if you are using theme kitchens pngs just make them and extract them from the theme kitchen frameworks with 7zip...then paste them over the existing ones in the theme you want to use (again with 7zip) in the framework-res.apk drawable-hdpi (or hdpi 4 folder depending on the theme) and the pulldown icons are a bit trickier as you will have to rename them if you get them from theme kitchen and move them into twframework-res.apk

So if I already have cm6.1.1 installed, can I just install the Gingerbreadxml.rar and framework-res.apk for the theme to work? Or do I have to reinstall cm6.1.1 with GM theme built in? Thanks
You could, but I would just flash the rom zip over what you have as it has a few extras like the gingerbread browser and phone apk.
Nice find, brswatt. Finally a full theme that doesn't break my tethering. Updating my thread to point to this one.

You could, but you wouldn't have the gingerbread dialer.
So just flash the whole thing. It doesn't hurt.
Then just put the xml on your card.
Here is a LiveWallpapers.apk to adb push or include in that rom before you flash. I replaced the cyanogenmod wallpaper with the nexus s wallpaper.

Does the nexus s live wallpaper work on the Aria? I tried many times before, but it didn't work.
Thanks this eases my gingerbread crave a little

This isn't the actual nexus s wallpaper....it is our livewallpapers.apk with that background in so it is identical.

Well, when the flashable zip thread pops up in the themes forum, you can link it there, or I'll link it in the first post.
edit: I posted it here
wow, many thanks. Im going to try out right now
I put the gingerbread.xml in the cmparts.apk, so we don't need to save it to sdcard/cmtheme.
About the flashable, by the time you run the cleanup.sh, /system might be not mounted. Nevermind, files will be overwritten anyway. But I still think files delete and set-perm should be done within update-script.
EDIT: File updated. Sorry I didn't know it only loads internal theme files that contain the word "STOCK".
Nice theme, but is there a way to get the old notification pull down back? I like the dark themed pulldown better.
Edit: Nevermind...the CMTheme changed it.http://media.xda-developers.com/images/icons/icon6.gif
brswattt, I fixed the framework-res power notification dropdown icons to all black:

Just made it a flash able zip and fix some browser issues.

It's not hard to do it yourself. ... just unzipped the battery from the theme and copy it into the framework -res. Apk of the theme you want it for in the drawable -hdpi folder
What theme do you want to add it to?

there tend to be to drawable-hdpi folders in our themes that use 5 lock mod...icons *should* go in drawable-hdpi-4
i wanted to add it to SC2.9.1. going to try the instructions that were given
so basically when you want to add something you can just copy/paste it into the proper area of the theme and it should work?

yes and no....different phones use different names for images...you would have to open up the folder and compare (even amongst the sgs variants with status bar icons data/signal)
for system apks theres no need to sign anything...for market/data apps you would have to sign the apk for the changes to take
and then theres xml.....but thats another story

[Request] CM 7 Theme Chooser "MattedBlues"

Hi,
can someone port over the theme MattedBlues for the CM 7 Theme chooser ?
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=768848
+1
I love this theme and wish this for my Desire
+1 on that one!
+1 I would love this as well I used to use it but ever since CM7 came out with the theme chooser I dont really flash anymore.
But we need to make sure the Dev is okay with it.
Hey everyone,
As one of the devs for MattedBlues I can tell you I'm working on it but I'm not very happy that the Theme Chooser can't theme everything a flashable zip can. What's probably going to end up happening is one of two things:
1: MB gets ported to the Theme Chooser and is missing some things
or
2: MB gets ported to the Theme Chooser and a MetaMorph will be supplied to theme what the Theme Chooser can't theme.
Until then, stay tuned.

Nice, can't wait!
Also, if you guys want to you can fairly easily port the theme to your phones. Basically you just merge the files in SystemUI.apk and framework-res.apk with the files from the original CM7 ROM and you are golden!
I don't know if you are allowed to do that, but I can't seem to figure out why you wouldn't be. As long as you don't redistribute it.

Thanks for the tip! What exactly do you mean by merge? Do I just delete the to apk's from the theme zip and replace them with the ones from the CM7 zip? Or do I need some program to actually merge them?

You open the .apk from the theme (using something like WinRAR) and then you open the .apk from the ROM and simply drag the files from the themed .apk over to the ROM's .apk. Then you put the ROM's .apk (the one that you now have merged with the themed .apk) where the themed .apk was. Then simply flash the .zip.
Hope you understand, got kind of messy. If you do not, I can make it for you!

Do I have to edit framework too?
I´m a bloody beginner so I dont know exactly what I should do
I would like to see this theme running on CM7 for Milestone - here is the link http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=941346
Maybe you can help me a little bit
I tried decompiling the standard t-mobile sample theme apk, and copying the res folder and Manifest.xml then re-compiling and signing, but it wont compile.. can someone help me out?

Need a bit of help theming.

I'm looking to learn to theme. I've read all of the stickied posts at the top here, and have a basic understanding. What I really want to do is modify this theme to have these statusbar icons and this statusbar.
I decompiled the ICS theme using APK Manager. When I open the ICS theme, I go in and find "Statusbar_backgroung.png". Then I copy the statusbar from the labeled iphone theme (I resized it to 320x25px) and save it as the same, so I have replaced one with the other. However, there are like 3 or 4 statusbar.png's in the ICS theme, some are .9.png's. Also, the one that is just called "statusbar_background.png" in the original ICS theme is just a small block, and I am replacing it with one that is 320x25.
That is all I'm trying to do for now, just modify the statusbar of that theme. Once I get that working, I'll try the icons. My problem is it won't compile using APK manager once I've changed the statusbar. It starts, but then I get an error.
Did any of that make any sense? I must be tired...
I'm on Windows, and I've been trying to do this for ages.
Any help would be GREATLY appreciated, this is killing me!

Thanks! Any help is appreciated!

[4.4]Lockscreen Handle Flashable Theming Template

Just wanted to share my Lockscreen Handle theme flashable zip template (using the VRTheme method) that is compatible with 4.4 KitKat ROMs.
The purpose of this zip is to use as a base for updating your favorite lockscreen handle themes from previous Android versions (they are available throughout these forums) to be compatible with your 4.4 ROMs.
For the sake of time, I won't list out detailed instructions on how to use this template to update the old themes, but I'm definitely willing to just update them for you if you want to post a link to it (time-willing, of course).
General Usage Instructions
* Download the zip file: Lockscreen Handle Flashable Zip Template
* Unzip it, as well as your favorite lockscreen theme from an older Android version
* Within the vrtheme/system/framework/framework-res and vrtheme/system/priv-app/Keyguard folders, overwrite the respective pngs with the pngs from your old theme zip. NOTE: In your old zip, all of these pngs will be in the framework-res folder...so you'll need to note the png names in each of the sub-directories within the vrtheme folder of the 4.4 template and copy the old version pngs to every folder in the new template that they appear.
* Re-zip the template
* Flash with TWRP/CWM
* Reboot
* Enjoy your new lockscreen!

I think in KK the wallpaper can only be set in Display settings...which means it's probably somewhere in the frameworks/base source code......which means that there's no way to do it using Vrtheme.

Not through Vrtheme...you'd have to decompile either Keyguard.apk or framework-res.apk and modify the styles.xml and/or the colors.xml in the values/ folder.
