were very similar. I tested FB, camera, phone app, chrome, play store, settings, reboot, maps, but no games.
The SD808 is keeping up pretty well, even though it only gets half of the antutu score compared to the SD820. In everyday use, you don't really feel any difference. I think only gaming will be affected.
My v10 is fast and i can have the brightness up to max and charge this phone via usb on my laptops 3.0 port. My g4 keeps sucking battery down when on usb power
S7 vs V10

Really no need to upgrade if you're not a gamer and even if you are
Don't know if I should call it lag or what. But the knock thing is pretty frustrating. I don't know if the device misses my knocks or I don't knock properly.
And it takes some time when I try to wake it up at lock screen using knocks.
Apart from that. It is truly amazing Android phone. Its my first time using a fast Android phone. Just moved from iOS. Last Android phone that I used was Galaxy S2.
In love with speed of LG V10. Never thought android could be this fast.
Hello, i just bought Xiaomi Mi8 from HonorBuy and i'm using it for the past 2 days. Phones performance is good, expect some lags in the ui that xiaomi must fix. The weirdest thing i notice was, while i was playing clash royale after placing card with animation phone lagged for a little and this happened multiple times. I was used to have that lag on lg g4, but not expected on mi8. Also camera quality not that good like the samples i saw in the internet, expecially low light. Is anyone else having the same issues?

This is not the phone's fault.
That game is evil and will lag you no matter how powerful your phone is. Theb only way to fix that game is by buying stuff from their store to make out your cards lol
Otherwise it will give you tougher opponents with direct counter to your deck and lags with even with full WiFi connection.
About the camera, are you sure you can use a camera as good as the guys posting it on the internet?

No, that lag is no usual. Comparing it with sd 835 there is no lagging. Also i'm sure that you don't need any special skill to use camera on auto.

Well if you're sure about it then wait for a software update or something.
