Playing the Crysis 2 demo the other day, I kinda fell in love with the new EA animation when it starts up...
So i made it into a bootanimation! I intended to use this for me but thought someone else may like it..
Flash through recovery, currently only works with bootanimations stored in system/media but if you extract it you can push it to the desired directory...

Any one who knows how to create a bootanimation, can you help me out? Please.
I'm no good at this stuff. But I had an idea for a boot animation for the Vegan ROM.
I wanted a bootanimation that had the 3rd evil ex from Scott Pilgrim? You know, Todd Ingram (the Vegan).
I found a couple of animated Gifs and as I understand it we can also use youtube vids. Can anyone make me one?
Thanks in advance
I made this one at Gifsoup. It's not the greatest but that last second where his hair is glowing looks cool or even the part where he's lifting up scott pilgrim.
GIFSoup
Open up a boot animation zip file and look what's in there. Nothing more than a .PNG file for each frame of the movie. The description file shows the frame size of the movie and the frame rate in fps. The folder part0 is for non-repeating animations and the part1 is for the repeating part of the animation.
Here is a good link to help you out.

I put the bootanimation.zip into /data/local and reboot!
Worked for me. This is what I made for mine http://goo.gl/xtNBZ
I can upload it if anyone wants to use it. I take no credit for creating the initial .gif but I extracted it to .png
Make sure the desc.txt is made correctly!
Good luck.
I am intrigued by the prospect of making my own files...the informational link in this thread is broken, can someone elaborate on the specifics of the desc.txt file mainly the values before part0 and part1? Also, does the framerate value in the first line mean that it will go through 10 of the files in the part0 folder every second? Lastly, I am assuming that the size of the png files should match the resolution listed in the first line of the desc.txt.
Boot Animation with Sounds
An all inclusive zip, one zip for all your pirate-y needs!
Boot Animation with Sounds
Boot Animation
Boot Animation Preview (real animation looks much cleaner)
Download Boot Animation (seperate)
Just made a boot screen, wanted it simple, so just a spinning wheel.
Start and Shutdown Sounds
The start sound is Guybrush saying:
Boot Sound
"One thing I've learned the hard way over the years is that you should never pull a monkey out of your pocket until the most dramatically useful moment!"
The shutdown is Guybrush saying:
Shutdown Sound
"You know, I hear that nine times out of ten: the first place you bury your treasure is the spot it where it will most likely be found!"
If you want the sounds seperate, they are included in the zips below. The 0.1.0 is just the quotes, the 0.2.0 is the quotes with music just like the previews.
All you have to do is throw it on your SD Card, then go to Clockwork Recovery, choose zip to install, and viola! Guybrush greets you everytime you start your phone!
All props go to leatherneck6017 for the sound zip, I just edited his zip and put Monkey Island sounds in it.

[EDITS]
Now with an all inclusive zip, one zip for all your pirate-y needs!
Added a separate Boot screen zip! Obviously looks better than the preview gif, hah.
Added the chapter select music in the background and preview links! Download the MIBSSounds0.2.0!
Or 0.1.0 if you want it without the chapter music and just the quotes.
Added the chapter select music to the boot, and made dropbox previews! Let me know what you think.
I tested them several times and no problems. Also if anyone is interested in helping me compile it together with a boot animation I'll start working on an animation!
Good stuff!

Thanks! Glad you don't mind me using your zips, hah!
Just made a custom boot screen! Wanted it simple, but looking like Monkey Island. All props to Steve Purcell for his awesome Monkey Island Art!
I may work on multiple boot screens if people are interested.
that's nice!
download links don't work anymore though
attached - one i made from the preview gif...
So i dont know if im the only one who has search for a good LWP of the xoom Boot animation so for all you who have serched well here is a diffrent way of makeing it, if i knew how to code it i would of lol
first off there is an app out that would let you make your own LWP out of images
Search market for LWP Creator
you will also need the boot animation images found here
http://forum.xda-developers.com/attachment.php?attachmentid=526522&d=1298587966
extract files and or rename part0 to whatever you like just so you know what it is
transfer files somewhere into xoom memory (remember where you sent them)
after LWP Creator has been installed go to wallpapers, livewallpaper LWPcreator settings uncheck sdcard go to folder path, change placement and sizeing and adjust desired FPS , back, set wallpaper and you got it a live wallpaper of the xoom boot animation, there are other images you can use but i like the stock xoom animation for lwp
youtube link of how it looks (audio is crap so remember to mute it )
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bLqPf9_PdtM
Curious what is the effect this lwp has on your battery life, if any?
not too sure on battery life i been running LWP on my xoom since i bought it the only thing i noticed that drains my battery is the display itself by that i mean watching movies and so on but other then that not really noticed much else
Can anyone make a transformers type theme but using an android scheme? like the pictures posted. and like a transformers type bootloader using similar android toon scheme. just a thought would be dope if someone can make it as i picture it.
Droid-life.com search Droid prime boot animation. They have a download with sound. Back up the originals, put in media folder, rename sound to Bionic.ogg fix permissions to match originals done.
Sorry if this has been known, but I have had this phone for a few days and can't quit tinkering...
I thought the startup boot animation was awesome, with the world spinning around.
I am a die hard OSU Buckeye fan and was very irritated my next boot showed the Moto "M" surrounded by blue and gold threads ( michigan u colors)...
I tried several times to replace it, but no other file would stick...
After some digging found that you need to manually remove the bootanimation.zip located in data/local/moodle.
Then you can replace the bootanimation.zip in system/media.
If you do not replace the bootanimation and just remove the first one, you will have the initial start-up boot animation!
Pretty cool !
Go Bucks!
Great!
