I flashed some wrong files on to my SGS, the phone wouldn't boot up, and worst off all I couldn't deactivate the OCLagFix.
I now only have acces to the Download mode, please help me to fix this problem!
I would like to know if I could go ahead and flash a ROM without the update.zip method, because I don't have acces to the internal SD card.
Thanx in advance!
You need to flash a stock rom using odin, jp7 always gets me out of trouble

Do you have a link to JP7? It's what I'm running now but in case something goes wrong at least I can re-flash. Thank you so much!
I always download my roms from samfirmware, have a look on there.

So what exactly is wrong with your phone right now? is it up and running and you just want to get 2e installed?? or is your phone dead? anyways, easiest way to do it is grab a copy of Odin, then grab a copy of hardcore's speedmod kernel, open odin, put your phone into download mode, plug your phone in, make sure odin finds it, click the pda button, locate the speedmod kernel.tar file and click ok, then click start, it will be very fast and it will flash a new kerel on your phone.
ive been needing to flash 2e recovery too. is it ok to just flash the pda?

Download either hardcores kernel or chainfires cf root kernel flash using odin by putting kernel in pda.
sounds nice and simple. ill do the odin way. op, you can also try the sgs kernal flasher app found in this forum and never touch a computer
1. install sgs kernal flasher
2. flash a kernal which includes 2e
3. ????
4. profit!

right now i have a different problem. i have tried to instal darkys and it starts the instal then fails at line 96 any ideas on this at all? thanks for the help its really appreciated

Hi guys...
Recovered from a soft brick yesterday with one click Odin but now I can't seem to enter recovery anymore...
My firmware seems to be 2.1 update 1...
Do I need to update to gingerbread first? I haven't tried getting into download but what happens if I can't?
Tried about 20 times getting into recovery >_> Is it built into eclair?
Have you tried using ADB to enter recovery mode? Often the three button combo gets broken when flashing custom roms, or at least it has for me in the past
Sent from my AOKP icy-glitched Captivate via Tapatalk 2
Flashin the i897 Gingerbread Bootloaders will resolve the button combo issue.
(Be aware that there is always a risk when flashin bootloaders. Proceed with caution...and a reliable micro usb/usb cord and good connection, etc.)
!! Do not use the old "3 button fix" !!
U have been warned

Is adb included in sdk? That's on my mac so do I just connect the device to my mac and open terminal and type "adb reboot recovery"?
Should I try flashing the KK4 Gingerbread first? Or should I keep the 2.1 to get ROM Manager to easily install CWM?
All ur choice. It just depends on ur final destination.

Are the bootloaders the ones right at the bottom of this post?
Yep. I believe so. There is also a link within that OP post under the "Odin method..."
Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I777 using xda premium
Not at home now but...my phone boots normal. Do you think that if I can't get into recovery I can't get into download mode? How do I force that?
After flashing the bootloaders do I flash an update.zip to get root and then install clockwork mod again using Odin? I don't want to brick again, if somebody would be so kind to link me to a good cwm link and a rooted rom link I would so appreciate it! Is the speedmod kernel under the "Odin method" rooted?
The "Guide..." by TRusselo that is a Stickied Thread in this Forum is the best to follow if u r going to flash a Dev's Rom.

Hi people!
My phone is bricked and I found a backup of my efs (efs.rfs), but I can't flash because I only get crash in ODIN.
What can I do? What's wrong with ODIN?
Best Regards,
Cristian Silaghi
Have you done a nandroid backup? And also can you access to CWM? If yes try to erase everything.
And for odin do you used download mode? Try to unzip the stock rom and put it correctly in program then use download mode, connect your phone and let's start till it finish.
If everything don't work, go to S.A.V and say you don't know what happen'd to your if your warranty is safe.

No, I didn't done a nandroid backup.
It's just flickering when I boot up and when I access CWM.
Yes, I used download mode.
Do I need a special archiving mode for ODIN?
Go to cwm, wipe everything and then flash a new rom like dreamw or another rom. And then when flash is finish wipe everything again.

I can't access Recovery Mode/CWM. It's flickering the screen. What can I do it's just access Download Mode. There's a chance to make phone work if I flash my original stock firmware (but I can't find on the internet firmware stock from Orange Romania, Froyo version, that version which came with the phone).
Then flash a stock firmware this is the most simple for save your phone

I repeat: I can't find my original stock firmware from Orange Romania. Nobody leaked it...
I tried some "miraculous" firmwares which worked from some users, but I think that firmwares was the original ones which came with those phones.
Contact this user.
U are not clear, if ur phone is bricked nothing can be done.
Of course they are not 100% original firmwares but they work and that is all that is needed.
As u can access download mode just flash a GB stock firmware.

