I dont ever use gtalk, and its just wasting space on my app list. How do I remove it without getting gapps F/C or disabling market?

bump. I too would like to know as this app is the cause of all the market problems (downloads hanging).
it is annoying having to sign in / out of gtalk first.
You can use "Root Explorer" to uninstall system apps you don't need, but I don't know if it'll cause FC's.
Just remove the .apk in the folder /system/app or /data/app and the application will be uninstalled. But as I said, I don't know if removing GTalk will cause you problems.
I didn't think Gtalk could be removed without causing other problems. it is a system app so won't be causing you problems memory wise so just leave it there.
ONLY remove talk.apk, remove anything else that has "talk" in it's name will stop market form working.
if you remove talk.apk, is there any way to trigger the market downloads? i find myself starting talk from time to time, when my market won't download anything...

that was my thinking.
Market will never work properly without Gtalk.
removing talk.apk worked fine for me. Market still works perfectly.
market works for me too
Just to let you know some 2.1 roms have an issue where market will just close (not FC) and it is only solvable by signing into gtalk.
If you don't have gtalk and are on one of these roms then you won't have market.
Unless another workaround can be found.
The reason for me wanting to uninstall gTalk is so I don't suffer from the market issues.
But will removing gTalk solve the market issue? (downloads wont start) or is the problem not related to gTalk but the only solution is to sign in / out of gTalk?
Yea yea I did search for task killers and process managenet. Didnt find what I wanted. I want to prevent apps to launch not to kill them instantly when they launch. Anyone know any app that makes this happen ?
you could freeze the apps with titanium backup, dont know if you need the pro version to do that.
otherwise you could search around for autostart apps, i used one for some time ago to prevent apps from starting at startup, but i dont renember what the app was called!
just search around the market for autostart
Hope this helps you!
thanks i'll check that out
check out Gemini App manager. it does what u need and free.
Hi there!

How do you uninstall stock apps? (using ARHD)
Most noteably, I find it incredibly annoying that all twitter happenings are going through two apps: the Twitter app, and the Peep app, I prefer the twitter app, but can't find a way to get rid of peep.. any advice?

You can uninstall stock apps with Titanium Backup.
After successfully rooting my GT-i8190 via vroot, I changed the Chinese version of Superuser to Supersu with no problems. However, I noticed another Chinese app on my phone that I cannot get rid off. It appears to be a Chinese version of Google Play... I keep getting notifications on my phone telling me to update my apps and when I click on them, it takes me to the familiar 'installed apps' section of the Play Store - all in Chinese.
I've tried deleting the app itself from my apps menu by dragging it to the 'remove' trash bin but nothing happens... It stays in my apps. I also tried going into the normal Google Play Store and finding it under 'My Apps' there, but it doesn't appear.
Does anyone know anything about this app? I haven't found any info on it while searching the forums, just the Chinese Superuser app. Should I freeze the app?
Here are a couple screenshots of what I'm encountering:
Update: I should have tried this before, but it slipped my mind. I believe I have solved the issue. I went into application manager and forced the app to stop and waited to see if there were any issues. There were none. I uninstalled it from there and all seems to be well.
im using https://forum.xda-developers.com/t/rom-a13-official-octavios.4554983/ on a xiaomi tucana, installed the vanilla version with the gapps they recommended (mind the g apps).
ive been trying to disable this app icon for the last 2 days its really annoying to have as i fill my whole app drawer, when i try to disable it, it shows the google app. same with hiding the app, if i hide this it also hides the google app
