Has anyone been able to successfully bypass the the verizon firewalls and been able to have the nfl .apk app to work on the captivate or vibrant?
I downloaded it after using market access to emulate verizon. It installed but just hung on the initial load screen when opened up. I really wanted it too!

I want this too!!
The guys in the nexus forum have been working on this for a while. He finally thought he had gotten passed it, and posted the apk on a different forum. Someone posted the apk on twitter and verizon caught wind of it and sent him a C&D letter. Plus cracking the apk is one thing, but trying to crack vcast is not going to happen. Looks like we are stuck the the espn apk.
Does anyone have a happy alternative to our dilema, other than ESPN's Score Center? It rocked on the iphone, a little too laggy on android. Maybe a good raido app that streams NFL games? Im in Tennessee, and im trying to get my Chicago Bears games. Please, someone help!
i wouldnt think it would be that hard to say get the apk off of the fascinate and then emulate whatever the communications between the phone and verizons server is.........pretty much spoofing verizons server for the app into thinking that its a verzion branded android device and therefor allowing any phone to access it...... of course if it was that easy it would already be done lol.
Looks like they figured it out over in the evo 4g section!!! Only works on wifi for us currently, make sure to reboot your phone after you install.

I tested it. Cannot get it to work over 3G or Wifi. It just sits there and loads forever.
Try rebooting. On my G1 it works over both, but on my gf's captivate it only works on wifi.
i downloaded it, ran droidexplorer to install it and it works flawlessly over wifi. However 3g does not work.
Reboot your phone if it just loads forever
This is amazing....too bad it doesn't work for me on 3G, would love to watch the noon games while i am tailgating on Sunday...
try this out
Hi I am on att using captivate, I just installed this app today and was only able to connect thru wifi as well. I had to get some stuff done round the house and so I turned off my wifi while the NFL app was still running and to my surprise the app still worked and appears to be using my 3G connection.
Works on 3g for me
Yeah I actually downloaded an unlocked apk file at droidforums.net. It is working great over 3g as well for me as of right now on my Captivate.
I however cannot post the link but I will post the apk file.
Also, I'm not sure if it matters but I did have it running first with my wifi on and then I turned it off to test it on 3g. They also have an unlocker tool on that website but I didn't have to use it. Hope it works for you guys.
EDIT: By the way, when you download this through your phone, use Astro or some other file manager to rename it to an .apk file.
NFL Verizon used to work on wireless now not working
Anybody still using this? Even though the app used to run on wireless (3g used to give me some error) after the season got kicked off for real I got a message that I wasn't a Verizon customer. The live streaming never worked, but the app and some of the videos did. I'm running SRE v1.2.2.a (which I know I have to update) but it did work before....anyone else have any luck?
***I must not have been logged in before because I didn't see the zip file above my post last time I saw it, I'll give that one a go***
Worked for me just fine on wifi last night.
still doesn't work on 3g...but
it worked on wifi and I was streaming the NFL channel. It seemed to keep going after I ditched the wifi and was just on 3g, but it won't fire if I just open it up on 3g....
one interesting thing I noted yesterday is that when I turn Mobile AP on and connect my roommate's Vibrant on T-Mo it worked fine, which tells me the app itself is what blocks it from working over 3G vs something like blacklisting the IP's from AT&T, T-Mo, and Sprint...
yeah I mean the only way I get it to work on 3g is if I start it on wireless and then turn wireless off, so there is a check somewhere. Wonder if the app could be faked into thinking it was on wireless or something like that. Anybody have this working on 3g straight from the get go? I get "cannot connect to NFL Mobile. please establish a connection and try again"
Just bought a galaxy tab (tmobile version). Popped in my SIM from my HD7 and it worked for internet flawlessly over 3G connection. Double checked - WIFI was disabled Then I called tmobile and they said I see you have a galaxy tab. I said no I have HD7...I had put the sim back in HD7.
Bad news is now when I put the sim in the TAB I get redirect to tmobile homepage everytime. Did I screw myself by calling tmobile? Anyway to get my unlimitd data HD7 sim to work in my galaxy tab without flashing firmware?
Change your IMEI. Here's the process I followed (i think-- might need to do a bit of searching to be sure)
Make sure your tab is rooted.
DL Root explorer.
mount R/W
BACKUP your efs folder and put it somewhere safe (this is all your IMEI info if I'm not mistaken)
delete the CONTENTS of your efs folder
mount r/o.
restart.
Of course this is illegal depending on where you live, it makes your tab show up as a generic GSM phone.
Translate IMEI Change Instructions
Could you please explain further. For example, I am unsure what MOUNT R/W means etc. Please define abbreviations. Your effort will be appreciated.

These are modes you put the file explorer into. Mount R/W means you can change the files/folders of your sd card. It means read/write. R/O means read only.
What about Samsung Vibrant?
Just wandering if the same process will work with Samsung Vibrant so it can be used with old web unlimited plan.
Anybody tried it?

A warning, this thread will be deleted by the moderators due to forum rules violation regarding imei changes. It has happened once before, just wanted to give you a heads up.
And this tip does actually work.

I tried this trick but soon I realize the reception goes way worse, so I reverted back.

