Hello,
i have mounted a cifs network source to my galaxy tab. And in the past i thought that it is not possible that the standard applications detect the media on this path. But now the application "music" (standard music player) has detected on folder filled with mp3, but an other folder with mixes is not detected. How can i add the other folder? Both are shown in the file manager.

Hey Guys,
I just got this phone and I've been geeking out with the all the cool voice command features of WinMo. However, I noticed that while my Windows Media Player library picks up all of tags and album pics perfectly, I can only play 2 of them through voice command.
I've got 2 q's:
1. Where is the winMO media library stored?
2. Does the ASR tap into a different Windows Media Player database?
Thanks!
The WMP Mobile library is stored on whatever media that contains the media files. This means that if you have songs on a micro SD card, then the library file is on the micro SD card. You need to view all hidden files in your file explorer on the device.
If the media files are on the internal storage, then the the library database is under Application Data/Microsoft/Media Player
Hope this helps.
Hi,
i'm having a issue with Media Scanner and thanks to that with nearly all media players on Android.
Let me explain .
I don't have my music on Galaxy Tab, i have a share on network, mounted via CIFS to /mnt/sdcard/music. With apps like MortPlayer or via explorer utils i can see the contents of this folder.
Unfortunately this folder is not indexed by Media Scanner, as even if i use a SD rescan util (which forces the Media Scanner to start scanning), none of the files show up in the standard music player. On other side, if i manually copy the files to internal memory via USB, then after USB disconnect the Media Scanner runs and finds all new files - except those from those from the share.
Now, the question is if this is some sort of Media Scanner limitation (like if it ignores any mounts) or do i have some configuration issue ?
Of course i could use MortPlayer, but i don't really like using this kind of player if could have a library instead.

Have you find solution? I'm having same problem. Tried to google, but no luck.
No solution unfortunately. It looks like a limitation of the Android media scanner.
Hi,
iam using the standard Player called "musik" on my galaxy tab.
I have mounted a CIFS on /mnt/sdcard/media/subfolders
There are 3 folders which contain mp3 files. Others Videos...
One week ago i have noticed that the Media Scanner has detected the content from only one folder full of mp3s. I thougt that it is impossible that the standard player detects files from cifs. But it has detected the media. I dont now why. The other two folders with mp3-mixes are not detected.

There's got to be a simple way to do this: I have some soft-porn, (basically), clips I don't want to show up in the Gallery or in any players directory, (by adding a .nomedia file in the directory with the clips). I use a File Manager app to get to them on my SD Card. The file manager shows an icon for the Zimly player next to the files, but when I open them, the default player runs instead. How do I associate the default player for mp4 files? I want to use Zimly and not the default player.
Thanks!
Hi there,
I am having problems transfering music on to my LG Optimus Black.
I am not sure where to create a music folder so the default music player can see the music files.
I have created music folders in Audio and in DCIM and in the main menu and the music is on the phone but the it is not found by the default player.
Any help would be appreciated .
Kind Regards
Kev
You put music files (say .mp3) anywhere in your memory card, your player should detect it automatically. So there should be an error reading the memory card.
Try this : Settings >> SD card & phone storage >> Unmount SD card.
Then mount it again. Once scanning of all media files finishes ( You may be able to see the scanning progress and completion notification on top bar. ) you player should work okay.
Also try downloading different players from market. Do they detect your music files?
I'm not that sure but I think the SD already have a "music" folder? mine those, I put all files there and player automatic detected them, even if I have files at bluetooth>music or download>music folders still detect them with no problem

Well even if there's no music named folder it still works. I directly copied my folders from pc such as metallica and linkin park etc and I put it in "my favourite" folder in root directory and it works perfectly..
I want to pull in audiobook files into a separate folder, and not have them show up in the music folder. I'd like to set the folder as a "nomedia" folder for scanning. What is the equivalent .nomedia file or setting for windows phones?
Thanks
I used my Desktop Pc to mark the folder as hidden and renamed it. Took some time until the phone recognized it, but it worked.
