Can't factory reset - Galaxy Tab Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I just tried to do the factory reset as well as wipe data and reset and my Tab now says "can't mount /dev/block/mmcblk0p3" and "can't mount :HIDDENSDCARD" Any idea why that would happen? My Tab was a US Cellular that I flashed to stock VZW and I still can't get the update to work.
Thanks in advance!

As an update, my Tab also said my storage wasn't prepared, so I reformatted the SD card and I'm still getting the same error.

[HELP] i9000m crashed. Cant see sd card anymore

This happened to two of my friends recently. While normal use their i9000m froze and became unresponsive.
For one of them, after a battery pull it rebooted and stayed on a black screen. After a couple more pulls it booted into the homescreen, all his apps and data were missing. Internal SD shows as not mounted. He put in a different 4gb into the external slot and the phone formatted it (no longer works on windows now), but still doesnt show up on the settings page.
He has limited voice/text, but data and the android market doesnt work. None of his apps are there (I guess since the internal SD isnt mounting).
Any ideas on how to fix this? He was/is running JG9 with no lagfix
Dead corrupted internal memory.. needs to go to repair. No way out, I'm in the same boat...
Try a factory reset from the recovery mode screen. You will lose all your data but it might work. It worked for me. Good luck.

[Q] Factory reset - freezing and failing?

I'm trying to do a factory reset on my 8GB Nexus 7. It was rooted and unlocked on stock 4.2.1 with stock bootloader/recovery. When I boot into recovery, hold power and tap volume up, I get the menu and pick factory data reset, then select Yes to start the wipe. It then starts to show Formatting /data... and does nothing. I've let it sit for an hour; no change. I've tried temporarily booting TWRP and wiping data that way...same thing - say's it's wiping, but left it for over an hour and it appears to make no progress.
Next Steps? I've tried doing the fastboot flash commands to restore stock but still run into the reason for the factory reset - I'm getting the "enter your password to decrypt" message but none of my passwords are working; apparently factory reset is only way to fix.
go to the main device settings, backup and reset, then press factory data reset.

Try using a tool to wipe your tablet.

Can't get into the device settings, hence the attempt to wipe data in recovery.

Have a tool suggestion? Whether I follow the fastboot guide to restoring to stock or use a tool, I still receive the "Enter password to decrypt storage" message; only way around that is to do a factory reset. I haven't seen any tools that allow me to do a factory reset.

[Q] Nexus 7 was working, now stuck in bootloop

I had rooted my Nexus 7 a few weeks ago. It was working great. This morning I was using it, the screen locked, when it came back I had no home, back or switch app buttons on the bottom. I thought that was odd, so I restarted. Now I can't get past the X screen. I've let it run for over 30 minutes and it still won't boot. I went into recovery and wiped cache and dalvik cache. I'd like to try to attach it so I can pull data off my sd card, but I can't get the pc to recognize it as a hard drive. Any suggestions? I'd like to back up what I have on the data portion of the drive just in case it wipes when I flash a new rom to it... other problem is that if I can't get it to be recognized as a device, I won't be able to put the new rom onto the device. Should I just factory reset?
Thanks for your help!
I was able to get adb pull to work and I'm currently backing up my data from there. I hope a factory reset/flash a new rom will fix it. I'll post what I find out. I really wonder what caused the bootloop.

A factory reset alone should fix it.

Unfortunately, the factory reset didn't help. I ended up using adb pull to copy my data to my computer and then I had to flash a rom over it. I even had to sideload the rom as I couldn't find the zip on the "sdcard" area. It was pretty well borked.
On a plus side, I'm running CM now!

wiping doesn't remove data. why??

I'm on rocket Rom reloaded
My phone has become slow over time and I would like to factory reset it . I tried doing all the wipes but the data from the apps still remains on my internal memory.
How do I completely wipe my phone??
Just format your data in cwm. If it doesn't work, maybe you have a broken cwm.
Sent from note, a phone like never before

I had this a lot and gave up wiping internal from recovery, it never worked properly. Never asked if anyone else had successfully done it. I just mount the internal to PC, select all and delete, easiest way to ensure properly wiped.

Hard Reset and Format?

I was just wondering what is the difference between a hard reset from the recovery mode (volume up, power, and home) and a format (from wipe in ss)?
A hard reset is just that. A reset.
A wipe is a wipe.
Guess what one you will not get to boot.

Ok maybe my question is too general. See i'm very new to this whole root, rom, ss scene. I'm trying to understand something here. As I know that when you do a hard reset it will put your phone back to the factory state as when you first got the phone. Thus all the apps and everything you install on your phone will be gone. But what happens to the files from root, safestrap, busybox and such that was installed to the phone? Will those files be deleted too?
Normally... Yes they will be deleted.
But it isn't hard to re-root.

If you do a factory reset from the GUI it will do everything recovery does plus format any secure stuff off your SD card that you won't be able to use anymore after you do a reset (such as app data). Of course it can be restored with TB. If you do a wipe from the recovery menu it's faster, but you should probably manually delete that secure folder off your SD card on boot. If you start having problems or conflicts that might be why.
