Like the title says, I am having problems with my data connection. Unless my phone shows full signal bars I have almost no connection to the internet (android web browser times out.) When I have full signal bars I get a nice and fast response.
I should also mention that, when the signal bars show less then half, people complain that my voice sounds "garbled" or "digitized".
I would not be surprised if the following had something to do with it; I am running the Bell i9000m on the Rogers network.
Should I be using a different modem? I recall reading somewhere that the JL2 modem also solved some sort of data corruption issue.
Firmware: 2.2.1
Baseband version: I9000UGJL2
Kernel Version: 2.6.32.9 [email protected] #32
Build number: Darky's v9.2 Extreme Edition
Change your rom is my suggestion .
But first i would check the Bell posts on here see if its a fixed problem .

Bleh, I'm getting desperate here, looks like I'm the only one experiencing this.
This seems to applies to any modem I've tried so far on 2.2.1 roms. I get excellent reception (3-4 bars H or 3G) and yet data doesn't flow through in some areas while still maintaining that excellent connection. Usually fails more when I am indoor although again, the reception is in theory great.
Seems to be happening more often when I'm using 850 band but that's not really an indicator. I tried JL2, KC1, JQ1 and JPG (all worked on 850 no problem) but I still experienced the same data issue. Flashed various Doc rom (now on his latest 2.2.1 with SpeedMod K13e kernel).
Could it be my SIM card that's damaged ? I've been experiencing this for a long time but I remember the phone being ok when I first got Froyo on it and definitely ok with 2.1
Any ideas ?
Just stumbled on Roger's Captivate "latest" modem CWM flashable, UXJL1. Would it be a good idea to try and flash this one ?
I actually didn't notice at first(since 3g is patchy where I live) but since switching to the overcome rom my tab will connect to 3g but as soon as data transferring begins/resumes it will switch back to "H" which is thier high speed "Edge" network.
Baseband version: I9000UGJK3
Could this be the at&t modem that overcome provides?
Are there any other modems I could test out that might be better?
Thanks for your help.
found what i was looking for here
My toolbar still shows "H" during data transfers ("3G" otherwise) but the speeds seem fine, so I'm not sure what the issue is with that.
H is HSDPA which is faster 3G. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/HSDPA
Ok that makes more sense, thanks.
Speeds seem to be the same with the jm2 modem, anybody else done testing on the rogers network?
I have a problem with mobile signal on my nexus one. Sometimes it shows no signal but it gets some (one or two bars out of four) if I try to make a call. I can actually make a call in third attempt. Sometimes it show four bars and my number is unavailable.
If I try to change settings to 'use 2G only', it loses signal completely (with 'x' above signal bars) and I have to reboot or turn on airplane mode to get signal back.
Model: Nexus One not rooted
android version: 2.3.4
baseband v: 32.41.00.32U_5.08.00.04
Kernel v: 2.6.35.7-59463-g52630a3 android-build(at)apa28 #1
Build No: GRJ22
Any ideas what may cause the problem???
Lost 2G and 3G
I have the same problem, anyone knows how fix this signal lost???

Same Problem
I changed my chip from GSM to 3G and having some problems with data connection. I know I have Internet when the bars and 3G icons turns green, but I don't have when they become gray... And I don't know why this happens... I installed the app Network Signal Info and when I saw the results I realized that it's a section saying... "Phone Type = GSM". Is this the problem? and how can I change it? Thanks in advice
Hi everyone, noob here so dun wanna start a new thread with my question since it is related to this matter and I was wondering if anyone can help me because I really can't figure it out anymore.
I have an International GT-i9000 purchased with Hong Kong and system specs I have running are
Gingerbread.ZSJW4 (recently flashed the official ROM from Hong Kong cuz I am anal and want to keep the same languages)
Kernal: 2.6.35.7-I9000ZSJW4-CL1147074
[email protected] #2
Bandbase version: i9000ugkg3
And I use AT&T in New York (I know, worse plan to use in dead zone capital of the US)
I had flashed the ugkg3 modem on it because the JW1 modem that was with the official ROM wasn't working out for me and I had heard this modem was the best for my area. Before it would either not pick up a signal when coming up from underground or the signal just go dead, which did not happen when my phone was on Froyo (on Froyo I did not have 850mhz enabled and it worked alright outside and sometimes in the house)
At first, the KG3 modem worked wonderfully, I was able to receive data in my house and was on 3 bars (compared to none to one before). However, I now notice that while I do have full bars, I cannot receive or send messages or phone calls (even though my brother's Note is able to do all that and it was next to my phone).
I also happens when I am outside as well.
The other day I was standing in front of the AT&T store near where I am and I still don't pick up a signal.
Or it would lose the signal and never pick it up again.
Unless if I really can't use 850mhz on my phone, which does not make sense because AT&T uses 850mhz.
I am real hesistant to try another modem, and I cannot figure out if it is a hardware issue or network issue, or is it just the wrong modem?
Can someone please share any insight?

my other question is, phone is not ICS, and I found the nexus S one...will it still work?
and can I just extract out modem.bin and flash via ODIN ?(somehow my phone won't do CMW recovery...)
Hi Guys.
I'm having mobile data issues with my N7000 on CM11. I'm not totally sure when it started, but I changed network providers and also re-flashed the phone from OMNI to CM and used a modified PIT file all over 2 days.
My problem is that I have mobile data when connected on 3G and H+, but when ever connected on just plain old H I have no data throughput at all. The phone thinks it does, but I can assure you I don't. Annoyingly most of the cells around where I live are H and not H+ so it leaves me pretty screwed.
I currently have 2014/08/31 nightly CM 11 4.4.4
Baseband N7000XLT3
Is this the right baseband for a N7000 in the UK on the network Three?
cheers guys.
Bump
Baseband number looks fine to me, I think that's general Europe.
I too have had that problem but only when I have the "3g" icon. I haven't ever been able to solve it.
