So, im thinking of getting an android tablet. I need it within the next week or really close.
If i do get one, will it sync with my captivate? can i use 1 data plan instead of two? What things would it sync?
Also, which one do you recommend?
Thanks
my suggestion is to wait for a while, 4 new tablets will come out soon:
moto xoom
lg g-slate
samsung galaxy tab 10.1
htc flyer
I would recommend the Motorola xoom.
I'm pretty sure you'll get all your apps if you use the same Gmail. And also the contacts if you saved them to Gmail.

Its too late to get the ipad, and the ipad 2 is too far away :S.
I really wanted it though
I am using a Viewsonic G Tablet 10.1" with the custom ROM TnT Lite 4.2.3 it does sync with Google mail, calendar, and contacts. $379.00 at Office Depot.
Touchpad looks awesome. WebOS is amazing. If there was a webOS device on the market with decent hardware I'd buy it. Pre3 looks good.

Another vote for the Viewsonic G Tablet here.
The hardware is honeycomb-ready, the price is right, and there are plenty of custom roms being baked right here at xda-developers.
Do you know if the viewsonic will get the honeycomb update? And if it does, will it be soon? I hate it when samsung takes too long to throw out an update
I think you should try out something other than android like
Ipad 2 or touchpad.
But you'll have to wait until summer..
I would not recommend the galaxy's 10.1.
I think xoom had a micro SD option, etc to make it better than galaxy 10.1.
and I really don't care about 3D so I wouldn't recommend the g slate.

another one needs to mension --- blackberry playbook.
Personally I'd stick with android and wait for the newest galaxy s tab to come out. With Bluetooth file transfer you can easily connect and transfer from each one with a few screen touches.
+1 for the VS G-tab. Great device for the money.
Motorola Xoom looked promising, until they released the price $799.00 and the fact that you HAVE to purchase a 3g plan in order for them to unlock the wifi?!?! No thanks.

I have someone who wants to trade me my 16g wifi jailbroken ipad1 for his Galaxy Tab. I already have a rooted Nook Color running CM7 overclocked at 1300 and I have an Evo 4g also CM7. This is my first post on Galaxy Tab section so I'm not to familiar with the mods and Roms. Should I trade my ipad for the galaxy or do I pretty much have what I need with the Nook? I don't use my ipad for anything but Netflix. ITunes makes me mental and I respect apple products but I'm an android Guy. My wife gave me the ipad for my birthday 6 months ago and just want Galaxy Tab owners to give me a little direction. I have GPS and a camera and a phone for that matter with my Evo 4g so my Nook is fine without those BUT...... I've wanted a GT since the day it came out. Thanks guys. As an iPad and SGT owner I find the Tab a much more useful device due to the portability. I carry it around with me everywhere. A larger tablet is great if you're not mobile, though I'd probably choose a Honeycomb tablet over an iPad these days as I prefer the less restrictive Android ecosystem. If you're not likely to use it when travelling or in the car and don't need GPS or telephony then I'd probably stick with the iPad.
Yeah that's what they were telling me over in the Nook forums. I just cant stand apple and love android but if I'm going to have two 7" tablets that are basically the same thing I guess I'll pass. That GT looks sweet though.

you must be crazy, the gtab is pawning all tegra 2 tablets so hard when it comes to playing hd movies its not even funny anymore, it came to a point where I wish I was able to scream and shout (with vulgarities included) at the dicko from Nvidia who came up with that incredibly stupid processor.
for myself , i bought the galaxy tab 10.1 3g , and i still have my gtab use it as a phone xD
I just bought one after lots of research into 7" tabs. I think it's the best 3G tab on the market still. What other 7" tabs can compare to it?

