is this possible?
anyone to confirm?
Refer to post #6 of the following thread. Superoneclick is working on FRG83G.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=923755
yes..possible... i already root my device.. u must install busybox on market.. root working great.. use superoneclick 1.6.3
Yep
vigorito, yes, you certainly can root 2.2.2
I went manual, no superoneclick for me. That's just preference though.
where can i find one click root from
How about Google?
Sorry for another noob question... if I root with SuperOneClick, will my phone be wiped back to factory settings?

Ok, I want to get root access on my g1. I can simply follow this guide to get it, correct? http://androidandme.com/2009/08/news/how-to-root-a-t-mobile-g1-and-mytouch-3g-android-phone/
Once that is done I'll have to re-register my gmail account info stuff. I do not have the data plan so I will have to follow JF's guide correct?
Also, say I ever wanted to "Unroot" my phone, is this possible? And if something is wrong with my phone, and it is still under warrenty, I can reset it so they will never know it's been rooted correct? (It DOES void the warranty???)
Thanks for your time!
yes that guide will work. if you still have 1.5 i recommend doing the one-click method since if you install cyanogen's rom, then you can skip signing into google. if you want to unroot, then flash rc29 through bootloader and you will have stock.
Darn... I just updated to 1.6 a few days ago.. what do you suggest I do? 1 click won't work with donut?

then downgrade to rc29, then use JF's guide to register, then root via telnet commands, and the one click root was patched with the 1.6 update.

If there is there a guide to root JP3, can you point it to me???
Thanks
Now, this is weird, I'm quoting myself:
Darkstriker said:
1.What is root/rooting?
root is the user account in Linux with all privileges. The root user can edit anything on the system. For safety reasons, users do not have all those privileges. When you root your phone, you will gain write access to areas of the phone you couldn't previously access and are allowed to run more commands in the terminal. There is a tutorial for rooting in the Post #2 and a link to a OneClick Utility in Post #5.
If all of this means nothing to you then you are probably wise to NOT root your phone. Mistakes using root can break your phone very easily. (Usually, but not always, these can be solved with a reflash)
Note: At the time of writing, the Froyo firmware XXJP3 firmware has only been rooted with a complete firmware flash by MoDaCo.

I know what is rooting a device...
I use Linux at home.
I just can't find a guide specifically to JP3...
Some say that the JPC guide is good to root JP3 but i did want confirmation...
Cheers
I can't confirm that. It might be true but I guess the solution from MoDaCo is just so much simpler.
Search the forum. Theres a root for JP3. I think you need to flash with odin then apply update.zip and flash back.
Or you can try this rom, jp3 pre-rooted http://android.modaco.com/content/s...insecure-boot-clockworkmod-recovery-for-odin/
Here's the specific guide with downloads for JP3.
FF
Why would you want jp3 jpc is far better ....

Well i guess that for jpc i need some extra code after flashing and as i'm new to this i don't want to take any risks...
thanks anyway...
Well, i've used the pre rooted JP3 and looks like it's working fine...
Thank you all...
Tell me something else
The terminal emulator app is not working well... Spaces are not accepted and some letters don't appear in screen as i write them...
Is there anyne else that works good???
Thank you

official update through Kies (program from samsung).
As for root, use superoneclick (SuperUser).
And I believe there's a market app that will give you the code for the unlock (can't remember what it's called).

Hey now, I replied 1st haha
Although, thx for the app name
SIM unlock it first with SUPERONECLICK...save yourself the hassle afterwards
Please take the time to do a search before posting as this could have easily been answered by doing so.

So the way to go would be,
1.Update to (official) 2.2 using kies
2.Then Use the SuperOneClick v1.9.1 http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=803682 to ROOT the device
3.And finally find an app to perform the sim-unlock
Have I got it right ?
Thanks for all your comments, I should have searched a bit more before posting,, I appreciate all your replies

Indeed, that is right.
The whole process takes 10min tops
You can do the sim unlock at any point (as long as your rooted). Once you do it it's unlocked.
I did mine just to show off to my tmobile friend that I could use his sim. I've flashed a lot since then, on gingerbread right now actually, still unlocked.
Thank you BWolf56 ,studacris n Pirateghost for the support, I feel confident to go ahead with that method
Hi again, My captivate has:
Baseband Version - I897UCJH7
Build Number - ECLAIR.UCJH7
I am looking at http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=761751
If I follow as I stated above and first Update to 2.2 (official), Next Root it with Supr1Clik, and then Try to Unlock it (like in link above) could it give me any errors (at the unlock stage)?
I read that 2.2 limits certain unlock methods(like it changes certain directories), I'd like to know if this could affect me in the process? You know like screw me up at the last moment hehe
I tried https://market.android.com/details?id=com.clarkehackworth.SamsungGalaxySUnlock made by DaGentooBoy but it didn't work, it said no codes.
And now I am looking at Samsung Galaxy S Unlock Froyo https://market.android.com/details?id=com.clarkehackworth.SamsungGalaxySUnlockFroyo by DaGentooBoy
BTW I have not yet rooted or updated to official 2.2, still running 2.1 ECLAIR.UCJH7
Kindly refer to my previous post and help me find a solution. ty

SGS unlock (your 2nd option) works great.
you are wasting your time going through all those steps
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=803682
while still on JH7, use SUPERONECLICK to both, root, and unlock
do NOT update to 2.2 before you unlock it

Yes, you can unlock it with superoneclick as well.
I really didn't know I could network unlock it with SuperOneClick,
But Even if it could perform the unlock I don't actually know how to, I don't see it mentioned in the page http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=803682

You need to root 1st.
I stand corrected, thanks Pirate
I should give my ob to service but I don't know how to remove this root from phone? May someone tell me please?
i think u should remove superuser and gingerbreak
If you used Gingerbreak to root, just run it again and choose "unroot".
If you used SuperOneClick or BlackJack the best solution is to flash firmware via KDZU or emergency restore in LG Updater App. Hard Reset will not remove root, only flash.
Tested it yesterday.

Hi, I`m with my first Android and tried to root it using this tutorial (i'm with stock rom):
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1327599
Everything seemed to work fine, but it never asked me for root permission and each program that needs it, tells me that I have no root access.

Yeah. Stock V20l. I've got all the right messages, done everything as it saids. But when no program gives me root access.
I forgot to say... I bought this from someone who said that had already rooted it, but I couldn't get root access so I tried this tutorial.

Do you have the ROM Manager installed? if yes...switch on wifi and select the clockworkmod choosing the LG Optimus2X and wait for it to be flashed.
Do you get that the apps dont have root access?
---------- Post added at 10:54 PM ---------- Previous post was at 10:47 PM ----------
just have a look at this thread....has some information about rooting....
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1458879
hope it helps you
ROM manager says that I cannot select clockworkmod cause I haven't got root permission
I've tried the tutorial to get root access a dozen times. In all of them things seems ok, but when I open apps that need root access, they tell me I don't have it.

Personally i think that there is some problem....try rebooting both your computer and the O2X and then restart the rooting process....before that read the thread a bit carefully...might be you are missing something...the rooting process normally works good...
I tried this one and think it worked.

Thanks for the help
More problems...
Root Check Basic says it's rooted;
Busybox installer also says it's rooted. It installs but if I open it again it says Busybox isn't installed.
Titanium Backup says it isn't rooted. FasterFix also.
Is there anyway to go back to zero and do it all again?
Update superuser. Reboot then try again..
Download rom manager flash the recovery.
Sent from my Optimus 2X using Tapatalk
try to get back to stock and re-do things....
