I am running Phoenix v4.05 rom using Cosmic76 v5 theme I installed a new keyboard per the instructions attached. I followed through restarted it worked great. I had to sut down the phone a while later. When I restarted it I saw the screen attached. Now the keyboard does not show in local and TEXT.
Any help would be great
Those instructions are for a droid x....not a captivate...Which phone do you have?
Undo whatever you did to install that keyboard.
Then take the one attached at the bottom of this post, put it on your phone, and tap to install it like any other app.

No, dont use the instructions from the Word file. Put the apk on your phone, on your sdcard somewhere, then navigate to it, and tap to install it.
Ok, yea I tried. Thats a standard android keyboard!

The one you gave me,
Attached is a screenshot of the one I was using. Keep in mind... It was working! I don;t recall what I did to make it work. It was working for a couple weeks, until I had to re-flash. Also attached is a pic of the look of the kb.

Hey guys, I have yet to buy a VS GTablet yet, although I'm thinking about picking one up soon. I'm not a developer by any means, but I was wondering has anyone tried to install or port the Galaxy Tab's email app to the GTablet? I noticed in a YouTube video about TnT Lite 2.0 on the GTablet that the Gmail app was working nicely but I really love the Tab's email client with the landscape view.
This was just a thought, if anyone can try to get it working. Here's where I saw the apk:

Thanks!
There have been attempts, but nothing has worked (yet). Seems to be integrated into their framework.

I got the APK to work without FC's on TnT Lite 2.00, but I didn't wipe data/cache, so it never quite got to work right. I think that if I were to wipe everything, it just might work. It sure was pretty on the big screen of the GTab!
How did you load the apk?

Am I correct in assuming that the odex and the emial.apk both go in system\app?
If so, Im trying it now and will keep you posted.
It looks like if we push the .odex and .apk to /system/app it may work.

ahhh.. I can help (maybe). I found an app in the market call ADBwireless (widget). If your pc and tab are on the same wifi you can use it to run adb commands across it. I do it now but I don't have my laptop with me.
I've used it trying to get swype to work (which I cant yet) and its pretty nice. for some reason I cant get my ADB drivers to stay in win7 64, they did at first but it became a regular pain in the a... so I found this
You load the widget, run it, it shows the ip address of the tab with a :5555. then adb connect xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx:5555 (whatever the ip is) and it should connect. More times than not I have to adb remount then its good to go.
Has anyone ever made any progress with this?
This may or may not be an easy question to answer but I am looking for the default black keyboard that is used in the Axura and I think Perception ROMs. I flashed both of those this week but am now back on Cog and I'd like to give that keyboard a shot and see if it will even work. It was a semi-transparent black keyboard I believe that had blue pop-up letters when pressed. Could I be anymore vague?
I'd just rather not flash back to those if I don't have to.
Thanks for the help!
Did you try to unzip the roms and pull the keyboard out of them? I dont know if it would also be part of the framework but its worth a shot.
This is my captivate. There are many like it but this one is mine.
I think it's MultiTouch Keyboard but idk where to find it for you sorry.
It's this one.