I don't see what difference development makes, if it fills your needs for a tablet, why sell it? If it doesn't fill your needs for a tablet, why wouldn't you? Mine still fills it's role just fine and it still fits in my pocket...a leading reason why I still have it and my iPad was stolen.
I just bought mine (seven days ago) because still it's one of the best tablets..for me at least..
I needed tablet which will suport ALL video formats and this little guy is doing that perfectly..
Only time whan I will consider replacing it, is when 7.7" comes out.. (but I think that price will be ridiculous, so..) because of SAMOLED and as far as I can see i don't have that retarded Tegra crap..
PS.
Only thing I would like to know is - Can we expect Ice Cream for our P1000?
If the galaxy tab had a keyboard dock like the transformer, I'd keep it for a long time

As I recall from somewhere I read, Samsung / Google guarantee that android device would get at least 2 OS updates
since we didnt get honeycomb, i think even Samsung will give ICS for us 7 tab owner
especially if the other smartphone that starts with froyo with roughly same specs can get ICS maybe, why wouldn't we?

I keep asking myself if I really need one and I am trying to find a use/excuse for one... nonetheless I ll still buy one if only to root and install ad-blocker so that I can play Angry Bird Ad Free!!!.
Buy the Nexus 7 to run the Eliza Android app. (google it)
It will help analyze why you have this abnormal fixation with shiny new gadgets.
Good luck on finding a cure!
Well to me if you did not like or did not have a use for the Galaxy Tab 7 the Nexus 7 will be the same aside from the better processor.
But only time will tell really as we cant really tell you what YOU will like
what makes you turn away from the tablets your buy? Is it that your phone is so much easier to use or is it that bezel :silly:
If you have the disposable income and it's not hurting anything then why worry about it? I've had the iPad 1, iPad 2, Nook Color, Nook Tablet, Nook Touch, Galaxy Tab 7+, and the Galaxy Tab 8.9. I end up either reselling them or giving them away when I'm done with them, and I pre-ordered the Nexus 7 without any hesitation.

I've got a 32GB iPad 2 and I'm considering selling it and buying a Nexus 7. By the time I've bought the N7 and paid shipping, I wouldn't have much cash left from what my iPad sold for.
But ... that shiny, shiny new toy!

If you do not mind relying on cloud storage, or mainly stream media, read books and browse the Web, the N7 is solid. I will stick with the View 32gb with a 64gb card, since still a nice tab.
I have the TF300 too, so less compelled. Must admit I would have bought one though if had micro sd.

$200 for a wifi tab with only 8gb.I can justify the no camera, the no LTE or even
HSPA+, the 7" form factor, and the no super ips I really want one. But the no SD is a deal breaker and seriously, **** Tegra. I want a quad core krait or even an exynos. And Google's developer device gunning for the kindle fire is a quiet acknowledgment that iPad owns the 10" segment.
I have a 15 " MacBook pro (for school) my old laptop running Windows 8 just for fun, then I have a Asus transformer tf101 with dock for portable productivity, Samsung Galaxy Tab 2 7" , and Samsung Galaxy s II . I will probably sell the 7"Samsung since its only dual core and has the 10" tablet UI which really is not great on a smaller tablet. So I am really excited about the "hybrid UI" as Google called on the nexus 7.
Sent from my GT-P3113 using XDA Premium HD app
What the OS needs is a TON of installed user base, so that developers get rewarded for the time, in a way close to the iOS. Selling a lot of quad core systems for $199 will hopefully show numbers of installed base that wake some people up. If it sells as well as it should, your going to want a Tegra3 device at that resolution because that is what everything will target.
For example, I saw a post that one of the game dev's who have ignored TFP compatibility is now saying they will be developing for the N7.
I expect my TFP 201 to benefit somewhat from the sales numbers this should do, given the hardware is basically the same. Also given ASUS made the thing, I would imagine getting JB faster than most on the prime will be a near sure thing.

