Hey,
I accidentily deleted mms.apk (missclick, stupid, I know) and I tried restoring it to a version I found online. What I did was copy it to my SD card, in root explorer mount to r/w, moved the file to system/app/ and tried to install it there.
Those were the instructions I found. However, I got the message 'application not installed'.
What could be causing this, am I trying to install the wrong mms.apk? If so, does anyone have the proper one for the LG Optimus 2x?
Thanks in advance!
Here's the 2.2.2 Mms.apk from the global version of the O2X

Hope it fixes your problem ^^

So I am using a rom right now that I'm really happy with, except for one thing- I don't like seeing SMS and MMS in my call log. Is there anyway to replace the logsprovider.apk file with one that will exclude these message from the log? Thanks!
Wrong section, what rom are you running
sorry. I am actually running the 2.2 leak (JI6) that you can flash from ODIN, but I flashed Hardcore's Speedmod kernel 34A and JL3 modem and removed all the bloat. It's just branded enough (I like the GalaxyS boot animations), but it's still fast and smooth and good on battery. I just hate seeing a billion text messages in my call log!

Drop the attached logsprovider.apk in system/app and reboot.
What is the easiest way to access that folder? I'm having trouble with that part...
Root explorer
Free, super manager
Moved to Q&A as not android development
Ok, so I put the .apk in the system/app folder and rebooted. The logsprovider.odex still shows a much older date and messages are still showing up in my call log. Do I have to do something with the odex?
bump...having the same issue
Mine actually says "application not installed" when I go to install it after moving it to system/app
Pretty sure adam uploaded a deodexed version. You need the apk and odex files in order for it to work on a stock rom. I am not sure which rom the logs provider is from but assuming adam has grabbed the firmware from samsung as a starting point for a rom he would have what you need and know which.

...and it needs to be deodexed to edit it.
Besides, there's no benefit to an odexed ROM.
I'm using the Captivate with the leaked Froyo 2.2 update (I897UCJI6). In root explorer, I do have the modified LogsProvider.apk as well as LogsProvider.odex (which has not been modified or changed, etc). What do I do from here?
bump please
Drop log provider apk, in system/app
It's already there. The problem is that when I try to install it, it doesn't work. It says "Application not installed."

Do not install. Reboot. Have someone send to a text, should be fixed
I did that, too. I cleared out all of the old text messages from the log, rebooted, and they're still being listed. Someone just sent me a text about 10 minutes ago actually and it's there in the Log.
WTF???? I successfully deodexed my ROM but I still can't get the LogProvider.apk to install. It still says "Application not installed."

Hi, I´m using Darky´s Gingerbread ROM and there isn´t any "Write and Go" application.
I want this application back because it´s really easy to post something to the facebook wall. Could you please someone copy this application from the system and put it here for download for me?
EDIT: Please I need it :/ the installer apk from /system/app would be just fine

Here you go: http://dl.dropbox.com/u/6524760/WriteandGo.apk
I have got it from XWJS5 in Romkitchen.
Thanks, but it seems it isn´t working for me. I get "Application not installed." error message :/
I think you have to copy it directly in /system/app/ with rootexplorer (after mounting system R/W)

I tried it, it doesn´t copy anything.
Try to download it from Romkitchen as an update.zip then flash it with CWM!
quick question Gerusz,
when i goto romkitchen, click on galaxy s, then on generate, then on the apps tab, then select only flash and go, it tells me that if i dont select a launcher my phone wil be unusable. How to i create an update.zip that ISN"T trying to replace my entire ROM?
thanks in advance!
Hey I have the same problem, using darky rom and i couldnt find this app anymore. Any solution yet? been searching for quite some time
I know this is an old thread, but just thought that you guys on darky ROM should know that all of these apps are available and installed on your phone on your SD card. They will be in a folder for darkyROM and they will be saved in system/apps within that folder. You use and always should use the darkyROM tool available from the market and it will add or remove any system app you want and it backs them up (so if you remove something you shouldn't you can re-install again) and also it does the same for user apps too. It has now been suceeded by the darkyOTA application though which provides Over The Air updates for ROM related stuff. All support and info is located on the darkyROM forums to check out
hi,
can some one find me the native (stock) email apk that comes with gingerbread 2.3.3 released for galaxy tab last week by chainfire.
i managed to corrupt it first and then delete it through titanium .
i tried the one thread from motorola defy that doesnt install.
any help is highly appreciated.
regards
naufil
I'm not sure if it's exactly what you're looking for but i compiled the stock email for gingerbread because the dx GB leak didn't include stock email and I dislike the blur one. Do a post search of my name and it should come up... let me know if this helps you.

