Hi guys,
thanks everyone for their work on rom development.
I wanted to ask when roms can be developed why can't we free the bootloader ourselves.
What exactly will motorola do when they free the bootloader (if they do so). Will they provide us with any codes or do something else.
What is this bootloader and what it does?

Hi all,
I have an unrooted Motorola Milestone with stock 2.1 update 1 version of Android.
I am kinda noob at rooting, etc., but I guess i'll learn all of that with the help of this forum.
As of now, I want suggestions about which 2.2 rom shall I select from the following:
1. Dexter's Moto Blur
2. Dexter's Moto Frenzy
3. Dexter's Moto Sense
I have purchased my Milestone from India & live in India. I need my camera to work along with the Android Market, MotoNav & Apps2SD. These are my primary needs.
Kindly suggest me the best ROM from the above list.
Help would be truly appreciated.
Thanks & Regards
Manan

No not at all. For 1 our device isn't supported and for 2 we have already figured out a workaround to the locked bootloader

It may not be supported yet but if they do add our phone to it, yes it will help. We may have a Kexec kernel but an unlocked bootloader will make things far easier.

Will for one it says page not found so im saying they are not unlocking the bootloader but it it does not matter because of the fact that we have a workaround.

Apparently it got posted and pulled and I think reposted. Android police or droid had the supported device list

If you look here (https://motorola-global-portal.cust...sion/L3RpbWUvMTM0NTI1NDk1NC9zaWQvU3VDYlRZM2w=) only the Photon, Xoom, and RAZR dev can be unlocked. And the RAZR dev should be unlocked anyways... it IS the dev edition. This means nothing, and with working Kexec, I don't see why we'd even change since everything now is being written for Kexec and development for this phone ins't exactly active, we essentially have 2 people developing new things for it. There are more GNex kernels than there are D3 devs.

At this point what difference can it make. Either way we can load a kernel, just need the kernel to be built

Kexec makes this pointless. The reason development stopped initially was because making a ducati binary work with the Gingerbread stock kernel for ICS was impossible. Also doing a kernel module custom was too. Now even though we have ducati and it won't work for the camera we can do other things like Chrome. Also, Hash was going to modify his custom kernel for a camera driver for us as his next approach. This gives us options we didn't have before. The fact that we use Kexec is better because it is flashed on top of the kernel existing at first and it is just a ROM. If it is a bad flash all you have to do is just reflash from Safestrap. We couldn't do that before.

If your looking at this thread THANK YOU.
So I am by no means dev, i just have had a lot of android devices and have experienced flashing addiction like the rest of us on here. But my question is, is it possible to load a new recovery with the locked bootloader. If this is a newb type question, sorry but I've never really known. And bundled into this question, my photon has had the ability to use stock based roms without unlocking the bootloader. I know that the photon is a tegra 2 device, but does omap work the same way? I o appreciate any answers.

anything not signed by amazon will give the device problems. So no at the moment.
Okay, I did my obligatory search of the forums and of Google, but I've come up empty.
Is it possible to install Cyanogenmod 11 Nightlies on our beloved N900A using SafeStrap? I know one person has had reported luck (but I can't find the link, sorry), but they didn't elaborate on jack squat. A yes or no will suffice but an explanation would be nice.
Yours truly,
The Sphere.
AFAIK, we can't install AOSP ROMS on our version of the note 3 because at&t locked the boot loader. So, no, it wouldn't work for our variant.

What custom recovery I should use on AT&T Galaxy Note 3 - 4.4.2 - N900A?
Safe strap in the development section is the only thing you can use
So.. do you think we will ever find a way to unlock to bootloader

I read a few months back that an exploit was found that will unlock the bootloader permanently. It is supposed to be released in august some time. If I find the like I will point you to it.