Not sure if I have buyer's remorse, but the Nexus 7 seems a little redundant to have if I already own a Galaxy Nexus. Considering the screen size is only 2" bigger, not really sure how much I'm gaining.
I already have a Touchpad, so that only adds to the redundancy...
I would have said you are truly blessed...
The Nexus for tethering, and the Nexus 7 for a far better reading / movie experience, not to mention web browsing.
When you get your tablet, come back and let us know how you like the pair.
I've already got a Galaxy Nexus, a Transformer Prime, and a Nook Color. Talk about redundancy, lol.
I wasn't planning on getting the Nexus 7, but the Nook Color just isn't doing it for me as a carputer anymore, so I'm giving it the boot in favor of the 7. Should be fun.

Me too. Should be good. Haha. I'd be even more happy if it was a 10" tab.
I'm pretty excited about both devices having NFC. I'm planning on setting up my GNex & N7 so that I just get in my car and bump them together to get everything ready to go:
- Enable hotspot on the phone
- Turn on WiFi on the tablet
- Turn on bluetooth on the tablet (for connection to car stereo, torque, etc)
- Launch Torque on the tablet
- etc.
There are probably apps that could do all this, but I think I might build something small and lightweight myself just to play around with NFC.

hey guys, need a little advice here.
I spontaneously bought the Tab 2 7.0 for Black Friday, but I've been looking at the Nexus 7 for a while now. What should I choose?
I like the touchwiz features but the cleanness of stock android. I use my tablet for: music, facebook, instagram, games, memos, reading, watching netflix. Is it worth the extra $40? (Tab was $160 for me)
Thanks

Yes yes yes yes. The extra $40 is well worth the cost of N7, & the speed/upgradability is much better on the N7.
get the nexus unless you MUST HAVE tv out.. for 13.00 you can get hdmi dock for gtab...the g tab also has the ir remote dual cameras and sd card slot. thou no ap/to sd .
Ours has 8 gb its slower then nexus but runs ok... My spouse Bonnie Loves the Ir blaster remote .But i hear it only works with some cable companies .Ours its great..
The nexus is twice as fast 16 or 32 gb storage (32 gb is what mine is). Its well worth the extra money ...
you decide...
I love the touch wiz stuff but I have the SGS3 so I get my fix there so I opted for the nexus. I will say this the WiFi tab2 is getting Jellybean right now so if you like the tab that will def be a nice addition. Also weigh the no SD/SD card situation to me for what I use my tablet for its not important as I use alot of cloud. To other's it could be important.

If you were only going tu use it for media consumption I'd say stick with the GTab but since you also want to do gaming I'd recommend you spend the extra $40 and get pretty much the top of the line (at 7 inches). Actually if possible you should spend $90 and get a 32gig because graphic intensive games will kick the **** out of your 16gig really fast.

I too was considering N7 and Tab 2 7.0. I was looking for a used one on CL. I actually wanted the Tab 2 more than the N7 due to the expandable memory and lower cost. However, long story short, I got the N7 and have no regret because I don't miss what I never had (what I never had being the Tab 2). I'm sure I'll work something out to overcome the lack of expandable memory.

Also, you're gonna get a lot of biased answers here because you're asking the question in the N7 forum.
I think they are both brilliant devices for the money. I had the original galaxy tab when it first came out and loved it. I really do think Samsung make some top quality hardware. I have a nexus 7 now and I do love stock android, I also went for the 32gb model for £199 so that will more than accommodate my storage needs.
I have a galaxy s3 for my Samsung fix so that's why I ended up choosing the nexus 7.
I'd stick with what you have for now mate and get your moneys worth. Something new is bound to emerge after Christmas and then you will probably puck a nexus 7 up for peanuts.

The Nexus 7 is sure to get multiple updates straight from Google as soon as they come out.
If you keep the tab 2 7.0, you are probably going to have to root it and put aokp 5 on it. Stock is a little slow. And someone stated that the tab 2 7.0 had TV out, I don't believe that it does. I have had it since launch day.

Its a ok tablet for most things you would want such as surfing the web and simple games and social networking.
