HTC devices are boring

Is it me or do these devices get boring after awhile? I'm thinking about intentionally bricking my Tilt and restoring it just so I have something to do with it. Pretty pathetic I know. Nothing new or innovative has been released for it yet.

Haha, this wasn't quite the thread I was expecting, thank God. But I think this happens with all phones. I thought the Tilt was the coolest thing ever and now that I have had it for a couple months I'm kind of bored with it. I felt the same way about the iPhone and the Blackberries that I have had too though, so I don't think you can really specify that it is HTC devices. It is kind of the reason for innovation, people get bored with things faster and faster these days.

it's even worse for those who don't have pockets full of cash to fork over for lots of software for these devices.freebies help but not everyone enjoys trials and simply can't spend on numerous programs

Sometimes i flash a random rom to 'try it' then eventually flash back to the previous only to spend the day setting it up when im done after a few hours i find myself looking through the rom section again for something new and exciting *sigh*

Ahhhh, I find myself doing the same thing. Just trying to make the stupid little things work on different roms only to come back to one that I loved a month ago.

HTC should never have started using Qualcomm hardware.
Wonder if there's a contract between them and how long it'll last

Yes it is true! But if it wasn't for XDA, I wouldn't have known any better and would have stuck with the preinstalled apps, lived a dull life, not got to pick on iPhone users, gone through the NOOB hazing, Etc.

already own a 360, already have a wife, and i mess with the phone when i'm bored at work thank you very much

why not just look at stupid youtube videos all day. That's never boring.

youtube sucks,luckily that flashvideobundle shows other sites compatible. i personally like vtap,quicker searches and does more than searching youtube

cmon HTC, release the drivers as a birthday present for me LOL

It's human nature! We just get bored after some period of use; not just HTC but every gadgets or anything.

ahh,but do you actualy still enjoy using htc,or are all the little niggles getting to you ?
after 4 years still liked the way my old sony p910i felt,i.e button feel,scroll wheel/rocker etc... wonderful grapics,not bad sound
enjoyed old lucas games on p910i,monkey island,samNmax etc
not on kaiser...bluetooth sound ??and with no hope of video drivers,and pretty awful support from htc all round,kaiser will probably be first and last htc.. dull little phone,makes goodish modem for kids pc....
anybody with a briefcase full of spare cash,donations to my sony xperia begging fund will gratefuly accepted !!!
(yes i know it will be made by htc,but vw build bentleys )

How many years do I have to wait b4 I get my true "do it all" device?
I was reading about Sharp's new Willcom D4 UMPC today and thinking damn - it's kinda like my tilt - and an actuall real computer!
getting closer!!!
but I want it to make phone calls - not skype.....but driving cross country through the boonies traditional cell phone roaming cell phone service.
and I want 3g, gps, wifi and hell....a 5 megapixel decent looking camera/video.....and def @ least 8 full use hours (streaming video via wifi with the audio sent to my bluetooth headphones hours)
Also I'd like a nice cradle like the oqo for home/office use on traditional moniter/keyboard/mouse.
And of course it's gotta fit in my [email protected] least in the cargo pants pocket size
I know its gunna be a while....but how long u guys think?
5 years for my true do it all perfect device? I guess I'll have to wait - but Id quickly drop 2-3 grand on it today....if only it existed.
(does Microsoft want this device to exist today? is there a purpose for windows mobile when this device comes out? Is microsoft the reason for the "seperation" of the 2 OS's of the htc shift? why can't they communicate between each other fluently? why cant I make a traditional (non skype) phone call on the xp side of this device? - The everun seems to be able to do it though. - I know the technology is not quite yet here to get all these features in a pocketable device - but were soooooooo close it seems)
/dreaming of running cubase (music production software)/photoshop/etc. etc. @ work instead of just attempting to read engadget on a wannabe browser (my current fav is skyfire or opera.....but both leave me wanting more) on my pocketable (tilt) "do it all" device

Oh I So Hate Myself

Yesterday, my old computer crashed so I went shopping for a new computer. I don't know what I was thinking, but I came home with a iMac 24'' desktop.
So, say goodbye to my cooking days. This DOES NOT mean that I'll be getting an iphone..NEVER. I will wait until October for WP7(not soon enough).

Now why would you choose that? There are a lot of computers coming out with up-to-par technology. Hate to say it, but bad decision.

Ive never owned a mac but i have heard there not that bad tell me how you like it.

if you like it you can enjoy no matter what ppl tell

Yeah, so true

got imac and pc (need for different things) the pc does most things but i find the mac better for the following thing
making movies
making presentations
making music
pc is better for all the other stuff

I also like Macbooks...
Much better design than a windows machine !

Yes, precisely that is the reason why I decided on iMac.
so far I like it. I like it because I didn't have space for the mini/Tower and I didn't care much for HP touchsmart.

