Hi guys, any idea how to check my HTC IS is manufactured under/for what region?
After checking the phone's info with Quadrant Standard, found it showing ~615mb of Total memory instead of ~768mb.
If you have quadrant benchmark on your phone you can run the app and click on system information and it should tell you everything. You can get quadrant benchmark for free in the android market.

Hmm, doesn't show me what region my device was originally made for. However it shows that my IS only has ~615mb total memory?

After you click on quadrant app it should bring you to a screen. There you will have 5 options. Run Full Bench Mark, Run Custom Benchmark, Result Browser, System Information , and About. Click on System Information. Go down to the section that says Device. There should be a break down for Model, Product, Brand, Etc.....Under Brand it should say something like htc_asia_vivo (I have an Asia region Incredible S)
The model numbers I'm aware of are:
S710a = North America
S710e = Europe
This should be listed on the box.

look at the software number... example 1.36.405.1
take note at the three digit number... that shows the region...
my way to know is just google 1.36.405.1 htc.com you will see the htc.com page for support... you can see what region on the htc site your set is
i will compile all n edit this post when i have the time...
so far as i know
405 = europe
707 = south east asia
720 = india
669 = sasktel canada (telco bonded)
415 = ARA (telco bonded)
980 = Australia Optus (telco bonded)
981 = Australia Virgin (telco bonded)
I belive the rest of the memory is locked for the adreno 205 gpu ... We need to find a way to unlock it if u want the full memory freely ..

Weird. I have 405 and no update. Maybe its a UK model, but its unlocked.

Doesn't Malaysia uses the same 3G frequencies as Europe?
666 = bell canada
708 - Hong Kong
I don't know whether it's the same in Taiwan though...

But if that's the case then it explains why I got S710e.

I bought mine SIM-free from Hong Kong (I'm in the UK) and it had a 'My M1' app pre-installed, along with a couple of others.
Same here using starhub, and I have the m1. Can't seem to uninstall it too.

Interesting! So it seems like M1 is one of the main suppliers in Singapore(/SEA???). Will call up Starhub in the day and ask. I want that app removed =3=
what is this M1 thing anyways ? I got it on my phone too.
same here. singtel user. after i flash it to GB its gone
I got my phone from Singapore (gift from my dad for my b-day). It came with Starhub and M1 apps preinstalled. I live in Bulgaria, Europe and I do not care for both those apps. I just my IS to get updated to GB already. It's branded: htc_asia_wwe and I can't seem to find a way to update it ...

Hello everyone,
I have just bought a Xperia Z from Virgin mobile, and it's a very impressive smartphone.
As I am noob to android after years spent to help the apple growing, and noob to branded phones I would need some expertise.
When I remember branded phones few years back, there were some start up or shut off screens or Icons from the network providers.But as far as I can see there no sign of virgin mobile.
So I would like to know if the branding is more subbtle nowadays or if it has no branding at all?
Is there a way I can know (like firmware revision or serial or applications or anything) if my phone is really not branded.
Thanks in advance for your time.
Dial *#*#7378423#*#*and check software info if it's global or branded.

Well it depends with different telcos. Here in Ausstralia the XZ from Telstra has the Telstra splashscreen and some Telstra apps installed. But with the XZ from Optus it's more subtle. It has no splashscreen and Optus apps (hyperlinks) can be uninstalled/removed.

Hello everyone,
I am not able to try your solution yet cause my network will be effective in one week or less only. And I can try it with other network yet.
So I'll keep you posted in a few days.
Thanks for your quick answers!
Global For the win!
Finally I have used the code *#*#7378423#*#* and my phone appears to be a global one.
Under File System Version in the software info menu it is written:
GLOBAL-LTE_10.1.A.1.434
So It's enough to tell that I got a unbranded phone?

Isn't that what super cid is for?
While that would change certain aspects of the device it will not magically get u to connect to a band that the sprint variant doesn't support

Is the snapdragon 800 going to allow us to have CDMA world phones? I read it somewhere.
It would be cool if we could have identical hardware for all carriers, including CDMA.
This is a world phone. Just that they only put the gsm antennas for talk and 3g since that's really all u need when traveling for abit. If ur referring to using cdma else where then that's useless since the US is really the only place that uses cdma

Good afternoon , and sorry for my poor english .They offered me a reasonable price online for a used nexus 6 ,here in South America , but the person, who is trustworthy, dont know much about tech, and he receive it as a gift ,doesnt know wich model is ( 1103 or 1100) .I asked him to run CPUZ but in "system " only appears ;Nexus 6 " Shamus " ,instead the model number and "kernel version 3.10.40 - geec2459 ( 1743759 ) LYMY47D build id . I need to know because in my country LTE 4g is supported in devices with band 4 aws. enabled only (Xt1103).I was reading in another topic aboout enabling aditional lte bands for either 1100 an 1103 but is too complicated for me.I never flashed even a custom rom
Any tips? thanks in advance!
Boot into bootloader. It says there. Turn off phone. Hold volume down and press power.
Thank you very much for your answer,so "kernel version 3.10.40 - geec2459 ( 1743759 ) LYMY47D build id is not relevant to differentiate between the two models.? apologies for my ignorance.

The problem could be that there is no warranty, because there is no official bill.
The risk is only the money and equal to 'reasonable price'
For flashing, rooting etc., you will find here information and experts that could help you.
Think also at buying a new N6.
Hi all, i just bought a second hand note 5. Here are the problems.
S pen does not click out and have to you use your nail.
Google apps error while retrieving information from server. (RH-01)
Downloaded antutu benchmark 5.7.5 apk and showed a score of 18000!
Startup of phone shows jelly beans going into a jar and no mention of samsung. Did he install custom rom?
Is there a test to see if its fake?
Please help. Thanks
It can be the s pen broken
It can be a custom rom
It can be fake

I mean fake ones wouldnt be QHD, would be very slow, low benchmark obviously and it should never be able to run jelly bean.. if you go to about phone, you'll see software info, status, battery info, they should have N920 in them (specially baseband). Download an app like hardware info for more information about the device. But from what you described, it looks to be fake.

Fake IMEI number, Fake serial number.
The baseband leads to a website called 'CloneROM' which doesn't seem promising either.
You have a fake phone.

Changing the IMEI and serial number will be dependent on the hardware, a custom ROM will not change those.

I can't answer that question since that isn't my expertise. I would advise you to contact the seller of the phone and file a complaint.

You will obviously state what issues you have with the device.
That the device is fake.
It's certainly 100% fake. The site for CloneRom seems to be made for Chinese fake phone makers, What they all have in common is they use a octocore MediaTek (Which Samsung would NEVER use)
https://www.clonerom.com/category/galaxy-note-5
Also if you look at the base band date, it's from 2014. The Note 5 was officially released in Aug or so 2015 which is a dead give away it's fake. Also the IMEI is fake and could actually be blocked by carrier as there could be duplicates with that IMEI so they'll just block the phone so it doesn't take down the network. Each IMEI needs to be UNIQUE.
Go get your money back ASAP and buy a REAL Note 5 or Galaxy S7
Tell the guy you checked out the CPU, It's not meant to be a MediaTek (Only Exynos).
It's Running Kitkat instead of Lollipop.
It's got a bad Serial number and also bad IEMI (which is the worst thing)
stab him :| (after you take your money back)
end of the story
