I flashed the HTC rom on my tilt a few days ago. Everything seems to work fine except that when I open a webpage (using Pocket IE), the 3G icon on the top changes to H. (What is H anyways?)
Other apps that require(?) 3G like Streaming media player and Messaging cannot connect at all. They try to connect to 3G, cycle thru the connection attempt twice and give up. But they work fine if I'm on wifi.
Are there any settings that I'm supposed to put in the Tilt?
I've tried searching on the forums but have been unsuccessful so far. If anyone can help me that would be awesome. Or point out keywords that I should use to search the forum, that would be great too.
Thanks.
Go to 'Settings' 'Connections' 'HSDPA' and uncheck the box.
BTW its High Speed Downlink Packet Access and you may need to subscribe from your carrier network for connection.
Thanks for the lightening fast reply. It got rid of the H icon. But streaming media still doesnt work.
When trying to open a youtube video, for example, it tries to connect to something, but fails eventually. I'll post some screenshots soon.
Do I need to change any settings in windows media player?
What branded phone were you using because you may have removed vital streaming SW required by your carrier.
AT&T Tilt aka Kaiser
I flashed it with the HTC rom from this forum.
Have a look at your programs and see if Flash Player is installed. If not, search the Forum for the cab (its in Dutty's thread in this forum flashlite) and install it. That may solve your problem.
The flash player is installed. As I can view the same streams if I use wifi.
But if I disable wifi, then the webpages open up, but no streaming media opens up.
Also, using Messaging, hotmail is able to download my mails on 3G, but not other accounts (ex. gmail IMAP). But everything works on wifi.
Sorry to be a pain in the ass, but I'm willing to search the forums if someone can point out the keywords to look for. I'm really clueless at this point.
Then look for the AT&T operator settings needed after flashing. If all is working on WiFi then that is definately your problem.
Thanks. I know its a problem on my end. But I don't know where to look for settings. I'm very new to this windows mobile world.
I'll search the forum now for AT&T settings and will get back.
Thanks a lot again for your help!
Damn... not sure where the info is. Can someone please point me in the right direction?
Here, try this.

Better still, found you this.

You owe me a beer next time you are in Abu Dhabi.
I just tried the AT&T instructions and it screwed my IE connection. Every page load gave me an error. I reverted back to the original settings.
As for streaming videos, I managed to change the settings to use Media Net and it seems to work.
Still cant figure out how to do that with Messaging.
p.s.... trying the cab you just posted.
Okay, I tried that cab, and it still doesn't let me use any other email account in messaging. Here are the screen shots.
As you can see from the images, Windows Live (hotmail) email downloads just fine. But when I change the email to Gmail from the dropdown, and press Send/Receive, it fails to connect. What are the differences in the connections between the two.
By the way, sorry for the 90 degrees rotated images. It didn't let me upload images with heights more than 280. Weird
p.s. Farsquidge, I still owe you a beer

