I was wondering if it matters whether or not your battery is at 100% when you flash a new Rom, because I flashed a Rom yesterday with about 35% battery left, and now it seems like my battery life has declined a lot.
Thanks!
Yes it matters. Yes you can recalibrate. No this is not the right sub forum to post a question. Questions are for forums Q and A

its a REALLY BAD idea to flash with less than 50% battery because you never know you might run into problems and you might run out of juice mid flash which can permabrick your device. seccond yes you can recalobrate just charge up to 100 go into clockwork and wipe battery stats plug it in while the phone is off and wait till the green battery is 100% then run the battery dry without charging untill it wont even turn on. then your batteries calibrated. Also hte guy above is right this is the wrong section you should have posted in q&a and im sure a mod wil be allong any minuite to close this thread
Yeah I was in a rush downloading the new CM7 Rom, and thought I was in the Q & A forums when I wasn't...
Just waiting for an admin to come on by and close it for me!
But thanks!
Dear all.

There are so many threads here dealing with your questions. Because .. you are not the only one. ... Why not search and read a little what's already there?
I find this really weird ....
Basically, battery drains REALLY fast from 100%. After a day off charge (around 8/ 9 hours away from home) it's dropped significantly. This amounts to about...
100% - 70/ 80% in morning from about 20 mins web browsing on wifi. After having it off, in my pocket doing nothing other than (supposedly) sleeping, battery life has dropped way below 20% (it varies). I started charging it after getting home though, but had to leave with it only at 33%. That was at about 6:30. It is still at 33% now .
What the fudge is happening? In the time from being at 30% I even texted and made calls... I even kept my phone on previously at 122- 480MHz SmartassV2 but it was running between 122- 614MHz SmartassV2 from when it was 33% ?
I know there are tons of threads about battery life, but this just stuns me. Please help Main Q: What is happening + how do I fix it :cyclops:
SOLVED: After using LMCFroyo I have concluded that the problem is that Gingerbread ROMs are the cause of fast battery drain for our G1s..... basically stick to Froyo
i'd say u need a battery replacement...
same thing happened to my G1 sometime ago...
battery behavior was insanely ridiculous... unless i'd keep it on charge, it'd shut down in say 5 mins of usage!
get a new battery... they are like maybe 10$ or under...
I think its down to a number of things, but mainly the rom your on. I just tried a gb rom, finding battery drained in 6 hours. Back with lmc froyo now, and back to normal battery drain, with battery draining in 24 hours at least.

I was using tvall's CM7, I'm trying GinSense atm. I flashed LMCFroyo, but I missed all the advanced CM options... could give Biffmod a go I suppose. Thanks anyway.

I tried biffmod but can't remember how the battery behaved i'm afraid.I find lmcfroyo has a nice balance of speed, reliability and battery life. Mine was just a standard install.

hmmm... I still don't think I could live without any advanced options, so I thin kI'd prefer a CM based ROM. I'll see how GinSense performs, but it sounds as though Gingerbread is the problem.
Update: I've narrowed it down to either Biffmod or Froyo by Laszlo (or one of the few variants of this).... I'm also thinking of Dreamteam Froyo because I like tvall's stuff....but if LMC is really that good I reckon I could hold on till ryree0 releases the latest update which he just posted about, plus it's actually up to date and supported.... so what do you guys think?
Personally I find lmcfroyo better than biffmod and fbl, but to be honest battery life and reliability are most important to me. I'd give it a try before any update, as it works fine, plus you'd notice the improvements when there's an update.
Edit: If you do go for fbl I recommend icsfbl, as in my sig. Its a nice blend of looks and fbl speed.

Thanks I'l give LMC another go and stick to it... so the general concencus (that looks wrong whichever way I spell it) is that new Froyo builds are better than old abandoned ones that were good in their time? Oh yeah, and when you say "battery life and reliability" are more important to you, does that mean you think Biffmod + co. are faster but not as good in other aspects? lol, this has turned into a Froyo discussion thread (sorry)

Yeah, i think you summed up pretty well! I can't believe the battery life with lmc actually - thinking about it that's what i like about it the most! I probably have the most basic and miminalistic set up going, so it should work as well for you. Removing hotmail from all my devices also helped i think, but thats just another issue in my quest for improved battery life!

OK, I've got it all set up now to probably my most basic setup, I'll give it a go today and if all goes well I'll mark this thread as solved thanks guys
One last q (sorry)
Thanks everyone for all your help, I've just got one last question: I'm thinking of still trying a different Froyo build based on CM, just for comparison, so would you recommend Biffmod or Froyo by Laszlo.... I think the latter is more up to date, but it doesn's specifiy which version it is... thanks for all your help to my problem anyway
hi guys
What is the best rom i9000 in the battery consumption ?
It's less to do with the actual ROM, and more to do with how many apps you have running in the background, what baseband you're using, and what you use your phone for (i.e lots of 3d gaming = battery death)
Sent from my GT-I9000 using Tapatalk
The best ROM is found when creating a thread in Q&A Section of the forum to ask this question and not in the Development section of the forum . But anyway to answer your question : you need to test ROMs and configurations by yourself. Someone told me that a ROM XYZ is the best for performance and ZYX is best for battery life. That was not the case for me even tho I have a relative new battery ( a couple of months old now) and the battery life sucked for me on that ROM a couple of people recommended. So test test test to get your perfect answer without placebo effect. If 2 guys here tell you that ROM ABC has the best Battery life, if you flash it, placebo effect gets control and you say wow, omfg, etc. So test a ROM you like for 2 days then switch to another and see how they perform for you.
Also, as knuckles1978 said, you also need to experiment with different Radios/Basebands/Modems (whatever you want to call it)

Hello everyone. As we all know that our p880 has never been good with battery backup but still iv tried many ROMs yet no good results. But as the phone is getting older it seems the battery is also losing strength. Is it suggested to get a new battery ? Will it make a difference ? Please suggest/advice
Thank you.

What do you mean by getting older, wrinkles? ... just kidding.. do you need to charge more time, or less on screen hours, never charging to 100% ?
My suggestion:
Try different roms *( Mahdi 2.9 preeti solid battery life, aprox 3 hours maybe more) alway do full wipe(factory, cash, dalvik, even format sistem)
Try battery calibration app from market (maybe placebo, but worked couple of times for me.. doesnt hurt to try)
AND CHARGE YOUR PHONE
Ask if you need somethng
Thank you for replying. It hasn't got any wrinkles yet ? but yes I have to charge it twice thrice a day and the SOT is 2 hrs max. I'm on nameless 5.0 right now. Is the Mahdi rom u suggested 4.x.x or 5.x.x ?
that is ok for 5.0, AOKP by Molthenmotherboard is most stable 5.x for me .. good deep sleep, and all.. mahdi 2.9 is 4.4.4, i also have to charge mine 2x day if i use it havily, i've tried different batteries and new ones.. no change.. maybe those bulky with 3xxx mah can make a change.
