Is there anyway to just disable the AWD Launch? It drains the life out of my battery but I'd like to keep the feature and be able to use it once in awhile.

You mean ADW?
Okay, here's how:
1. Download "Home Switcher for Froyo" from the market.
2. Launch it, and launch, "Samsung Home"
3. Go to the app again, and select, "Default" for Samsung Home

I really like the "Program Monitor" that comes stock with TouchWiz but I see it's nowhere to be found on CM7. Is there any way to install it on CM7 or what would be a good alternative, just Advanced Task Killer?
Go to Settings, got to applications, running services you can kill them from here and also you can make a shortcut to your home screens by making a custom shortcut. And also read this and take it into consideration... http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=904023
Why do you want a task killer? 9/10 times they slow your phone down and kill the battery. Linux, not iphone or windows. Do a search, you will find plenty of explanations.

this is one of the best features of CM7..
Go into settings> applications> development> check the box "stop app via long press back button"
Its sweet. Kills all your tasks with a simple long-press of the back button. I love it
Just picked up the HTC One last week. I'm more of an iOS guy, so I'm not very familiar with the Android platform. I bought the dev edition because I needed an unlocked phone and I figured 64GB would be more useful (since my iPhone is practically full all the time with 64GB); also I didn't want any of the AT&T apps.
Anyways, on the home screen there are the 4 applications (phone, messages, browser, camera); can I replace any of those apps with something else? For example, I use Chrome instead of the default browser app. I haven't figured this out.
The next issue is, can I remove the live feed screen? I'm traveling in China, where [China Mobile] only has Edge (and FB, Twitter, etc. are blocked), so it makes that screen pretty useless.
Finally, I don't have any performance issues, but I noticed in the apps section in Settings where it shows running apps, it says I only have 1.5GB of total RAM; is this normal? (For example, right now it's say — RAM 511Mb/1.5GB)
TIA

I think you cant disable blinkfeed but you can tell it not to update automatically
If you want to change the default 4 icon on the dock, simply hold and drag any app in to replace them
Yes your ram is normal, that's alot of free ram, and also app you dont use they just freeze in the background, unless they sometimes auto sync/ auto update, which is also normal. no worries
To remove apps from the bar you need to open the app drawer, then press and hold the icon you want to remove and drag it into the app drawer. Then do the reverse to put them back on the bar.
As for the home screen Blinkfeed can't be disabled but you can make a different screen as the home screen. To do this press and hold on one of the screens as if you were adding a widget, you can then select the default home screen from the top.
The memory in the phone is 2 gig but I believe some space is reserved for the Android system.

Thanks for answering…
I don't see an option to disable updates altogether, but it does let me set it to update only over WiFi.
As the dock, thanks for that, but the issue is when I drag an app in into the dock, it creates a folder, when I drag the app I don't want out, it creates a shortcut instead of clearing it from the dock.
For the RAM, I know I have a lot of free RAM, but the issue is the phone is suppose to have 2GB of total RAM right? So why does it say only 1.5GB total in the app manager in settings?

So I need to be in app drawer to add/remove apps from the dock, not the home screen? I think that's what I've been missing.
I have now selected a new home screen. That's a good start.
Yeah I hope I haven't been shafted with the RAM issue.
GPU uses that same RAM and that part is not visible for apps of course.
Ram is reserved for gpu.

Only way to remove blinkfeed is by using a launcher I think

If you want to get rid of blink feed use something like Nova or Apex Launcher. Both can be customised to your liking, both are fast and memory efficient. You can add gestures to the screen and change swipe animations and lots more. Give them a look

Excellent. Using Nova launcher did exactly what I wanted.
Can I disable HTC Sense? Or do I have to use Sense to get to my new launcher?
(Totally irrelevant, but this 5 minute limit also extends to editing one's post—which is silly)

I haven't used a HTC device since the HD2. The stock HTC launcher can be disabled. Might need root or you could close it if its still in ram. Shouldn't start up till you decide to switch launchers.
I'm looking for a NST-compatible task switcher.
The best i could find is this Task Switcher, but apparently the latest version is not listing all the active apps...
EDIT: i've found Smart Task Switcher which seems ok.

Yeah, Smart Task Switcher seems to be the only task switcher that both looks decent and is compatible with the Nook, so most likely it's the best you're going to get. Thankfully, it is very nice, has plenty of features, and works exactly like it's supposed to - when I used it for a while, I actually uninstalled my ADW Launcher, because I didn't even need a homescreen anymore!
All in all, Smart Task Switcher is the best choice IMO. :good:
Button Savior does that as well as many other things.

Yes, it's a good app - the only problem with it in this sense is that to launch an app from it (by long-pressing Home), you have to have launched the app already from an alternate home launcher, making it not specifically ideal for a good task switcher.

Once you have it installed you can go into the settings and have it start automatically at boot, easily adjust the contrast and opacity plus the location on screen so it's very unobtrusive in day to day usage.

Yeah, I know - I used Button Savior for about a year, so I know my way around it. I don't have it installed anymore because I can use NTMM to assign everything I used in Button Savior to the physical buttons, eliminating the need for another key set.
But, I digress. In my opinion, all in all, it's a very nice app, but for purely a task switcher, it's not ideal.

Don't long press an app icon. I only see that if I long press an icon. Otherwise from playing around with settings I have not come across any way to disable it.

You can install an alternative Home launcher, such as APEX launcher, or NOVA launcher. Both support home screen layout importing, so you don't have to re-arrange apps the way you have them. Widgets will need to be re-made though.
There are more settings available on these apps and you can easily set them both up to look like the stock launcher, or you can set it up how you prefer. I used to use APEX but no longer find the need for it myself.
Hey guys,
So I just got myself a Vivo X Fold and I'm loving it. The OS feels so good but I was wondering if there was a way to change the icons ? Or even the launcher ? I can install other launchers but somehow can't find a way to set it to default. When I go back home it's still the stock launcher. I wouldn't mind it if I could change the icons but yeah.
Any help would be appreciated !
Thanks and have a nice day.
no and no.. no need to thank me, follow me for more tips.
This option only appears if you have created and signed into your Vivo account:
Go to Settings / Privacy / More Security Settings and toggle "allow alternative launcher". Make sure you go into the privileges for the new launcher and set it to autostart and go into battery and set it for high battery usage.
Hi, i just tried to do that with the launcher, what frcraig said, and it still goes back to the factory launcher. I created vivo account, logged in, allowed alternative launcher, set nova as default launcher and applied the battery savings settings, autostart, etc. Any other ideas?
actually i just went back in and unselected tap the home button to lock the system home screen and now it works!

Thanks a lot, it worked ! I can finally change my icons and launcher !
What alternative launchers out there support two separate screen layouts?
Or... like the stock Vivo launcher, show only one-half of the unfolded screen on the external one.

If I'm not mistaken the same place where the option to allow the launcher to be replaced is. It appears after you enable the first one.

Did you find an alternative? I'd really love to change the icons on mine.

Total Launcher is a good choice. Supports two separate home screens and you can customize everything...