Very interesting. It shouldn't affect the radio. Any possibility there was a location or weather issue when you tried the trick?
Most likely you are surfing under edge. Switch to a 3G modem should solve the problem

It's under exactly same location and 3g only mode, and I had MT4 along with it. I found the 3g signal is
about 10 dB less than MT4 when used the trick when the level is about the same if I revert it back. I think there's something can be done with nv_data files.
There are many 3g modems to try. Any vibrant 2.2 modem will work. Just flash the modem.bin in the phone place in Odin 1.7. You will have to verify your apn and wireless network settings after you flash. Try until you get one that works best for you.
The Vibrant modems are in that phone's development forum in a single thread.
I have successfully flashed a new kernel as well as a new rom (MoDaCo kernal with Overcome rom) in an attempt to turn my tab into a permanent phone on the TMOUSA network. (I'm fine with 2g + voice w/wifi at the moment)
I get the typical redirect (to tmobile) when using the 2g + Voice switch and have attempted to take the steps listed in this post to allow access. However, when I remove the contents of the efs folder and reboot the device, it still redirects.
Looking through the explorer I realize that the efs folder has repopulated, but the imei folder is empty. This doesn't seem abnormal, but without an imei within the folder, how am I still getting the redirect? Is it the kernel or the rom?
I've tried searching for other posts containing this problem, but don't come across any others that are helpful, mainly just "OMG *insert flaming here* I've seen this 100 times check the search option"

I didn't have a problem when i did the step when it first came out before the original thread was deleted. It is very strange that it is not working for you.Dumb question but does your SIM have voice+data on it? I am currently using my Vibrant SIM, just wondering.
Actually, I got it to work finally after switching the modem back to 3g than 2g. Seems ok now.

You always have to check your wireless network settings when you set this up. You know, apn, mode, etc.
If I try this trick and it fails, can I go back to the original settings? I am such a coward when it comes to this stuff. I actually don't "NEED" the voice activated. I just WANT IT because it is there .. know what I mean ? Sort of like voice on my HTC Shift - I don't think I have EVER used it .. Maybe I will just leave it .. I have the Streak 7 also.
i tried the trick and works perfectly, thanks for sharing it, i was gonna try this trick on my G2 but i sold it to buy the tab, i'm happy with what i have now.

Have you noticed a weaker 3G reception?
I've tried this on my Samsung Vibrant and it seems to have worse 3G reception
(can only get reliable 3G outside of a building structure)
Why in the world would you do this to any other device besides the t-mobile galaxy tab? What did you hope to change?
This is only intended for US t-mobile galaxy tab users who get redirected to at-mobile website instead of having complete access to browsing.
so i should be able to do this on my gsm international galaxy tab? i get redirected when trying to use a data connection via my g2 sim card.
Hi guys
I recently bought factory unlocked uk galaxy tab for my mum!
Everything was working perfectly except that she could not write in a certain language(arabic) nor see connected words while surfing the net. So i had a look at few website and i came a cross a custom rom(arabic) and i downloaded it with Odin3
After successful flash to my tab i was able to use the arabic language and see connected words on the net, but i lost Samsung movies icon or application and samsung games and i cant find it in the android market or samsung store.
Even though its for her and she does not care about movies or games but the tab is acting weird! Freeze very frequently and i need to turn it off every now and then.
My question is how to get back the uk or European version OS to my tab.
Any help is appreciated
firmware from here , bottom of the page you find all the documentation also a video tutorial. hope it helps!
Thanks alot ovigt71
Help needed guys..
anyone encountering unsuccessful download from the web browser?
what were you trying to download actually? downloading from some file hosting sites sometimes is quite a hassle.
i've download stuff from xda, some local forum, it's just ok.
download anything.. pictures, short clip videos, musics,...anything..
That's terrible. What baseband, ever upgraded the rom (stock, etc), was it always like this?
try another browser, like opera, dolphin, skyfire usually works

Please specify the problem a bit more.
If you mean that everything you try to download fail. Tell us if its on wifi, or over 3g if you are on the move (for example car, bus, boat etc) or if you are standing still.
If its over wifi.
Make sure that the wifi don't turn off while the screen goes into idle.
If its over 3G.
Go to a place where you have full reception.
Contact your carrier and complain.
Try another browser.
Try another file.
Ether way please specify the problem as much as you can.
In case you forgot the some what humorus video from when you registered its down "You are a Noob on XDA-Developers "
And in my case. No every thing I ever downloaded so far have been downloaded successfully. Only found a random "rapidshare" copycat not to work.
everything i download from the web browser, from using WIFI to 3G, are unsuccessful. and Im using stock rom with baseband of 20110725.
it occurs only after i upgraded to the new baseband.
I had even factory reset my phone, still unable to download anything successfully.
currently im using opera browser, and able to download everything.
Hey guys,
First of all, sorry but I'm a complete newbie with this phone, however I've tried to do the necessary research and I think i've hit a block. First of all, my phone is a SGH-1747 (from the title) Samsung Galaxy s III 4G LTE or just Samsung Galaxy s III LTE which is network unlocked with original carrier being AT&T. I updated the phone to Jelly Bean 4.1.1 via Samsung Kies and everything went smoothly. It was originally my aunt's and I asked her to ship it to me here in Australia. So my current provider is Vodafone Australia and yes I do have a micro sim and can use the phone for almost everything except for the problem that I'm experiencing.
Okay so firstly I thought my problem was that everything I go on google play store via my mobile data (not WIFI), I was unable to update / download certain apps and it would give me a "package file is invalid" error. I've done researched tried clearing cache, cookies, data but nothing seemed to work. I also thought it might be something to do with only unable to download apps that are a certain size, seeing as I could download SOME smaller apps (like google apps updates, but not all) but it got to the point where I tried accessing apps that require an internet connection, and it won't load because of error "not connected to internet or you might be disconnected". At all times I am able to access the internet via internet browser and even search for apps via google play store. I also thought it might be app-related, so i tried different apps, no bingo. I can however download all these apps / updates when I am connected to WIFI at my house, can even access the games. Also thought it might be related to Vodafone not supporting 4G so I tried to change around the network modes but It didn't really make much of a difference... I've also tried factory resetting many times with no bingo.
So now i'm at the point where I don't know what's wrong with it. Do you guys have any ideas? Even vodafone people were unable to find a solution after spending about an hour trying to fix it with them.
