is it possible to downgrade?
any help? guyssssssss reply
How about some info: TAB version (wifi, euro tab? asian tab?). Firmware version (*#1234#). Why would you want to downgrade? Explain
Dip7's Android 2.2.1 is consuming a lot of battery also same with overcome 1.4.4 so want to install stock ROM which gives me ultra awesome battery.
Apart from battery life, i use Samsung Bluetooth SBH 650 stereo bluetooth which gives a very low volume flashed different modem but of no use, getting low volume in headset. im a business person and could not have such custom rom. original ROM gives proper high call volume .
I have installed Dip7's Android 2.2.1 custom rom.
i got this info:
PDA: P1000ZHKC2
PHONE: P1000XXJMF
CSC: P1000ZZHKC1
I am from india so maybe i got indian version.
Can i downgrade??

Have you tried? I don't see any reason why you couldn't, but I suspect you would have to completely wipe.
Regards,
Dave
completely wipe means? it will wipe internal memory also or just 2gb memory which installs programs?
Just the 2GB - effectively /system and /data. However, I'd always back up the rest just in case!

Dave

Hi there,
Froyo 2.2 is out for us Aussies and after upgrading it has been a train wreck for me lagging, apps don't work, and don't get me started on txting, it has got to the point that I don't want to use the phone any more
If the ROM is supplied can a developer make a custom ROM for us Auzzies made from the optus ROM but without the bloatware, optimized, no lag etc. I'm sure alot of us would appreciate it.
The only thing is i applied the 3 button fix.
Model: GT-I9000
Firmware: 2.2
Baseband I9000DTJP3
Kernel: 2.6.32.9
Build: Froyo DTJP5
Any help would be appreciated
Did you do factory reset? Clear cache , dalvich cache etc. Mine was unresponsive till doing this, the upgrade can sometimes be messy to say the least. If you want no bloatware download the unbranded aussie 2.2 from samfirmware.
I am having the same problem and now I am trying to get some kernel update but the problem is that the 3 button is not even fixed in froyo update from optus
they just want to use their crappy software with the phone and get the worst experience of the phone !!!!
but you just said you had the 3 button fixed! which link did you fix from or would please write down the step for it.
thanks mate
Hi all,
thanks to UK T-Mobile behaving like a bunch of barbarians I've lost my patience and would like to go down the route of using an unbranded Froyo update via the regedit / kies hack.
Before I step off though I'd like to know if I've got the basics right . This is what I'm hoping is the correct thing to do:
1. Use Titanium Backup pro and back up apps and system files (hopefully by dropbox)
2. Do a factory wipe/reset (is this necessary at this stage?). I feel like I should start on a nice clean page.
3. Connect my SGS to Kies and use regedit to modify the correct bit for a UK unbranded Froyo
4. Update
5. Do another factory wipe/reset
6. Put TitaniumPro's folder back on choose to resintall everything except system files (this is another bit I'm not 100% clear on)
6. Go for RyansZ's Z4 root followed by the OCLF (or Voodoo?)
7. Smile and have a taost to my new unbranded Froyo SGS?
I have gone through the posts and feel that this seems right but there's such a lot of disparate information it's not always clear to me.
Finally I'd also be very grateful if someone could point me to the best/correct UK Froyo keys.
Many thanks everyone.
Kies Registry Patcher 1.6.0.0, patch registry on latest Kies
I used that for flashing my O2 product code SGS to a generic Froyo ROM with the latest KIES. Managed to flash JPO (XEU), JPA (XEE) and JP5 (O2U).
As far as I know:
XEU = generic euro
XEE = generic Scandinavian (does have English Locale)
O2U = O2 products.
Absolutely spot on! Thanks very much for this. I'd have been wandering the endless corridors of xda for years.
Thank again.
I would also add a few things:
Im sure you know, but make sure when you flash youre at 100% battery.
Also, there have been a few issues with battery drain (thanks to email and gallery sensor bug). Now it doesnt seem to affect everyone, nor does it seem to affect a particular ROM, but i thought you should be aware of this.
Just make sure you have a 2.1 ROM to go back to in case you have any issues with Froyo.
Thanks again for the straight info. One more quick question; what's the best way of saving the old 2.1 rom to be used later if needs be?
Cheers again.
Im not too sure about how to make a backup on the SGS.
From what i understand you can use clockwork recovery to do this, but i havent looked into it much myself as i had already lot my original ROM by the time this came out: [RECOVERY] ClockworkMod Recovery for Galaxy S i9000 (FINAL! SAFE!).
Alternatively find out what your PDA, Modem and CSC are (*#1234#) and with those values see if you can find someone who has already made a backup of the ROM.
Sorry folks, tried reading the similar type threads and I'm missing something..
Kernel Version
2.6.29
root SE-S603 #2 (removed at sign cause it comes up as external website-strange)
Build number
ECLAIR.XWJM9
Firmware
PDA : I9000XWJM9
PHONE: I9000XXJM4
CSC: I9000OXAJM1
2.1-update 1
Purchased thro' orange, and unlocked, don't think it's branded so someone may have updated it previously. (I bought phone ebay)
Using RegEdit
ProductCode GT-I9000HKDORA
Tried changing to O2 etc using some of the key mentioned, using as follows
Connected phone, using Kies (Phone setting)
Opened KIES (on PC)
Tried upgrade, but it comes up with no upgrade possible
Model Name: GT-I9000
Version PDA:JM9 / PHONE: JM4 / CSC:JM1
reviewed orange website and it looks like it can be upgraded if you use Kies, so I'm not sure what I need to do... Don't want to root at moment, in case I brick it..
thanks in advance your your advice...
Hi Bill. I'm not familiar enough with Eclair ROM codes to be 100% sure but considering the phone came off eBay I would suggest that someone has manally flashed it to a non-standard ROM and this would be why Kies doesn't offer you an upgrade. Your options to fix this are (i) to fool Kies into thinking it's a standard version which will make it offer you the official Froyo update or (ii) join the the happy flasher crew (like me) and flash a newer ROM yourself with Odin or Hemidal (being a newbie I recommend you use Odin). Have a search in the SGS forums for info on both how to fool Kies and also how to flash ROMs with Odin. One word of warning, the v2.2.1 ROMS have a serious battery drain issue so it's best to flash a straight 2.2 ROM for now until Samsung release a 2.2.1 with this issue fixed.
Thanks for reply does that mean if i have the superuser app already its been rooted. If so i have ver 2.1.3 do i need to update or it that ok to use. Thanks in advance..

