[Q] Anyone can play Plants vs Zombies in custom rom? - LG Optimus 2x

I cannot play PVZ in O2X with custom rom, always hang, but it's smoothly in original rom, any solutions??

so you have tried it on stock?
mine doesn't work also im on fear mcr rom.
always freezes inside the game..
its weird cause my 600 mhz optimus one can play it very well
anyways, this does not belong to android development section...

For me no problem with PvZ on CM7 kang (31.05).
This game is so addictive!

so possibly the game doesn't work only on MCR based roms.

Sounds like it - crashes for me, on FR18b2.

I have the same problem with Plants vs Zombies on MCR. I can't run Navizon either.... both of these were fine on CM7
It has been raised over at MoDaCo so Paul (who makes the MCR roms) should be aware of it now

Has any one got this game to work yet?

try to move entire game to external SD card...see if it works

latest version works fine on cm7

I had same problem with custom kernel on MIUI, either Vadonkas or SetiroNs (beginning of January), for both the game freezed after very short time... the standard MIUI kernel worked. But because I want to OC phone I reinstalled a stock based rom (Django 0.5) and flashed FPS Kernel 0.3a1 and have no problem with the game.

What is the best rom Now?

I used now Eclair and is good but i need change.
I need stable, fast and good Rom.
What can u do "offer"?
Try different ROM's and decide for yourself
i have tried just about every ROM on this forum and I always go back to HTCDevil's "fast and light ROM v2.0.
it is fast, light and stable. i would like to switch to one of the "froyo hacked" ROMs, but i need my video recorder ans more stability than the 2 i have tried provide for now (motofrenzy and bastardized).

Anything eclair based if you want stable, Personally I've had no massive issues with Bastardized and having Froyo is nice anyway. Sense ROMs are a bit slower due to the lack of RAM/Swap but still usable but not as a daily driver
im using cyanogenmod 6 from kabaldan, everything works fine and its really stable
I would try "CyanogenMod" works really great.
But more battery consumption.
App2sd @ FAT32 is awesome
fg
i instaled cyan and i have many fc ;/
On fast and light rom fast consumtion battery.
And i return too EclairMod.

Telus Lite V4.1
CM 6 stopped all reboot issues from official Motocrap ROM for me.
I have a Milestone in Argentina and i flashed it with Telus 3.11 which in my opinion is for now the best stable ROM. You have to manual install the 3D Gallery as it does not come wit this ROM.
From Telus you can choose to flash CM6 (i think) which in my opinion is still buggy and lot of user report problems with that or this.
Other possibility is than Telus Light 4.x or the upcoming 5.x, but includes heavy overclock.
I my self stay with Telus 3.11, de installed all the system/app crap, some boot manipulations, root, and a own theme based on Buggless Evolution. I am happy with it. No overlock, etc. as i am not a guy who plays a lot of cpu intensive games.
Perhaps i am going to improving the java engine.
Resume: Flash Telus 3.11 and from there you go.
I'm happy with eclair v3a for now. Battery life and lack of viable camera keep me away from the Froyo roms. In my opinion regardless of what else might be packed inside, the eclair rom has some crap cleaned out of it, has superuser and overclocking and a some other bells or whistles and it all works.
Good enough for me till someone cracks the kernal or we get a real milestone froyo.
Regards, PK
P.S. I've heard this lament for other roms, why does ADW or power launcher seem jerky at higher clock speeds?
xslntx's telus lite rom v4 is amazingly fast and stable. A hybrid rom based on euro and telus. Governed over/under clocking so battery life is good, but power is there when needed. V5 is coming out which promises to speed things up even more.

at least majority of the framework + libs are original droid libs, and is as official as it can get..
but i guess camera was always an issue, but this is soon past tence, when we get a good kernel, i might just fix a final motofrenzy before it gets officially released, as cm6 is not official, but is based on custom compiles based off android opensource.
In my opinion, the best ROM nowadays is the Eclair-based EclairMOD v3B by 89luca89. Fast and stable, never a reboot! Froyo based ROMs are faster just running benchmarks, in everyday use I think Eclair is still a step forward..

