I recently downgraded my Sprint Tab back to DJ30, EA24 was not as polished.. now I'm being nagged about updating my software. I tried renaming the otacert file but it still downloads the update. Suggestions?

I just got a notification from my phone that there was an update available (the supposed GPS fix).
So I let it download and install the update. It rebooted to a white screen with a progress bar. Once it hit 100% it said "Update is failed". Then when it booted up it's back at the device management screen an it says "The update was not completed. No update is applied to your phone."
Under settings it says baseband version is now JH7, but I dont think it is because USB tethering is still in there, I read where that was taken out some time ago. How can I tell if the update really installed?
If it didnt install, why didnt it? Was it because I was rooted? Do we have to be at completely stock JF6 to get the update?
I had my phone mostly stock, all I had done was:
rooted, modded settings.db for non-market apps, installed circle battery meter, installed mobile wifi AP.
Any clues?
Having the same issue. I'm not really sure what to make of it.

I tried and tried to get the update to work, it kept crapping out on me. so finally I gave up and just went and got designgears version OTA-JH7.zip and loaded it through clockwork recovery. It seems to be the full update and its stable, unlike after the failed 100% OTA update.
I love the Engrish used, lol. They couldn't even put "Update failed" or "Update is failing"

Is it safe to keep up date if I'm rooted?

Do you lose root buy applying that update and is there a simple way of disabling the stock "System Updater"? (regarding designgears version OTA-JH7.zip) question is for derek4484 thx
Hello everyone,
Since Enomther's ROM thread is closed I would like to ask you a question about this beautiful ROM.
Since yesterday I'm receiving update system notification ( I own a Nexus One, so I suppose is Gingerbread update via OTA )
Well, this shouldn't happen, isn't it? I noticed that I have FOTA killer, so that should do the job, but still I'm receiving update system notifications...
Has anyone the same problem? Is there a way to disable the system update notifications?
I just flashed again the FOTAKiller-signed.zip in order to disable them, but I'm still receiving notifications...
Help please
You can disable it by updating your build.prop
Hi,
Also getting the OTA 2.3.4 update notification.
I am running Enomther 2.14.4 and have applied a patch to remove the OTA notification of the previous 2.3.3 update.
How to remove the 2.3.4 OTA notification?
please could you download it while running logcat and let the installation fail in recovery before disabling it? people are looking for the link to the OTA
FOTAKill.zip and then attempt to install the update. It'll reboot to custom recovery and stay there. Just don't do anything with it, reboot back, and the update notification should be gone.
Not to hijack. I am running cm6 and upgrade my h-boot. When I restarted the phone it ask me to update to gingerbread 2.3.3. However u still like running cm6. But it keeps asking me to update. I still not clear how to get rid of this message. Any suggeston?

I have downloaded GAPPS and installed the FOTAKill apk, however the update notification still keeps popping up.

I am having the same issue and have tried the above solution. I have also allowed the installation to fail and restart. The OTA update notification still comes back. Any solutions?
Thanks!
Make sure that fotakill is installed to internal memory. If it is installed on the sdcard, it probably won't work.

Odd, I installed it, removed the update in /cache, rebooted, haven't seen the notification since.
My phone downloaded the 4.0.4 OTA and I don't want to install the update cuz I want to keep root. Now it keeps reminding me every freaking hour or three. How do I delete the OTA?

usually you can find that downloaded update under the /CacheFolder....
if by any chance you open that folder and you see nothing, then good.. that means the download OTA update was not successfuly saved to your phone. Just erase that folder and you should be good after that. (use Root Explorer to really view the file inside the folder).
Regarding stopping the popup updates, you can stop that by using a tasker app that force stop the 'Software update' process (from always popping on your phone.) Or the alternate way also would be to use Titanium backup and freeze the 'Software update' process.
Cheers!
you keep root in almost all ota cases

There is nothing to worry about root. You will retain root. Howevr if you get partial root after OTA update just download busybox from market and install it.
You can always avoid reminders about OTA using Titanium Backup. Select the OTA and freeze it. Gone for life till you have Titanium Backup installed. lol
Cheers!!!
I currently have NB4. I do not want to lose root.
AT&T keeps trying to download and install update even though I have set no security update in settings. Is there a way to block this? Perhaps Greenify the update process?? Thx.
Use titanium backup or root app delete to freeze the att update app

uggh.. wtf Samsung.
The error message actually says to try updating Via Kies. I installed Kies and plug the watch into the computer and it says the firmware is already up to date. I wonder if the update being pushed is not correct or something.
No Root Access
After installing update it fails root permissions. Going back to MK7. New firmware is nothing special fyi.
OK, well I got it to install using Samsung Kies from the computer
My Gear got a new update this mornig and the install was clean with no problems.
No issue with install XEF-V700XXUBNC1
I suspect this is just to add support for the S5 since it is releasing the day after tomorrow.