Go get this ;
Overcome_v2.0.0_BETA2_Full\system\app\Email.apk
Expand the zip or rar, then Look for Email.apk in the above directory
apologies, but i am unable to locate this thread.
if your talking about exploring it in my tab, i believe it will not be there as i am gingerbread released by chainfire.
is there anyway i can may be factory reset without loosing my applications that i installed. this should bring this email application back.
thanks for your help in advance.

naufil

i tried the factory wipe from recover mode
its still doesnt work even if i got it factory reset the email apk is gone.
i wonder how can that be.
A factory reset doesn't bring back any deleted files.
Do it as StarLog said.
Download the Overcome v2.0.0 BETA 2 Full Install from
thread http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1074759
extract email.apk from /system/app
Copy it to your tab's directory /system/app
(Tab must be rooted, /system must be rw)
Hi
I search working google talk with videochat working in new v20n gingerbread
But without success i have tested talk installer root of market but not one working.
Any idea?
Sorry for my english,thanks
I tried to restore gtalk from cm7 cwm back up but no result.
Google plus hangout works perfectly though. Still it is strange as it is supposed to be implemented from 2.4 onward.
found this and working
Mediafire gtalk with video
Backup first
gtalk.apk
libtalk_jni.so
if not working change permission
Thank you will give it a bash.
Do you just replace the files directly or do it trough titanium?
Or does the zip needs to be flashed in recovery
I tried to replace talk.apk with ES Explorer (with the mount system aswritabke option checked) and even though i got operation failed now i have the video call option.
But cant make a call
have you overwrite ibtalk_jni.so and change permission talk.apk?
and delete old talk.odex?
you can delete talk.apk and talk.odex and rebbot to recovery and flash it directly

Where do i find the odex file? I made back up of the two files libtalk_jni.so and talk.apk . Tried to flash in recovery but got error message.
talk.odex is in system/app after talk.apk
My stupid ES Explorer does not show me the odex files Face palm
looking for root explorer now
P:S:
After switching the off and than back on the root explorer setting of ES Explorer it decided to delete and copy as it should.
And even bigger face palm for me , I am using the Lite version which is deodexed i think
Anyway now it works like a charm. Both between gtalk-gmail-google plus
Woop Woop
Perfect
Erik what about CM7 ? Dies not work in last few versions (went back to CM because of unconvincing v20n)
Tried to flash couple of times the gtalkt video zip from cyanogen but to no avail. Maybe a clean instal will do it.
P.s. Not to worrie. Just saw the new v20n room by Huexxx and going to try it.
p.s. a bit patchy on Zeus v1 but works after a while, not sure where the hiccup is
As already posted on the Zeus tread with Zeus 2.1 it works perfectly with the provided here files.

Hi All,
I installed this rom: "[NookHD+] CM10.1 native emmc install updated 06/05" but am having a problem installing .apk. I've tried two different application .apk files (re-downloaded them also to make sure they weren't corrupted) but I get the same error. Any ideas on how to fix this? Will changing the build.prop help? What's the best build.prop for the Nook HD+ 32GB 1080p?
Thanks!

I am having that problem also. Mine won't play or work with any files on the card and I have tried 3 different ones but they all work in recovery. Something might be wrong with our cm10.1 installation. Not sure. Let me know if you find out

Found the fix. I used "Solid Explorer" instead. ES file explorer seems to have a problem caching the temp. apk downloads. Good luck.!