Wait, explain why you want to get rid of the "H"? H is HSDPA, which is the fastest 3G connection.
G = GPRS (slow)
E = Edge (faster than GPRS, but stil slow)
3G = UMTS (3G, fast)
H = HSDPA (3G+, fastest connection)
Assuming you have HSDPA in your region (which if it showed H means you do), you would normally want HSDPA. It provides speeds greater than 1Mbit/sec.
I've enabled it back. Thanks for the clarification.
Try using the Network settings wizard then do a soft reset to apply them.
Go through the AT&T settings page on the link to see they match and adjust them accordingly if not.
Then you will most likey have to go to the other setup pages on AT&T's site for email and MMS setup as you have lost all with the flash.
I tried the Network settings wizard. Didn't change anything.
Tried the AT&T settings page. It screwed up even more and I couldnt even browse web pages. So I reverted back to original settings.
I've managed to fix the streaming media player by making it use Media Net. As for Messaging, I'll have to look into AT&Ts setting for MMS. Will keep you guys posted.
p.s. You guys are amazing. Thanks for all the help!
If you look, a new version of Network settings wizard has been posted to this forum today.
Aah.. thanks, I found it. I'll try that in the evening when I get home and let you know.
Hi there
I have read lots of posts on how to enable GPS Photo feature on the kaiser but mine came with it on already. I seem to be having problems exporting these pictures from the phone with the geo data in the Exif tags. I usually just drag them over using the USB connection but when I check them on the PC the GPS data isn't there. I don't know if it is being stripped or just not being attached to the photo. The GPS light is on and the green symbol light up on the screen when I take the pictures.
Does anyone else have the same problem?
The EXIF data should have that. COuld it be the program you are using to read the EXIF data doesn't understand or show the GPS info (or is it just dumping it).
I haven't played with the GPS photo much, but I did find that Picasaweb properly handles GPS EXIF tags now. I use a free program called Shozu (Shozu.com) that after you take a pic will upload your pic to the web, send it via email, post it in blog, etc.. I have it setup to send mine to Picasaweb, and after turning on the EXIF processing in Picasaweb on my account, my pics show the GPS info.
So make sure you are on teh GPS Photo setting of the Camera software (you won't get GPS tags in any other format), then maybe try uploading the pics to Picasaweb (you can create a free account at picasaweb.google.com). If you try this, remember to turn on the EXIF settings first.
Thanks mfrazzz
Since posting this I have checked the photos generated by the kaiser using Exif Reader (which is really neat by the way, no installation needed and tells you just what you need). There is GPS data there:
GPS Informtion
GPSVersionID : 2,2,0,0
GPSLatitudeRef : S
GPSLatitude : 32 3XX6 [DMS]
GPSLongitudeRef : E
GPSLongitude : 151 XX31 [DMS]
GPSAltitudeRef : Sea level
GPSAltitude : 0/1 meters
GPSTimeStamp : 02:01:28
GPSMapDatum : WGS-84
GPSProcessingMethod : HYBRID-FIX
GPSDateStamp : 2007:12:09
The problem I am having is reading that data in Picasa on the PC, or on the web. I copy the images from my Phone over the USB to my desktop and check the Exif data, all appears good. When I drag the pictures into Picasa from the desktop and right click on properties there is no geo data there. I wonder if there is some intermittent problem as this technique has worked a few times in the past.
A picture that did import correctly has different Exif data to the one above:
GPS Informtion
GPSVersionID : 0,0,2,2
GPSLatitudeRef : S
GPSLatitude : 32 4XX0 [DMS]
GPSLongitudeRef : E
GPSLongitude : 151 1XX7 [DMS]
GPSAltitudeRef : Sea level
GPSAltitude : 0/1 meters
Quite a bit missing, interesting.
Update
Just found this on the picasa forum, and sure enough it works
"http://www.gpspassion.com/forumsen/topic.asp?TOPIC_ID=75179
I have fixed some of my photos using exiftool (http://
www.sno.phy.queensu.ca/~phil/exiftool/):
exiftool <foldername> -r -GPSVersionID=2.2.0.0
Where <foldername> is the folder where the affected photo files are,
not that this command will set GPSVersionID to 2.2.0.0 for ALL files
within the folder specified in <foldername> recursevly (that means
includding all subfolders within the <foldername>). Having a backup is
recommended. After running that, all of my pics showed up in Picasa
just fine."
The odd thing is that the GPSVersionID tag already seems to be 2.2.0.0 in the images created by the kaiser. Perhaps there is a space at the end??
I've been messing with the GPS Photo function and I'm trying it with Picasaweb and Shozu as mentioned above. I took 5 photos this weekend. The first was just testing, the other 4 were at the park with my family. Between taking the first and the other 4, I changed the camera setting to show the timestamp when the photo was taken. Today I installed Shozu and uploaded all five pics - only the first pic contains any GPS data that Picasaweb has managed to interpret. The last 4 show as blank.
Do you guys have the timestamp set to be shown on the picture? I'm just trying to figure out what might have affected it. The file location is the same, as is the resolution.
I'll try another pic tonight and let you know.

No, I haven't ever turned that on. I also seem to get the same random luck when importing the photos with the GPS Exif data. I think this is more of a problem with Picasa as the pictures I take do have the geo data attached. It might be a simple string mismatch. I guess looking at the Exif protocol would be the next step. Checking the images that do work against the ones that don't so far hasn't thrown much light on it for me.
If I get time I will do some more work on it today.
Hello everybody. Can someone help me please.I am trying to open jpeg files and my phone says that it cannot open them because "either it is not signed with a trusted certificate,or one of it's components cannot be found"
A trusted certificate? On a jpeg file? All my programs work great but I cannot open any pictures using ANY program...What suddenly happened and can I do anything about it?
Thank you

When in doubt, hard reset. That should not be an issue unless something was corrupted. Did you install a program that might be set to view picture files? What ROM do you have? More info would be nice. When you post on this forum try to include as much detail as possible. I.e. in your signature like mine.
When I use WIFI download the googlemap, it downloads 8K, then It shows "program requires a data connection error,Error: wininetReadError ", after I press the Retry button, It will download 8K again, then again and again, but I use the WIFI open the IE and Opera, both are OK,
Does anybody know how to reslove the issure?
Who can help me ???
