A few Qs about the SGT - Galaxy Tab Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi,
I am a new GST user, and i have the following questions, concerning the device:
1. How could i strech the apps that are not compatible with the screen resolution?
2. I am trying to use the Sygic Mobile Maps navigation, but in order to register the maps i have to provide a Device ID, and since i have installed the app to the internal memory, the device does not provide me with the ID. Is there a fix for this issue or i have to buy an extra SD Card?
3. Since once rooted the device breaks its warranty is there a way to unroot the device once needed?
Thank you!

from the overcome instructions
Enabling Full Screen Hack for applications:
a. Go to Market from your galaxy tab and search for “Spare
Part”.
b. Start it and scroll down till you find “Compatibility Mode”
option, it must be ticked already, un
Reboot your Samsung Galaxy Tab.
c. Now start “Spare Part” again, now remove the
“Compatibility Mode” option and
d. Now fire up any application that was previously not running in full screen, it will now run in full
screen, now enjoy all your games and applications in full screen on your Galaxy Tab.

Thanks, works great, unfortunately not for iGo.

[Q] Copilot 9.4.0144 voice-guidance issue

Three days ago the voice-guidance stopped working, after almost a year of flawless operation. I opened a ticket with the ALK support and posted the problem at their forum. They proposed the re-installation solution but did not work.
Below are the dialogues with the support team.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
user voice guide stopped working
As of yesterday the voice guide just says the first syllable and stops. The rest is running ok, just the voice. I changed voice, deactivated it, restarted the phone but nothing works."
support I would suggest reinstalling CoPilot by following these steps:
1) Uninstall CoPilot in SETTINGS > APPLICATIONS > COPILOT.
2) Delete the "com.alk.copilot" folder located on the storage card
3) Clear the cache in your device: go to SETTINGS > APPLICATIONS/MANAGE APPLICATIONS > select PLAY STORE APP > tap "Clear Cache" and "Clear Data"
4) Do a soft reset of your device (off/on)
5) Download CoPilot from Google Play (you will not be charged for this as long as you are logged into your Google Account)
6) Launch CoPilot and activate with your existing CoPilot ID and password
Please note as well that you will need to do a "Cloud Backup" (in MY COPILOT) before reinstalling in order to save your favourites and recent destinations.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
user I uninstalled the app according to instructions, but the problem remains.
In test mode it sounds fine, but in real guidance not. I can just hear the first syllable of the voice.
support The fact that you are just hearing the first syllable could be due to the fact that your device is low on memory. In that case I would suggest powering off your phone and turning it back on again. Clearing some memory could also help.
If you are still experiencing difficulties with voice guidance could you please indicate the following:
1) Have you correctly deleted the "com.alk.copilot" folder when reinstalling CoPilot?
2) Are you using a bluetooth receiver, external speakers or any external device with your phone?
3) Have you correctly downloaded a text-to-speech voice in SETTINGS > LANGUAGE AND VOICE?
4) Which voices have you tried using? CoPilot voices, Android voices?
Additionally could you indicate if you have done any recent changes to your phone recently? A ROM update perhaps?
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
user 23/01/2013. Reinstalled app for third time. Unfortunately now it is not working neither in test mode. It just spells a "Ti" sound and stops.
Regarding the questions:
1.Additionally could you indicate if you have done any recent changes to your phone recently? A ROM update perhaps?
-Phone is running original android 2.1. Since Oct2012 the phone is rooted, for installing Mobilego and get rid off sony preintalled apps, facebook, some games etc. No weird software outside MARKET has never been installed.
Lately I bought a mobile internet subscription and have been using the Operamini and Copilot together and both apps crashed sometimes.
2.The fact that you are just hearing the first syllable could be due to the fact that your device is low on memory.
-Memory status : RAM 49free/176total, Internal 58free/212total, SD 886free/1800total
3. Have you correctly deleted the "com.alk.copilot" folder when reinstalling Copilot?
-Did this through File manager, I think correctly, select and delete.
4.Are you using a Bluetooth receiver, external speakers or any external device with your phone?
-I am using hands-free speaker, and it works fine with FM radio, tune-in, music player, YouTube, video player, skype etc.
5.Have you correctly downloaded a text-to-speech voice in SETTINGS > LANGUAGE AND VOICE?
-I think so. Like the first time one year ago. How could I do it wrong?
6.Which voices have you tried using? Copilot voices, Android voices?
-I tried default TTS voice and the downloadable also.
-just checked that the ANDROID text-to-speech feature is working
support expected....
Did you follow the steps as described?
Especially the "wipe cache" part may be the solution to your problem.
Did this happened after an update?
I see you are using 2.1 so the app may is not compatible any more. In any cases why don't you try an older version that worked well?

I did all the steps . Twice.
It was not after an update. Those days I had overloaded the device with many apps running simultaneously, and Copilot crashed sometimes.
ALK ask me to send over some system files to examine.

>Dear Mr Nikolaidis,
>Unfortunately we do not have any older version to provide you with. However, a newer version of CoPilot has been released yesterday (version >9.4.0.174) so I would suggest trying to downloading this version update from Google Play.

Probably Memory Related
Based on my experiences with Copilot and voice-guidance, it does indeed sound like a low memory issue.
Voice guidance was working fine for me. All of a sudden, it sounded stuttering badly (or not speaking at all). Turns out that I'd installed one too many memory hungry resident programs. Android must have considered voice to be "low on the totem pole" and started killing it when memory got too tight.
My solution was two fold: I uninstalled unneeded programs and installed the V6 Supercharger script. When I need voice guidance, I use the "Super unleaded" settings to allocate enough memory. Voila...perfect voice guidance once again.