2) personilized to your needs

[game talk] Paradise Island

I've been playing Paradise island for about a week now.
I'm loving it.
So thought I would share some tips and hopefully get some back.
Currently I am level 12.
When starting the game best things to do.
build 40 roads ( or 400 if you are bored)
This gives you a free $1250 plus 40xp
leave the screen on for 3
This gives you $5000
Plant 5 flowers ( costs $1500)
gives you $3000 plus 200 XP
Move your first buildings 20 times
gives you £1500 and 50xp
This means you start the game with an extra $9250 and 290xp
Once you are high enough level get a business centre you get 1 of the special money every day save that up for expansions.
Odd achievements
Do 5 things in a moment.
I spent ages trying to collect money as fast as i could.
For this you need to pay the extra and do a instant build.
Secret achievements I have
Stop the hum/rumble ( cant remember the name it changes once you get it)
move to solar power only.
Hotdog fan
$4000 200xp
Build 15 hotdog stands
Atristocrat
Build 3 golf clubs at the same time
$75000 1250xp
We remember about the defender
Build two hold defenders simultaneously
$30000 and 1500xp
Hope people can add to this and it doesn't just get lost in the void.

Also hotdog stands are great at the start only give you $70 but you get one XP every 2 mins. So.have like 10 and you will level up much faster.

It moves the fence a little bit thats all once you buy all the expantions the fence goes. And by expantion 6 you get the helipad

To add to the "hidden message" in the OP:
If you use the system clock to advance the time, you will notice that if you advance it a week, you have to wait a week for the game to catch up to it before you can play normally again. However, there is a way around this.
All you have to do is put something in storage and place it back on the map. Once you do that, the clock resets on that building and you don't have to wait for the game to catch up to the date that you advanced it to. However, you would have to place every individual building in storage and back on the map in order to reset everything on the map. This can get annoying once you expand a few regions and you have a bunch of buildings, so keep that in mind.

I had a back-up done with Titanium Backup that allowed me to restore the previous version. Coincidentally enough, I had done a backup the day before the new version came out, so I was able to restore it hardly lose any progress I had made.
Yay me!

Started playing yesterday. You have to spend a lot of time at the beginning. I'm lvl8 now and just built the business center and the galaxy restaurant (improving atm). Now I want to get rid of all those "fast money makers" so I can check every hour to collect my money and thats it I moved tree's like an idiot lol, but I got the skillfull designer achievement. now I have to move another 1k facilities, LOL!
question about "the sun only"-achievement:
If I get rid of all my windmill's and build a solar power plant for 60k I'll get the achivement + 200k? seems very fair to me and what if I rebuild some windmills afterwards? will I lose 200k?^^

I googled a bit about "the sun only"-achievement. many complained about not getting the reward allthough they have a solar plant and no windmills. lets hope this is not happening to me, just started building a solar plant. when its done I'm gonna destroy the windmills, hope the achievement's gonna trigger

Accidently spent a piastre on improving a windmill =/ they should realy add a confirmation popup....I'm stuck at lvl 9 btw (87% to go...). I have 250k$ but dont know what I should invest in. I want to save my money for the disco club's (at lvl10) this looks realy nice!

So my wife had a Droid 1 which I have rooted and backed up with TB. No she has a Droid Charge and would like her island game moved to the new phone along with her progress. Seeing how I cant root her phone yet (ver. ed2) Is there a way to move the app over and bring the data with it?

My wife went from stock rooted to cm7 I dropped all the files back in place and it just doesn't load or game resets. So looks like it can't be done :-(

What to do with my ~15 Years old Laptop

Hi you guys! I just found my old Laptop to be still in working condition.
Pentium MMX, 166.0 MHz
80 MB RAM
800x600, 65536 Colors
TFT LCD
Any ideas on what to do with it? Right now it's running a pretty messed up version of my early LFS experiments...

I wouldn't worry about the troll, but I would worry about the kind of suggestions you're going to get for what to do with your laptop
Personally, I wouldn't even put that on eBay. It may be demoralising!

Yeah sure I got a lightweight distro on it. but it's still too weak to do anything lol. Selling is won't get me anything I guess either but I dont want to throw it away. and the only thing it can do is edit text and play music, both of which i dont need... hmm i dunno maybe im gonna take it apart for fun.

See if it blends........

Check if Crysis 2 runs on it. Lol

I don't think anything is usable in a 15 year old laptop. I would just destroy the hard drive and throw it out. Not a very green answer but that's all I can come up with at the moment.

Mod it. I've always wanted to take the shell of an old laptop and put my own hw in it. But have it look stock.

I'm very productive with my device. I produce myself of being more social with it

LOL I usually use Tasker so I can stop my phone distracting me

In these days you can do everything on your phone what u can do on a big computer except of the real games, if you do something on your pc what helps you you can do the same on your phone so why dont use it when you forgot something and you are already laying in front of the tv to do the work.

Phone works a treat when your in a lecture that's going downhill, and you cant pull out a 15in laptop. Feedly works a treat when you want to catch up on tech news/developments that you would otherwise be reading if weren't stuck in a lecture. #productivity