Eclair is actually a step backwards... i am fortunate to have tested a 2.1 on Galaxy S which really shows why you would chose froyo compared to a 2.1 rom.
Imagine opening 5 different apps, having 2 flash videos running in different windows and a game as well..
handling is so much so faster which is memory + froyo handling on top.
secondly for milestone, you get the option to move apps (non-rooted) to a sdcard, which is thanks to froyo too...
with all the extra froyo adds in already existing semi-2.2 roms, you simply meant patience is gold, but for some, that is already found.. i have been very happy with milestone running motofrenzy and motosense , and note: no reboots!!
but lacks camera, but i could care less, as ms camera is not worth much anyways...
with the early release of froyo 2.2 kernel, im sure you will upgrade very soon...
either official or to a custom cmX rom.
Froyo is surely much better as specs, but for everyday use, 2.2 ROMs have more disavantages than avantages, starting from the camera, battery life, mobile overheating, random reboot.. I'm speaking on my personal experience, maybe I was just unlucky!
Overall speed is true, is better on Froyo, but overall I still prefer Eclair. I've tried all 2.2 roms here and no one works absolutely fine on my Milestone, as better roms will come out, I'll surely upgrade to 2.2.. but now, Eclair for me!
=)

+1 @ TelusLite 4.1
tested HoNo, CyanogenMod6, EclairMod, and MotoFrenzy..
TelusLite v4.1 is the absolute fastest of them all... I realize i have over-clocks with some other modifications to the memory/kernel, but TL4.1 screamed past them all with EclairMod in second place followed by HoNo
I did all tests from a factory reset & blank install.

Modaco FR15 or CM7

Hi guys,
Currently running MCR FR15 but was thinking of giving CM7 a try...
Was wondering which people thought was the better rom at the moment in terms of stability / everything working / best battery life?
Cheers in advance.
I would stick with FR15 for now. It is very reliable. CM7 is way too buggy at the moment. Tried it for 1 day and had a couple of reboot.
i have tried both, CM7 is really not ready yet.
Cm7:
Flash video curruption, Sound stuttering, SOUND distortion , USB Mount to PC bug ,
Most important,
CM7 11. has a bug not all people has been experiencing yet, which the EXTernal USB card is not detecting under Recovery mode. THis **** end up having me NVflash my system, and lost everysingle thing on the device.
Note: if you read the forum , and i am not the only one that has this issue.
i will stay with FR15 for sure.
But to me i rather use STOCK LG ROM, issue free. if you can live with a bit slower UI and installation , other than that i think Custom rom isn't really that much better than LG stock rom with all the issue we are experiencing right now
I tried both, too.
MoDaCo feels more solid with less bug but the battery time kills me. Even with all apps suspended it still drains 10%+ overnight.
CM7 is quite buggy, yes. But I managed to get it running quite a-ok. The most important things work well (phone, gps, usb-storage, youtube, gmail etc...). There are a lots of issues with usb-storage doesnt work for some people and the video driver is still full of bugs (broken flash video, on-off animation don't work yet, screen turns on twice at wake ). Still, the best feature of this CM7 gotta be the battery time which is really really really important for me. Installed CM7 nightly 11 2 night ago and the battery drain has been virtually zero overnight. I will have to monitor it a few more days thought. Just wiped the battery stats yesterday so it might have not been correctly showed yet.

CM7 is completely separate to the recovery, and has no bearing on it. Whatever caused the problem was not CM7.

Totally agree with u.
I would stick with stock until CM7 is ready. Paul will lose interest in the O2X like he does with every device and development will stop. CM7 has a much larger development community and when the final builds are released it will be the perfect Android device.
But to be fair, Paul doesn't stop development on a device until his ROM is as good as he thinks he can get it (which, as I found on my Hero & Blade is pretty damn good - not installed FR15 on my O2X, as still thinking about taking it back).
Tested allmost all cm7 nightlies till v11. Its a dawn good rom, but not reliable at the moment because of the freezes and reboots. I will definitely install cm7 final but till then i continue using fr15 FEAR edition (stable and smoothness ****in rocks )
Hi guys,
Bringing this one back from the dead - we're a month on from the original post... is there any change?
Is MCR (FR17) still the best custom rom?
Of has CM or one of the FR18 roms from here surpassed it?
CM7 has come along way, annoying freezes are a thing of the past.
I'd recommend a modaco based rom. I'm running fear edition and it's nice and fast. Cm7 still has some bugs.
I'd recommend making a nandroid and testing a few out for yourself. Backup and restore is a fairly simple process