Mysterious Application

Hi,
I decided to clean up My Apps on the Play Store by going into the Play Store App, selecting My Apps and then hitting the "X" to drop those I no longer require.
That all worked fine but on my Galaxt Tab 8.9 there is one application called "eBook Application" from "Samsung Electronics Inc" which has me puzzled.
I have no recollection of ever installing this app and now it seems there is no way to get rid of it.
It appears only on the Play Store list, I can not find it anywhere on the device.
The attached screen shots should explain the problem.
When I select from the list I get the second screen saying that my device is not compatible with this version.
It's not a train smash, but it is annoying.
ANy advice or info will be gratefully welcomed.

Hmmm have you tried checking your Applications list?
Settings > Applications > All > look for "eBook Application" or possibly "Samsung eBooks" etc. > tap it and then select Disable (that is, if it'll let you uninstall it, Samsung can be crappy like that )
Hello,
I think this app is part of the Samsung apps installed by default on your tab.
Samsung has a "Samsung app Store", and a manager app on the tab for this store.
The eBook app you're talking about is certainly part of that samsung store. I don't know if you can remove it, maybe you can only uninstall updates that have been automatically installed.
Try by using the Samsung app Store, if there is one on you tab.
Hope that helps
If you're on stock rom, you probably can't install it, as it is part of the factory preloaded apps. Still, you can disable them in Settings -> Apps or uninstall updates. Hope this helps.

[Q] Disabled Apps After Exchange Email sync

Afternoon Guys,
I've recently bought a Samsung Galaxy S6 to replace my old Nexus 5. The lollipop update for the Nexus 5 crippled my phone and I needed a new one. Now moving on...once I've gone through the setup and downloaded all my apps. I then began to add my email accounts. After I added my Microsoft Exchange email for my company, the device then encrypts itselfs and I reboot the phone. After that process is done all the apps I previously downloaded are now disable. But here's the kicker i cannot see the disable apps in the application manager under the Disabled Apps Tab. I can see the apps that i manually disabled. The reason why I can see them is that when i go back to re-download them from the app store they appear as disable there. THere is an enable button but whenever I push to enabled button the app will stay as disabled. The only way that I got around this was to uninstall the app and then install it again. Now I don't want to constantly re-enable all my apps again. So guys I wanted to know a few things:
1. Has anyone else ran into this issue ?
2. Is there an app manager within the play store that displays all apps. disable and enabled ? I've haven't found anything yet.
3. This same issue happens when I go into ultra power saving mode.
P.S.
My phone is not rooted and I am familiar with the process. But I would rather leave my phone as is. Your feedback is much appreciated !
Here is an example of what I'm talking about.

Android SpyTool S8?

Hello,
I need to spy on my sons phone, bare in mind that i am legally fully able to do this, so please don't bash this thread. What i need is software/apk recommendation from you guys on what software is the best. He is tech savvy (but i am rooting and installing custom software on his device) so the software has to support the following:
1. Must be completely hidden
2. Must not be detected by google malware scanner
3. Monitoring that are vast eg. instant messanger apps etc...
4. Root mode and hidden or as system app.
I am experienced android super user so my plan is to root the new phone, replace factory recovery with kernel image to prevent the phone from being factory reset, install the app on it. I seen few apps but most of them need you to deactivate android security scanner, but the problem is that device is clean so he will put his google account, therefore i cannot deactivate it. So i must get the app installer in root mode as system.
You can try spyhuman.com. I used to have it on my kid's phone when it was free and still use it every now and then, but its $10 per month per phone. You install it on the phone directly and it hides itself

*SOLVED* How to install Youtube on Galaxy Tab 8.9 / 10.1 on Android 4.0.4

I made xda account just to post this. Youtube tells us to update from Play Store but it is already the latest version. Apparently there's several posts that had the solution ,but hard to find. and I'm sure some people are still clueless. This is the workaround that I found, just follow step by step to be safe.
Android Version : 4.0.4 Ice Cream Sandwich
Possible Devices: P7500,P7310,P7300
1. UPDATE all your Google Apps. i.e. Gmails, Google needs to be up to date, including YOUTUBE APP (if you uninstalled it already).
2. Go to Settings -> Applications -> All -> Disable Google Services Framework
3. Go to Google Play services , Clear Data, then Force Stop it.
4. Go to Youtube app, Clear Data.
5. Go back to Home screen and run the Youtube app. You have to wait for quite some time in order for it to set.
6. If it pops up displaying "Youtube is not responding". Just close it. and Run it again. IT MAY TAKE SOME TIME SO BE PATIENT. Repeat until it shows the youtube home screen.
7. You be able to run Youtube now. :good::good:
It worked, but now there is another problem. It shows error 400 when opening youtube.
*SOLVED*
Hello to everyone who stumble upon this thread. All the solution given does not work for a long period of time. However there is another better way to use without hassle.
1. Download Opera / Opera Mini and install from Play Store.
2. type in m.youtube.com on search bar and press enter
3. Then can use.
This is the most viable solution without having to think of the workaround as saves your time. With Opera being quite a lightweight browser. It is just as better as trying to run Youtube App.
Thank you everyone.
