[Q] Is it safe to update an unlocked SGS via Kies ??

Hi everyone ! I just bought a used SGS i9000. It's an 3 UK version. Its unlocked and i'm using it in India.
It currently on Android 2.1 and luckily kies is recognizing it and its showing that 2.2 update is available. It it safe to update ? Would I loose the unlock ? I saw the status by typing *#7465625# and all fields were 'OFF' .

Updating wont lock your phone its no difference to you or Kies .
It will of course update to 3 UK branding if any is included .

3 UK branding is already there. It shows 3 logo on start up and there are some apps with 3 in their names. Eg. Skype on 3 , etc.
Anyways, I have started the update via kies ! Hopefully it will finish soon and not relock the phone ! I'll post the status as soon as it gets completed !

Oh man !!! The update was successful !!! Now i'm on 2.2.1 (FROYO.NEJP5) !!
Lets hope the official Gingerbread also comes soon on kies !!

Galaxay Note CSC KOR -will never receive an update?

I have a note CSC LA4 KOR. . does this mean my phone will never receive an update unless I root or change the coding and completely wipe all my phones data?
Kies says my device does not support updgrades and I read that I wont get push updates either? ..
Im new to android and I own a mac, so am I basically f***ed and stuck with 2.36 for the life of the phone?
or is my research totally wrong?

I just did a quick google search and apparently if you know your way around a mac and it's terminal then it's possible to root and etc. As for receiving an update the new update was for Europe and since you have a Korean device you'd probably have to wait for a Korean update. I'm not to sure about Kies not saying your device doesn't support updates, I got off stock as soon as I got the phone.

Just change csc lol, easy, search for it lol. Best to dl stock rom with csc of choice, flash it and then change csc

but doesnt that require completely wiping the phone? and isnt a PC needed to do that?
a user shouldnt have to completely wipe data to do a basic update. .

I had the LPY 4.0.3 yesterday and decided to go back to my original 2.3.6 GB
What I did was because my phone is the Hong Kong model (TGY) I went to SamFirmware site and under Asia I downloaded N7000ZSKK1
After flashing that on it still wasnt the right one as Kies still displayed that it wouldn't update.
But a firmware update OTA poped up and when I plashed to that I got my original GB 2.3.6 back.
So I tested it by connecting it to my windows PC and kies displayed that I had the latest firmware.
So my advice to you is you should look for the 3 letters in brackets under firmware and on SamFirmware site download the correct firmware for your device.
Mine was TGY for Hong Kong so yours will be different or the same.

From what I'm reading the KOR version will never recurve updates for some reason...can anyone confirm or deny this?...I don't mind waiting...

Hi... Actually same happened with me too... I bought ma phn from India and and took it to korea. And started using it on KT. But when i put ma phn on kies they said that this firmware is not supported vai kies. Before i didnt knew what tge heck is this. Then after some time i inserted indian sim (which obviously is not working here) n then restarted. Ma phone was recognised by kies n it come that YOU HAVE THE LATEST FIRMWARE. So what i understood was of u have the sim from where you bought ur phone(in ma case it was India), just insert it,restart it. N update or do whatever with kies or if dont have just download the correct and latest firmware acording to ur country from sammobile.com, put ur mobile on download mode (by pressing volume down, menu, power button in same time until the warning screen comes up then press volune up key) n by using odin flash that latest firmware. If you dont know how to flash using odin Just tell me. I will let you know. I hope this will help you.

Ps: for flashing no need of rooting and all.

I bought my phone in Thailand. .but I believe it is a Hungarian model made in korea (the owners manual is in Hungarian). the back of the battery says made in japan/finished in korea?? .and now I live in Vietnam. .what a clusterf**k
I can do the odin thing but I dont own a PC (I own a mac) so it is not easy. Last time i did it it took well over an hour with downloads and installations.
Ill be in Thailand shortly so ill see if it will update with a Thai sim, but i doubt it as I dont think it is a Thai made phone ..

KOR doesn't mean Korea.It's for some European countries,and every Note will be updated.

Dont worry. The place you bought matters not the place where it is made. But i dont understand, Y ur phone showing kor. Are u using ur note in veitnam?? If yes then y its still showing korean csc. not sure why its saying KOR when im in Vietnam. . I really dont understand any of this. . this is my first android.
Ill try to mess with it tonight and see what I come up with, but from what im reading people are saying KOR is not a valid CSC or its a generic CSC and will never receive updates. .
man this is all overally complicated to get a basic update that was supposed to be released in Q1.