I'm running CM7 .42 build at the moment, and I must say I'm pretty impressed. Overall feel is better than with Fr16 (haven't used 17+, since that's when I went on to ecperiment with CM7 nightlies), app installation is faster, Gingerbread (should I say more? Well, yes: it brings UI changes I prefer to Froyo, like the widget selection screen, faster UI overall).
I had issues with Slick2x and Spoelstra's GB ROMs rendering my Wifi unstable and unable to connect after a while, but I have flashed CM7 off the official source and it is bloody stable, fast and I have yet to experience that WiFi bug again. (I have had one reboot, but I am pretty sure it was a sucky app (errrr, game) that caused it. Hard to blame CM7 for that.)
I'm currently not going back to Paul's ROMs for a while. I'll stay a subscriber though: he has magic fingers and I'm looking forward to seeing what he can do when LG finally gets us GB....
I'm using the latest CM7 Nightly, it works perfect, but the only issue is that i'm not able to get the internal sd-card mounted.
Anybody got a solution for this?
Look in /mnt/emmc
Thanks, but...
For example the camera won't see it. I think camera app doesn't know the mountpoint. Same at gallery.
Currently, I don't have an external sd-card...
I'll have a try by editing the vold.fstab, perhaps that's it
Edit: just renaming emmc with sdcard and vice versa doesn't solve the problem.
Edit2: It works!
Tested fr17 fearless today, it's nice and quick but i just miss something.. don't know what. Back to cm7

+1 for Modaco or fear Rom CM7 just isn't there yet for an everyday rom, It's close. I still get sound missing or stuttering in MOST music players that only goes away after a reboot but come back randomly. A fair few games just refuse to run under CM7 that run fine under any other non 2.3 rom. So for me any 2.2 based rom is at least usable as 2.3 isn't quit there yet. If you however never use your phone for music/photo or games then CM7 may just be ok for you.
Kernel
Sorry, but you and 'ever fail to install rom with some kernel?? Let me explain:
Device: Lg optimus dual root
Rom can not install anything they "Flesch" kernel Modak r10.
have no problem when I install the nightly cyanogen, all the others I do not like me on whether the cell remains blocked startup that says LG.

Not 100% sure what you're trying to say...I recommend a wipe data/factory reset and wipe cache partition then dalvik cache in clockwork recovery. Then install your new ROM. If that doesnt work try nvflash back to stock.

Most Stable rom?

Hello, I own a motorola milestone from telus, and have tried Cyanogen mod 7 and Miui. They werent bad but of course had errors which is expected. What is the best "Stable" rom out there for the milestone. Preferably froyo and higher! any suggestions for roms would be greatly appreciated
I would say that eybee's MIUI is quite good, it implemented kabaldan's DSI fix and other stuff. For Froyo, I recommend, FroyoMOD, an update is coming next week. For GB, I find Cronos and MIUI are quite stable.

Some changes on Cyanogen's Mod7 for Milestone on its RC10 version have made this rom one of the most stables among custom roms, besides, i really think that CM7 is more stable than stock firmwares
I went from stock 2.1 to iceandfire CM6/CM7. My experiences are very positive: performance and batterylife are much better than on stock and most of the kinks of the early cm7 builds have been worked out.
In fact its running so well, that i dont see the need to upgrade eventhough the hardware is aging quickly

I have just switched back to cyanogen mod 7 rc 10 the latest one, and so far, ive tested everything and its all snappier. I have v6 supercharger on as well which helps it as well. i am very pleased with this latest version.
Cyanogen 7.1.0 RC10 is very stable. So if you want Gingerbread qive it a try.
Otherwise, the most stable ROM out there I still believe its the official 2.1-update1 one.
cronosginger 1.4.0 most stable for me
When I ran CM7 on my Verizon Droid 1 I had a lot of problems with randomly not receiving text messages... I ended up switching it back to CM6.
Does this still happen on cm7? (yes I did check the button to lock the messaging app in memory...)
I had some problems w/CM7, screen went crazy, switched to Steel Droid and it's working great w/GB.

thanks for the input will give it some consideration, but for the meantime i have yet to have a FC or anything slowing down the phone on cyanogen mod 7 rc 10.
I went back to cronos 1.4 and it is very stable.
CM7 RC10 is one of the best i've tried fast, smooth ... that's all i need ^^ ... i like Miui too, but it still has many crashes with contacts with no aparent reasons ..