I flashed my phone using the rom I was using weeks ago: XWJM5 (using 512.pit, SERJM1 CSC and XXJM3 modem) all the files are in the JM5 download(single folder) from samfirmware.com
I used adb to get into download, then I selected repartition whilst flashing. ( not sure it's worth noting there's a sbl.bin file in the phone package that gets written to the device)
once i had JM5 up and running i checked whether the 3 button combo was working - it wasn't.
i then followed post 1 to the letter.( no .pit, select bootloader etc) - it takes just a second to run.
Now I just have to decide which ROM i want to try next -JPH awaits !
Well Jimsey, guess what.......... JOB DONE!!!!!
Did exactly what you said - except i added 1 step, (don't know if essential but i've heard reports that it saves some people needing to do a wipe/reset in recovery mode) :- i did a factory reset just prior to flashing of JM5. Other than that tho, i followed everything you did above TO THE LETTER!
Mind you, it wasn't good for my health i swear. It rebooted after flashing JM5, and a load of yellow writing came up saying all the little files it was initialising etc etc blah blah, and then... in RED writing it came up with - CANNOT ACCESS MULTI LOADER FROM TMU, or something like that.
Well, i felt the blood drain from my face. Then it booted up, damn that was scary!
You're right about the combo fix as well, when i flashed that it is as you say a dodgy two seconds, then a few more seconds on a black screen, i swear my heart didn't beat during that time!
Anyway there you go guys, i've just (narrowly avoiding a coronary) flashed my stock T-Mobile UK from BOJG3 to an unbranded, smooth as silk XWJM5, and on top of that flashed the standalone bootloader from post #1. And it works. I have the handset in front of me and it's all lit up on the home screen!
A big thankyou to Jimsey, for being the first pair of feet to jump!
Also to Richthofen for his bootloader fix, and his superb support in all this.
Well, don't know where next, JPC/JPH i suppose, but not yet, i need a drink to recover from this bit first!!

this csc and risk of this do is my problem my friend!?
Hey guys,
I have a problem with my phone, it is a Samsung Galaxy S I9000. I have android 2.3.6 running, it is stock firmware. Now i don't know the original firmware that was on it, and it was flashed with a custom rom before. I reflashed stock firmware which was:
Buildnumber: gingerbread.XWJVH
android version: 2.3.3
Baseband: I9000XXJVO
Kernel: 2.6.35.7-I9000XWJVH-CL 184813 [email protected] #2
I then updated via Samsung Kies, and came to this firmware:
Buildnumber: gingerbread.XWJW1
android version: 2.3.6
Baseband: I9000XXJVT
and its stock kernel (dont remember it)
I then flashed the most recent speedmod kernel for galaxy s:
kernel: 2.6.35.7-I9000XXJVT-CL617736 [email protected] #k16-11 (i used it to root my phone)
Now the problem is that the custom rom that was flashed was a 4.0 android rom. It worked, but then one time when the phone was just on (standby) it suddenly shutdown, and wouldn't boot back up. I tried reflashing the rom using the same (CWM) method as before but it still booted a black screen whenever i started it up. I then flashed another rom which did work. Eventually i went back to a stock rom and this is why:
I have a bad signal everywhere, with every modem (tried several, all for my region). I do not know exactly at which point the signal problems started in this story, but i need help fixing it. I do know that at the original firmware that was on the phone, signals were good.
With a bad signal I mean that I have zero, one or 2 bars reception, 3 bars when im at the attic of our house, and also a lot of times outside I have no service at all (at places where I should be having it).
-I already tried restoring the nv_data.bin from the .bak file.
-I already tried flashing different modems which i am sure of are for my region
-I am using a XEN csc file (im living in the netherlands)
-I already tried messing around with the band selection in service mode of the phone.
-My original IMEI is INTACT!
-My original product code is INTACT!
NOTHING WORKED!!!
I need help please, i thank the ones reading this entire story till the end! and I thank everyone for his or her response (hoping there are gonna be some)
Bump
Does nobody know the problem, since the topic has views but no replies? Can anyone help please?
it could be a hardware problem too..... !!!!! u better try different stock roms or different custom roms....... if there is still no solution then you should take your phone to the service center.
best of luck
@ zamiurratul
Yes I thought of that too, i'm having a handy friend of mine check out the antenna this evening, i'll report back on that later.
Got bad signal as well.
ever since i installed ICSSGS RC4.1

have any backups? have you tried flashing a different rom? does your provider use 850 band? if no backups try a different rom, if provider uses 850 band try
jl2 modem or jk4. if your using cm or miui rom make sure the modems you are using are made for those roms.

OK, thanks this is first step.
Downloaded yaff explorer to browse my backup.
Where do I find my modem from backed up system?
And where can I find a flashable version of the modem?
Or alternatively, how do I know if my carrier uses 850?
Or, how can I find compatible modems for my ROM (ICS team)+ carrier?

As for backup you'd have to restore the whole rom you were on previously. Either through ROM manager or in recovery.
