After unlocking bootloader, I have a status below:
BOOTLOADER: YOU ARE SAFE
Signed: kernel
Not signed: PBL,SBL,SBL_Backup
Assessment: Can flash anything
I'm wondering that is it possible to flash Rom Overcome 1.6.4 and the kernel follows the Overcome's guide?
Thanks in advance.
KHOA
Yes, ure ok to flash

As it says on the OP of the Rom:
Installation:
Rom No Wipe. Flash via CWM JUST after flashing new boot http://www.multiupload.nl/PXXEHFT21J
after as always:
So i suppose that before flashing Alba you have to flash the new bootloade again.
That what i would do just to be sure!
Hope that helped bro!
I am extracting this specific question from my other thread at http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1855867&referrerid=1918103
1. how can I tell exactly what kernel I am running? does any part of the code "-N7000XXKK9-CL725676 [email protected]#2"
translate into one of the kernel names that is being tossed about here? (speedmod, abyss et al)
2. and wanting to follow flashing instructions (from 2.36 to stock current ics) to a "t", can I flash any recommended kernel over the one I currently have (see above, which is also no longer stock since I already flashed that but forgot its moniker, btw rooted phone) or is there a one-way caveat?
voila, dumb questions I suppose but at least I hope they're precise;
thx

Go to phone setting, about phone, and then you will see kernel version, the last three letters is the kernel your device is running. For example if it is ics kernel lq3 then it is compatible with cf root 5.6 lq3, if you want to root your phone with CWM recovery. For ics you can use custom kernel regardless what version of kernel it is, meaning it is compatible to any kernel version if it is a custom kernel, by flasing a custom kernel using the pc odin you will root your phone and get CWM recovery also at the same time safe from so called ICS SUPER BRICK BUG.

thanks.
could you address my question if the kernel KK9 (shich appears on my settings readout) translates to any of the known kernels ie abyss, speedmod or other?
can I keep this very kernel (N7000XXKK9-CL725676 [email protected]#2) and flash a custom ICS via CVM recovery?

KK9 is a gb rom and has a stock gb kernel. Abyss is a gb custom kernel. Speedmod is a custom kernel also. To get a custom kernel must flash first in pc odin.
To root and get CWM recovery read this. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1329360
Yes you can flash custom ics rom over it using the CWM recovery, pls read the op in the custom rom for the procedure before flashing any custom rom. By flashing a custom ics rom you will get ics kernel, you will not retain the kk9 which is a gb kernel.
Hi guys,
I am about to flash the Ultimate_N7000_XXLS7_JellyBean_4.1.2_v4 rom. What safe kernel + cwmr *zip file from http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1329360 should I download and flash given this system information?

N7000XXLRB
Kernel Version
3.0.15-N7000XXLRI-CL811902

Hi!
You have the exact same system information as me, so I am just wondering if you could give me a link or tell me what file you used to root?
Thanks!
hellooo everyone, I just wanted to share my method with you.
first download the ftf official rom http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2313378
second download the Advance Stock Kernel with Recovery v06 http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2167381
third download XZDualRecovery http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2261606
fifth download Root by recovery by Emerald http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=41539852
How to Install
flash the ftf using flashtool-0.9.10.2beta6
flash doomlord's kernel v6 with fastboot
flash the zip root from cwm
if you are fine with the v6 doomlord's kernel you are done here you have updated your phone to the latest firmware with root and cwm
if not you can flash the stock kernel back with flashtool this is how.
do like if you want to flash the 10.1.1.A.1.307 ftf but untick wipe data, cache, appslog and tick system, baseband, unknown, fota and partition
to leave only loader and kernel to be flashed.
after this when you have your stock kernel back without CWM you still have root and now you can install the XZDualRecovery by following the instructions his thread.
credits to [NUT], Doomlord, Apollo89, and EmeraldTimer. what i did was just sharing the method i do not own anything.
If you have an unlocked bootloader it's as simple as...
1. Flash kernel,
2. Flash ROM, exclude kernel,
3. Flash ROOT zip (If kernel not rooted).
...and if you do have an unlocked BL you only need a kernel.