I think stability wise they are all good. The latest custom firmwares don't have random reboots or battery drain. But in terms of the most usable I would suggest telus lite 5.2

For me CM7 is very slow and crashes all the time. But I think I've got some software issues.
In my opinion FroyoMOD 2.8.0b is most stable rom For me, no reboots, freezing etc.
Yep, currently using CM7 RC10 and I think it's working really well.. snappy and stable
I´ve tested for my german Milestone CM6, CM7 RC9 and RC10, MIUI 1.7.1 and at last Ho!No!
The same problems with all this ROMs: Reboots every day, no notification on incoming SMS (except MIUI), no games runs (angry birds, stupid zombies, etc. - except CM6), reboots after one shot with the camera app. With MIUI, I have no free space on internal (although I`ve moved all apps to sd) and no RAM.
And I`ve tested everything with CPUsettings, overclocking, VM Heap settings, build.prop optimization, vsel settings, etc.
I`ve deleted all my favorite apps to get more space and performance. No widgets on screen..
So, I don`t know, which ROM I should test the next :-(
The fact is: Gingerbread ROMs are to heavy for my milestone. So I go back to CM6. I want my games back!!

I'd suggest giving FroyoMOD a try. There are a couple bugs in the latest 2.9 version, but I'm sure luca will get them ironed out, and the versions that I've used have been very stable and very responsive.
I like CM7 as well, but have always found myself cursing the lag and memory shortages that I get after a few days' use. But I'll probably give RC11 a try anyway.
Those of you using Cronos, is Maps working alright?
yeah, FroyoMod is a good Idea.
I love MIUI and CM7 too. The stock sms- and phone-app in MIUI are much better than all others. But for my weak Milestone they are too big.

[Q] Best ROM for Milestone

Hi!
I bought an original Motorola Milestone (the original one) a little more than a year ago. When I got it, I rooted the stock ROM (Android 2.1). A few weeks ago, I installed the latest version of MIUI ROM, but I don't like it. Well, I like the ROM itself very much, but I don't like how slow the phone is. It doesn't feel as fast as the stock 2.1 (I had it overclocked at 800MHz). For instance - Sygic that worked as a charm on 2.1 is very slow on MIUI and crashes all the time. And even when it works it lags as hell. I also don't know if the Milestone Overclock application works with MIUI - it doesn't give me any errors when I load the module but it doesn't work on startup.
So any ideas how to speed this thing up? I found these solutions:
a) go back to stock 2.1, which worked almost as it should and was fast
b) go to stock 2.2 ROM
c) Install some other custom ROM (which one?)

CM 6 & 7 are both great.
I don't know if flashing CM6 or 7 would help much. MIUI that I am using currently is based on CM6 after all. And I would be totaly happy with it if it ran a little faster. I want a faster browser and GPS navigation that works like it should. Both things worked on stock ROM better than they do now.

Are you running an old Froyo MIUI? You should try the latest MIUI on Gingerbread. Basically, every ROM is based off of CM7, so you should try that first, or possibly FroyoMOD if you want a Froyo ROM.

Try DannyDroid's version of MIUI, it has a lot more features that specifically tweak the Milestone for the best performance possible.
I am downloading it now. I hope that it works better than the version that I have.
Wow!
That is much better! While it is still MIUI, it works so much better - it feels faster and scrolling in browser is almost smooth, also Sygic which was crashing before now works - at least for now. I will see how it works after a few days, but first impressions are good. I also like that it is overclocked at 1GHz by default.

[Q] [I9001]BroodROM, Cranium or official ROM?

Hi guys! I'm new here in this forums and I'm buying my new SGS+ in a couple of weeks. I can see there aren't that many ROMS and custom firmwares, but the ones that exist are very good! I want to know if the official ROMS are fast and good for everyday usage, gaming and listening to music. I know that the custom ROMs like Cranium and BroodRom are super fast, but I always prefer official firmware. Please express your opinion and give me a suggestion. I have experience with flashing a SGS+, so it's not a problem for me.
Well, these custom ROMs are in fact just modded stock ROMs. So you can get some added AOSP apps and removed bloatware. CM development is really difficult as some devs already bricked their phones.
I personally wouldn't buy it again.
It's a quite decent phone but nothing special imo.

I know they're just soft-mods, but people say they're faster than official ROMs, because they contain some tweaks.
Yes, thats right. If you have some knowledge you could also tweak the stock ROM yourself as you like it. (Apart from things like CWM recovery etc.)
If you don't need all those Samsung bloatware then you could flash one of the ROMs you like.

Thank you all for your opinions! I had a very positive experience with one of your ROMs, so I think I will go for BroodROM.
BroodROM RC2 with the Cranium Kernel v6 1900MHz
That way you can overclock as you wish with the "no frills cpu control" app and set governors + i/o scheduler.
At least thats what i have on my SGS+ and i'm very happy with it
here's a benchmark screenshot of mine
