Steps to move from RFS to EXT4

Hi,
need steps to change rfs to ext4? And does it require data wipe?
I am on SGS I9000 + 2.3.5 stock jvt
Regards.
No data wipe required, flash a kernel with ext4 included, boot into recovery and apply lagfix. Be sure to remove lagfix before flashing another rom in cwm.
Some kernels will require chainfires ext4 tools application.
Go to develop section and have a read up.
no data wipe but for security just make a backup coz sometime it hangs but not everytime.....just convert ur partition.

Now you are on stock ROM. To convert rfs to ext4 either you have to install a kernel that support ext4 and then go to recovery and then enable lagfix. Or you can go for a custom rom. My advice is to go for custom ROM like Darky...

help KK4 Samurai kernel

I flash samurai kk4 kernel v1.4.3 and now phone wont boot past att screen..it will boot to recovery.....but it has all kind of mounting errors...it wont mount any partition..am i screwed and need to odin back to stock?
What kernel where you using before hand? Where you on EXT4 before?
seems like a file system problem, as PR said. going from ext4 back to the samsung proprietary filesystem causes the mounting errors because its not formatted like the kernel expects. im not sure if going from the samsung fs to ext4 causes this (i assume it would without formatting), but i know ext4 to samsung does.

[Q] Does ACE support ext2?

Hello,
I want to know whether the original ROM for ACE support ext2, ext3, and ext4 filesystems. I have partitioned my sdcard in 3 partitions one is FAT32 and the others two are ext.
Thanks.
ext2, yes. its supported even on stock samsung rom with stock kernel.
ext3 and ext4 no, need custom kernel.

Thanks I will check it.
Just installed EXT2 for Link2SD on a Samsung Ace stockrom 2.3.5. This works.:good: First tried EXT3, didn't seem to work.
Stock rom plus stock kernel supports ext2 but stock rom with stock kernl doesnt support ext4 or 3
I would recommend you to flash nims kernel and use ext4 type and use ext4 tweak by mr slaid to improve performance
Give it a shot

The kernel needs to support ext4. The stock kernel does not, so if you want to use ext4 you also need to flash a custom kernel.