Worry not cuz csc doest matter. Samsung phone are most hackable devices. U ll know how to deal with it. I also learnt all hacking with this device. Njoy...

success!!. . I updated to ICS using Odin and it was really easy.
My only difficulty is owning a mac and the use of a PC at work is very restricted, so i needed the IT guy to allow access to download all the drivers, kies etc. .
but when all is said and done if you own a PC it is a really easy process thanks to Dr Ketans tutorial. .

your research is totally wrong, ICS is being rolled out to different countries at different stages

[Q] Unable to upgrade through KIES after motherboard replacement?

Today i got my phone back after a hardbrick, with a replaced motherboard, so extremely happy about that.
But the downside is, when i connect my note to my computer and open kies it says this:
Your Device does not support software upgrading via Kies.
Current firmware version: N7000XXLA6/N7000XENLA1/N7000XXLA4/N7000XXLA6 (XXX)
Could this be caused by the motherboard replacement i've recently got? In the way that parts of software does not match anymore?
second: Is there a non root fix for this?? No??!! any other fix?

I have very same issue. Logic board replaced and since that Kies says no support for my device.
Current firmware version: PDA:LA6 / PHONE:LA4 / CSC:LA1 (XXX)
I would like to go into ICS but I am worried to do any firmware changes, in case they will not accept any other replacements if any issues. Any advice?

I think its down to your computer already reconising the device as it was before try uninstalling kias and reinstall

I've did a connection troubleshoot problem checker thing. But that didn't help.. I'll try reinstalling the whole program+drivers maybe that's it?

i have same problem too.。 i already reinstall my pc windows 7. but it doesnt solve the problem.. i also unrootred my sgn ..but still the same

E-mailed samsung yesterday but that will probarbly cost a week before i get an answer back that will not help.

The pcode is not activated from service center or corrupted had the same issue send it backvthey didn't fix it and got a replacement from the shop bought it. It is a problem caused/not solved from service center. Live with it or send it back.

than my question is, will i receive OTA updates? cause i can live without Kies, but idd like to recieve updates.

O yeah got an email back from Samsung support, they explained me how to instal kies.. very very helpful:s

Do This; i Got this Here On This Forum.
Change your CSC Code to German and upgrade via KIES; this will also factory reset your phone.
so on phone :
*#272*IMEI# then change the CSC to DBT.
Phone will reset.
Change language to English (bottom right icon)
follow prompts to setup
Connect to KIES and the phone will update to ICS.
When your finished, you change the CSC code back to whatever you had before

thanks, allready tried that.. I have one with only XEN, nothing to choose further..
What i just did, flashed back to the first ROM available for my phone and country, still not working with Kies... But OTA updates did work, so if a new update is available i will receive it OTA i guess
Happy enough about that, dont really have the need to be rooted or have a custom ROM after the first attempt went really wrong(reason boardswap) but i like to have a fully working phone, also when connecting it to the Computer

I have tried do this too, but it will not let me change current CSC XEU. Don't know why. I have also tried copy and paste but no luck (

Once more! Flash change CSC change imei pray to God wipe rewipe ALL OF THEMA WILL NOT REPAIR IT send it to service center if it comes so back try to get a replacement/refund.

new kies update fixed it?
I had this exact same problem. But now looks like it's fixed. All of a sudden my Kies has started to recognize the fimware and tells me that the current version is the latest version!
So the new update of Kies fixed it?
My kies version is 2.3.2.12054_19

I guess installing it manually would more effecient. Could you send to me to [email protected], or could you give me a direct link where I could charge it directly, because Samsung Kies is not showing it ...

The new version of Kies 2.3.2.12054/19 solved my problem now I can upgrade to ICS, but is it good idea? Is ICS better than GB?

[Q] help with update!!!!

i had charging problems with my note so i gave it in samsung care and got the mother board replaced, i received it today and got it with ics, i from india and here jb is released through kies, so i tried to update through kies and it says your device's current firmware version is not supported to update firmware via kies.....before i gave it to service center and when i tried to update ota it used to say you are in line soe kind kind of msg now it says no update available, kindly help me i want to update my phone to jb through kies!!!!!!

the screenshot isnt clear so cant say whats wrong.. but seems once of the parameters is not matching .. check for modem and csc
or use Odin to flash

Hello everyone, I post this thread in order to get help from anyone who is willing , I have this s4 active i537 with an att logo.over it and the problem is that whenever i check for ota updates there appears a bug saying "software update interrupted" and I am stuck on 4.2.2 for such a long time , I have posted a picture of the screenshot of the baseband version and etc , any sort of help would be deeply appreciated , thankyou

Two questions:
Do you have an AT&T sim card in the phone and are you connected to WiFi?
Has the phone ever been rooted or have the system files been modified in any way?

If you have an att Sim card and are factory stock unrooted, download the update its a cfg, rename it to a zip file and put on SD card, boot into recovery by holding up volume as it boots, then apply update from SD card