That does seem to look like the one. For whatever reason I can't get it installed on Cog 2.3B6. I'm guessing because it's not an i9000 based ROM like Axura?
I did try extracting the other ROMS and looking in system/app and the only ones I see in there are AxT9IME.apk, LatinIME.apk, and Keyboard-HTC.apk. I already have the HTC_IME MOD keyboard installed and when I tried installing the Keyboard-HTC.apk, it installed as the same HTC_IME keyboard with white keys. I also tried the Droid Multitouch keyboard which is close but still not what I'm looking for.
Strange.
You need to uninstall the LatinIME.apk (stock android) keyboard. This one needs to replace it. Can't have both at the same time for some reason. Here is the original thread.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=754948
I tried to install it from the link above and had some issues. I got it fixed and here is how. (Granted I am on Perc.7 though). First I tried jist to copy the .apk provided for the multitouch but got force closes even after a reboot. I did rename the latiname.apk to latiname.apk.old and rebooted. Next I installed the samsung keyboard apk and lib file since I had issues with the force closes. This way I had a working keyboard. Next I used root explorer to again move the wjdblue apk and rebooted. Came back up and this time it showed both the samsung and multitouch keybaords so i thought I was good. Then I selected the multitouch keyboard bit started getting foce closes again. I then switched back to the samsung keyboard. I then went back into the extra lcted.folder from the link above, went into the lib folder, copied the libjmi_latinime.apk and moved it to/ system/lib and pasted, said yes to overwrite the current file, rebooted and wahhlllaaa I am using it right now. So it must need/know the exact lib file to match it. Hope this helps. If you need both the apk and lib file shoot me a pm and I will upload them to dropbox for you. Or just use root explorer and extract the zip file previous poster posted and grab them.
Cog'd Perception or Cog'd 2.3b6 depending on my need for flash addiction

You can now install with cwm. I fixed it sorry guys . The updated zip file is on the first page I replaced a good one with the bad one.
I have tested this with DHD builds only but I'm sure it works with any build as long as you have adb intsalled.
1st. Download and unzip the attached file
2nd. Add the Framework-res.apk of your choice to the extracted folder
3rd. Plug your phone into your computer with USB debug on and Charge only selected.
4th. Click Change framework in the folder that you extracted and added the framework to.
This will cause your phone to reboot. Now you will have to re-enter your Google and HTC accounts.

Hey this worked perfectly. But I just flashed to a different ROM too. On the other build I was using I issued the same adb commands in the prompt and definately got completely different results. Thanks for this tool.
Edit:
Your tool works about half of the time, but its not its fault. adb works for me only about half the time. But for some reason now I get millions of FCs after I replace framework-res.apk.

will these wipe out everything on my phone so need to back it all up right?
do i use safestrap to install this? and if so what is the link and directions for
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1806145 he doesnt say how to install it or what to use to install it.
and is it as smooth and everything works just with out all the unnecessary crap from verizon on there
I'm not currently running either of these, but I did use this one (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1806145&highlight=deodexed) for a few weeks without any problems. Then I tried to switch to Eclipse and messed up, so I had to fastboot back to original stock. Haven't found a rom that I'm really excited to try so I'm sticking with stock (rooted, of course). My next attempt will probably be the JB build that hashcode is working on. Once It becomes more stable, anyways.
Yes, Use Safestrap to install, it will also allow you to back up your current system. It's pretty easy to do, just follow the directions on the post when you download the rom.
Worst case scenario, you'll have to do what I did and fastboot back to stock, but most of the time the phone will be recoverable, so have fun!

I had the same problem. Is the phone currently rooted? If not, safestrap needs root. There is a walkthrough to show you how. In my case the issue was that busybox didn't install correctly. I got JRumy's Busybox Installer from the play store and used it. Worked like a charm.

Hey everyone. Just decided to post this for anyone using the wonderful RaptorRom by LarryBoyG that would like AOSP lock screen for whatever reason.
Get a root enabled file manager such as ES File Manager
Go into system/priv-app
Rename HTClockscreen.apk to HTClockscreen.apk.bac
Rename HTClockscreen.odex to HTClockscreen.odex.bac
Reboot system
There you go aosp lock screen

NO, no change the other day.
Im going to try what you suggest. After remnaming files, reboot then connect to computer, run commands laid out in the article and Bam I hope.
Now earlier, the setup wizard started but I got a "google servers failed, blah blah notice" I tried several times again after and never could get the setup wizard to start again. I know Im close, I can feel it.
So after the wizard runs, then what......reboot or should the lockscreen just change. and how do I go about adding the widgets to the lockscreen or are they just on by default?
Appreciate you sticking with me buddy, either way it turns out.:good::good::good:
