finally figure out how to do the whole process of installing themes but need to be sure if my galaxy tab is compatible with the overcome theme? this is my tabs info:
PDA: P1000JPJJ1
Phone: P1000JXJJ1
CSC: P1000OJPJJ1
Could anyone please tell me if I am compatible with the overcome ROM and the EXT4 kernel? just don't wanna mess my tab up. thanks
Read this thread --> http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=888071
Look for the bootloader patch and install it. Its a zip file, extract it to get the .apk file. Run it in your phone.
If the app says "you are safe!" , then your tab's compatible with overcome.
Goodluck!

I'm trying to install the DocRambone series on my Samsung Galaxy S, but when I get to HOWTO#1 it says:
"2.Select the PDA/Modem/CSC/.PIT files in Odin. (.PIT and PDA are required. CSC and Modem are HIGHLY recommended. They may be necessary depending on the PDA! Try flashing all three BEFORE reporting bugs, if you only used one initially!)"
Now, the .PIT file I've already found(I chose the 512 since I understand that the 513 is for older versions and 803 is for Froyo). But I don't know where to find the other things, meaning PDA, CSC and Modem? Which ones should if pick(if there is more than one) and why?
If they are on my phone already, how do I mount them in Odin?
My firmware version is
PDA: I9000XWJM2
Phone: I9000XXJM1
CSC: I9000NEEJM1
Thanks alot

Anyone who can help me?
Which Version Froyo? It sounds like you like to flash Froyo..
ok
You must make a Clean Stock Froyo Install.. I think u choose XXJPK take the files at the Tut..! ;D And then you can flash the "Custom Rom" via update.zip
Think thats it is what u mean..
I'm not flashing Froyo, I'm flashing for DocRomboe which is 2.1 (I think?) .. but like I said, the guide sais what I said above.. I need to find PDA, CSC and modem files, because (accordimg to the guide) Odin needs those files.. I'm following the big faq guide, so if anyone could tell me what to do, I'd appreciate it

Oh come on, I really wanna do this soon !!
Read the Docrombone thread again and see what rom it is for. Its a mod. Now go find the rom it wants, something like say JM5 or JM8? do a search and you'll see people link it. Or goto http://www.samfirmware.com/ and make a account to view the firmwares there. I have no idea what rom that mod wants since you are the one wanting to install it
If you are looking for MODEM and CSC files specifically for 2.1, you can pull the ones from Richthofen's post here
-OR-
If you want to maintain your JM1 MODEM/CSC files, like the above poster suggested, visit Samfirmware
Hi
I want to install Tayutama Edition v1.0.2 on my Samsung Galaxy S. I know I need to make Froyo run update.zip files and I have been searching in here and on Google how to do that. But I seem to be out of luck or just stupid cause I really can't find how to do it.
PDA: I9000XXJP2
PHONE: PDA: I9000XXJP2
CSC: PDA: I9000XXJP2
Build Info: 2010.07
TIA

On the rom's page says u need to install clockwork mod which allows you to flash as jpm installs 3e recovery mode that does not allow unsigned undated.zip files. What I found was that you need to install root before you can install clockwork so find a root kernel and flash that right away then do a SD card update with clockworkmod
Sent from my GT-I9000 using Tapatalk
Yes ok. A root kernel can that be any program that gives you root access like OneClickLagFix? I thought all those programs had to be installed by an update.zip install. Or is it something entirely diffrent that I have completely missed out on?
Damn I feel lost. I never had a smartphone before, well my last mobile was a N95-8GB but Symbian v60 sorta ruined the whole smartphone experience and I never got to the point were I messed around with it.
OK I was finally able to ROOT the Phone using "One Click Root/UnRoot I9000". But I still can't install ClockworkMod.
Would it be possible for me to just upload to stock JP6 using Odin and 803.pit? If so should re-partion be checked or not?
I'm so sick and tired of this JP2 version were NOTHING works...
i want to restock my tab to froyo from gingerbread ..as i am not happy with the performance of the gallery and some other apps ..
i am in india.. so can u please provide me stock froyo rom ..and i need help in reverting back ..
thanks in advance
First make a backup of your currently working firmware using ROM manager by CwM and copy all the files to your PC.
Then you need to know what is the model number of your Galaxy Tab. P1000 or other?
Start the phone application on somebody's Tab who has exactly the same Tab what you have and runs on Froyo. Then enter *#1234#. It will give you some data like:
PDA: P1000.....
PHONE: P1000.....
CSC : P1000.....
write it down. I have to mention that the code only returns data if it has the original stock on it and not a custom firmware.
What makes difficult that for Froyo and Gingerbread there are many country and mobile vendor specific versions and you have to find the correct version. Search the net for the correct version. You should find a file for example: P1000XXXXX_P1000XXXXX_P1000XXXXX_HOME.tar (XXXXXX = PDA, PHONE and CSC)
Extract this tar file to a directory on your PC.
Your Tab accepts only those specific files without problem. No other. Put your Galaxy Tab into download mode and install Heimdall driver.
Then start Heimdall Frontend to flash back the files. Load first the PIT file included in the package. Then make sure you put the correct files to the correct places.

An app called QuickPic is a nice alternative to Gallery, which I found is typically very slow & laggy on my devices. QuickPic is pretty snappy although there is a very slight delay in sharpening the pic when you advance to the next photo.
Are you still using a stock kernel? I wonder if you might get better performance using a compatible kernel that has Voodoo lagfix (ie. EXT4 conversion)?
Hello everybody
I have Galaxy Tab 7" GT-P1000 WiFi/3G
Model number:
GT-P1000
Firmware version:
2.2
Baseband version:
P1000JXJM2
Kernal version:
2.6.32.9
[email protected] #1
Build number:
FROYO.JVJM5

As you see it's the old good froyo, but I think it's time for changing
And that's my question, To WHAT ?
First, you have P1000, that means you have phone functionality. Not only wifi/3G.
Second, there are many posts asking theis questions over and over again...
and usually Priyana answers them with the exact answers. So I'm going to borrow his/her answer:
Go to team overcome and follow their installation instruction "From froyo"
http://www.teamovercome.net/
There you will have a choice "GB-Stock-safe" (Gingerbread stock pre-rooted)) and Overcome Rom (Based on GB2.3.6 pre-rooted).
if you want to try the new ics later on, I suggest install gb-stock-safe and continue install the overcome KERNEL only. Don't install Overcome ROM.
The instruction maybe overwhelming and you may get bootloops if you do a wrongthing. So follow it carefully.
G
Thank You
I know that post of teamovercome forum and still have headache from reading it
It's very complicated so I think it's good idea to stay with the Froyo.
I guess sticking to Froyo will work.... but I think there are more apps available if you are on ICS...

I'm a beginner as you was a long time ago.
By the way, does the Kies can update the firmware to some thing else than Froyo ?
I don't think so

Hey man, you need to decide if you want to do more with your g-tab or not.
BUT words of warning: DON'T jump into the swimming pool if you're afraid getting drowned.
I was exactly like you just last year and of course as everyone else here, I started by simply learn how to root my Tab. With froyo, it is as easy as ONE MOUSE CLICK after you downloaded the correct .exe program on your computer.
Most countries already get GB upgrades via Kies ranging from 2.3.3 to 2.3.6. Some unlucky countries stuck in froyo and that's when they come to xda forum to learn new things.
THANKS
My Tab is already rooted.
What you means by " ranging from 2.3.3 to 2.3.6", the kernal version or the firmware version ?
I upgraded once time only using the Kies but it's still Froyo as you see in my post.
You are right abut the swimming therefore I need to prepare myself good enough to start that process.
the best roms!
try these two masterpieces of dizgustipated:
boca msi
or
blindmooke
just go to the respective rom's thread in this section for instructions.
but first, as the posters before me said, you have to follow the instructions in www.overcome.net. when you get to the part of flashing the rom, use the above-mentioned roms instead of overcome.
happy flashing!
Here, a very easy to follow going to Gingerbread stock, follow carefully:
You can download any official firmware at http://fus.nanzen.se/
1a. Download Fus Check Downloader 2.1 from the above site. Using the Fus Check downloader, download a Firmware for your region. It will automatically decode the .enc2 file to.zip file
(For your case choose GT-P1000)
Extract .zip file to get .md5 or .tar
1b. Download Odin3-v1.85
1c. Download this pitfile from following link:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/attachment.php?attachmentid=631856&d=1308653969
1d. Download this dbdata from the following link:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/attachment.php?attachmentid=935230&d=1331091172
2. Start Odin - put the .md5/.tar to PDA
Put the pitfile from step 1b to the PIT
Check re-partition. Leave everything else as is.
3. Go to download mode on the G-tab, connect to ur computer
and click start on Odin. It takes about 6 to 7 minutes to do the flashing.Once done flashing it will reboot but mostlikely you still have problems with your tab.
4. Reboot to download mode again. Reset Odin (make sure re-partition unchecked), put dbdata from step 1c to PDA, leave everything else as is. Reconnect your G-Tab to computer, click start on Odin.
5. When Dbdata is successfully put into your G-tab, reboot to recovery mode, do a factory reset wipe, and data cache wipe.
Reboot system, wait for about 5 minutes for the tab to boot up, you should be all set.
Note: as always, you are responsible for your own device. I'm not responsible if anybody break his/her device following the above instruction.
yappoe, Thank You very much
1- Please check the links for the pitfile and the dbdata file -Error 404 Page Not Found
2- Can I choose another country than the one where the Tab was purchased ?
3- In the zip file there is another file called SS_Dl.dll. What about it ?
Gb has better video player and music player 5.1 . Can play sky go too. Theres lots of ways to get it looking like ics. Whilst still on gb.

Try again.
Yes you can download roms for other countries. People like firmwsre for germany or netherland because they are the latest (2.3.6).
disregard the .dll file.
TNX a lot
Hello all,
first please accept my apology for asking a questions that are probably too easy for most of you but I have spent several hours reading this forum and other sites but still cannot fully understand it, so I would really appreciate if someone could help me.
I have Samsung Galaxy S I9000 phone and would like to use Android 4.2 or higher on it. If I understand well I firstly have to ROOT the device.
First I downloaded the Odin software and then according to all tutorials I should download a CF-Kernel file for my device. And this is where my problems start as I do not know which file should I download or better to say did not find it.
Could you please assist me and help me download the CF Kernel file and guide me through the whole process? Many thanks to anyone who will help me!
My device is:
PDA: I9000XWJW5
PHONE: I9000XDJV1
CSC: I9000XXJVC
Firmware version: 2.3.6
Baseband version: I9000XDJV1

First of all, here is the file: http://download.chainfire.eu/98/CF-Root/SGS/CF-Root-XW_OXX_JV1-v1.3-BusyBox-1.17.1_NO-CWM.zip
1. You know Odin right? Yeah, so I suggest you use Odin 1.87
2. Download the file in the link.
3. Ensure you have the samsung drivers installed
4. Get your phone into Download mode (Volume Down+Home+Power)
5. Now open Odin and you will see a Button named PDA. Click on it and browse to the CF file you downloaded.
6. DO NOT check or uncheck the tickboxes towards the left.
7. That's it! Click on start and it'll do the Magical stuff!
NOTE: This Kernel doesn't include CWM. You will have to flash that manually.