I installed "Galaxy Ace Unlock".
The screen is flickering when I start the phone and when I access CWM/Recovery Mode.
Only thing what works is Download Mode (without flickering).
ODIN just crashes (Galaxy Ace Unlock made a backup, but that backup cannot be flashed in ODIN, at least in my case) when I try to flash EFS.
Maybe ODIN doesn't support of flashing EFS backup in GT-S5570... Can anybody confirm that I'm wrong?
Galaxy ace unlock? Did i miss something? I tought you cant flash ace things on mini. However, i got the stock rom here: http://www.mediafire.com/?zx83r9p30zqxd6r

This is a tutorial i helped someone else with:
I think you already got the files, in case not download them again.
--WARNING-- Your phone must be charged to 90% or more, to prevent flash failure.
okay, put your phone in download mode. (power button, home button, and volume down button at same time) connect it to usb, and start odin.
Select ops file,
than select the boot file, named: APBOOT_S5570XXKPI_CL260130_REV02_user_low_true.tar.md5
Select Phone file: MODEM_S5570XXKPI_CL260130_REV02.tar.md5
The PDA file: CODE_S5570XXKPI_CL260130_REV02_user_low_true.tar.md5
and as last the CSC file: CSC_S5570SERKPI_CL260130_REV02_user_low_true.tar.md5
--MAKE SURE THIS IS RIGHT, AND ELSE YOUR PHONE CAN BE FATAL BRICKED!!!--
okay, all good?
right. click start.
wait till your phone reboots,
THEN, remove your usb cable.
and then the last part: Have fun!

Ps. Did you install kies drivers? If not no wounder why you bootloop.

/efs backup can help you only when your IMEI gets corrupted and you don't have gsm network. That means you can boot Android, but you will have problems with baseband.
You have another type of problem, right now efs can't help you, you must boot into system first.
domini99, tried already to do that. Without success
---
domcale, the app "Galaxy Ace Unlock" made a backup of /dev/block/stl5 (called "stl5.rfs") which I found on memory card.
If I can't boot up in system/CWM/Recovery and I can enter in Download Mode, what this means?
Can't enter recovery? Dunno why you can't, but if you can enter download mode, then you can flash stock rom using Odin
Took me almost two days to figure this out, cannot post in development forum, so here it is:
Problem:
"old rooting files" are not working with newer ICS stock rom, tried with all the here for Tab 8.9 existing guides.
Solution:
Took the root file from the (almost similar) Tab 10.1 for ICS from this post:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1807219 which has a link to this file:
http://www.shabbypenguin.com/users/...alaxytab10.1/Samsung_Galaxy_Tab_10.1_root.zip
Installed it with cwm recovery 5.5.0.8 (install zip file from sdcard)
and it finally worked on the 8.9 running 4.0.4 ics stock (UK/European Version)!
Combined with the a1 1.7.3 overclocking kernel, the tab now works like a charm
overclocked with app "voltage control" to 1400 Mhz.
edit: this is for model p7300/p7310 (tegra 2 versions) only
Thanks for your efforts.

Perhaps you should use another root tool. I used a busybox.zip-file.. Just flash it the same way; via CWM (install zip from sd-card)
The file is in the attachments
And if this doesn't work either, you might wanna update your CWM version first, before you flash the root tool. I have it attached as well. Updating CMW is done the same way as flashing a root tool, so: launch CMW 5 and install the CMW6.0.0.8.zip from sd-card.
Here you go!

No. Just the Samsung drivers which kies will install. Then forget about kies. It's a pos. And you don't flash odin. It resides on your PC. You flash with odin.

Are these for P7300 with 4.0.4?
is there anyone with p7310 tegra 2 successly rooted with method above? Please share information and step thx
You can try with Superoneclick2.3.3 - should work fine.
Or you can install CWM first with Odin: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1312218
And then copy root.original.zip over to
SD-card. Turn off device. Go into recovery mode with power on+volume down (don't choose download mode)
and flash root.original there.
are you sure superoneclick are proven to work? Because a failed root attempt using superoneclick usually make tablet slow and need to hard reset
Have no idea. If in doubt flash cwm with odin and then root.

Is this working ? Is there another way to root SGH i957 running ICS ?
Thank you
Hi guys, I am looking for some help with this. I have tried the superoneclick way and the program hangs and does not complete. I have also tried the other way, using the odin flashable CWM 5.5.0.4, but when I install it and boot into recovery, the option screen scrools so fast that I cannot see what I am selecting in order to load the root file.
Can anyone tell me if this is a known issue with this version of CWM? Does anyone know of another odin flashable version of CWM that I could try?
Thanks in advance!

Maybe it's odin. I've always used 1.85 but others have had luck with ver 3. Try to reflash cwm with 1.85. And make sure cwm is for the p7310. To root I've always flashed super su-busy box thru recovery.
