hi everyone. i am fully aware that there is a fb app that comes with this phone. but in my opinion, it sucks. when i click a notification, it goes into browser. uh. thanks. if i wanted to use the browser, why am i on this app?! (sorry just ranting)
anyway i was wondering if anyone is using a better fb app? maybe one that is not facebook touch (i dl that one and it is so so too)
thanks!
Http://touch.facebook.com works well.
While on the subject of facebook apps, why does this phone have 2? It has Facebook and Facebook for Sense.
I love the facebook integration on the galaxy s,
but i think it's a shame that the media linked to a contact opens up in the browers version of facebook instead of the app. Is there any way of linking this to the facebook app?
Just read on the BBC web page that when you update to gingerbread thats already on the nexus s you will lose the option to have Facebook contacts in your phonebook. Will this be Facebook android app and Facebook for HTC sence? this will be very bad.

This is just on 2.3.3 which is specific to Google devices (N1/NS) so I'm guessing that most updates will be built around 2.3.2 which doesn't remove the sync options. Tbh this part of an ongoing battle between Google and Facebook which stems from Google wanting to force Facebook to use the Android contacts API and thus allowing the use of your Facebook contact info for other apps and purposes. It is possible that Facebook will adhere to the Google API but it creates a whole load of other issues that suggest it won't be a simple procedure.
Regards.
I want to add my messenger contacts to my contact on the phone so i can join them with the other ones, from facebook, skype, twitter and google
now, i know the SGSII has the social hub which brings a sync manager for WLM BUT... it breaks the connection with FB and Twitter and also causes random SNS FC's in JVP, so my question is, is there any app out there that will add this as Skype adds it's own?
thanks for any help with this.
I honestly made the best decision ever of removing the Facebook app from my phone, with it installed, my phone would drain 20% of battery overnight even with greenify. With it removed, I lost only 5% battery, couldn't be happier.
However, with that said, I use the alternative client Swipe, I really like it for normal browsing, but not the Messenger feature. I still have the FB Messenger app due to its calling, emoji, sticker, etc features, but man is it a resource hog. According to the wake lock detector, it woke my device 58 times.
Do any of you know of any other client alternative to the current messenger app with a better theme than the one in Swipe with the same features as current FB Messenger app. Not too fond of Swipe's messenger as it just loads the mobile site version, its features are limited.
If not, do any of you know how to restrict the app properly to not wake my device so often? Greenify seems to have no effect
Trillian will work with your facebook account. Last time I used it, which was about a year ago, the interface wasn't the best to look at but got the job done. It handles other messaging protocols such as Skype, but doesn't work with Whatsapp (naturally).
I was gonna suggest a all in one like trillian and someone on these boards made a facebook messenger and twitter all in one app tho i forget the name. I never go on facebook but I leave it installed but it never takes like any battery, tho I turned off all notifications and turned off chat in the main app and turned off auto load video etc. No issues tho but not many options for third party messenger apps but search forums for the all in one i mentioned.
Possibly IM+? I used this way back in the day with earlier versions of Android, might do the trick! https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=de.shapeservices.impluslite
If I remember correctly you can also use Disa with the facebook plugin. that way you have SMS and facebook in the same app
