I see a lot of excellent bootanimations, but not many downanimations, and I wanted something different to stock for my phone.
This is just a simple downanimation that mimics a CRT screen turning off. It's not exactly the same in style as the "CRT Screen Off" from Gingerbread, but I think it complements it nicely. I've been using it for a while now and thought I'd share it.
This is not my own work - I took the graphics from edint3000's Steel Blue theme and just made a DHD compatible version.
Here's a preview (not working in Tapatalk, sorry). Of course it doesn't loop like this on your phone:
Don't stare at it too long or you might hypnotise yourself.
Download here.
To install, simply push the file to /system/customize/resource/ using ADB or QtADB.
Assuming you have a working ADB installed, open a command prompt to the folder where you saved the zip file and type this:
Code:
adb remount
adb push downanimation.zip /system/customize/resource
If you use Root Explorer to copy the file on your phone, please long press on the file and select Permissions, and change them to match these:

I don't think CRT Animations work ATM for 6.1, the devs are working on it right now.

This is a down animation that is only mimicking the CRT styled screen on/off effect. It will only be seen when turning the phone off. You'll have to join the rest of us in waiting for CRT animations for 6.1.0!

Ha, I'd nearly forgotten about this thread. Yes, exactly as pravus_nephilim says (thanks). This is just a downanimation for when you power off the phone. There are devs looking into the normal screen-off CRT animation. If you really can't wait, take a look at the "Screen Off and Lock" app on the Market, which does a pretty good job of mimicking the Gingerbread CRT effect.
thx for the info. pravus_nephilim ! And thx preacher65 for the link lets waiting for CRT animations ARHD 6.1.0 ;P
Thanks for this downanimation! Really nice.

Kitty Cat Boot Animations
This is my first break into boot/shutdown animations. I put these together for my wife, an adamant cat lover. We stumbled upon Simon’s Cat videos on youtube and it just made her think of her fluffy cat. That’s all it took, so I put these together as a surprise to bring more cat joy to her phone! The look I went for was to have the cat clean itself until the phone is shut down, where it finally stops to look at the screen. There is a separate flash-able for EC05 and EG22 because Gingerbread uses sanim.zip instead of bootanimation.zip. You will require a kernel with boot animation support. While the boot animations should appear just fine, I have not actually tested the shutdown animations yet and am simply assuming how it will appear. Enjoy!

About Flashing Shutdown Animations:
Shutdown animation exists as a sequence of PNG files in /system/media/video/shutdown so this zip will simply copy the image files there. HOWEVER, since this is not simply replacing one file like the boot animation, if you currently have a shutdown animation this zip you should delete the folder using your root accessible file manager of choice (unsolicited advertisement: Root Explorer does very well with read/write permissions and is totally worth the purchase) or adb the folder out of there. If you flash over an existing PNG sequence it may be prone to weird flashing and stuttering.
DISCLAIMER: ALWAYS have a backup of your system BEFORE you flash. I am not responsible for anything bad happening to your phone should you choose to flash these files.

That's weird. You can always push the folder to your phone manually. Ill look into it.

I figured it out after trying to push the folder manually. There was no cfg file included so I made one. Also for some reason all the png suffixes we capitalized which didn't seem to work so I changed those and it works now.

This boot animation has a comparatively longer period. So if you are in cm7 or miui, you can experience only a portion of it. Best viewed in Sense Roms.
Now added the background music, so it's much better now.......If you are using any Virtuous Roms (including the latest), use the sense 3.0 version.
Download the Version based on your Rom
Sense 3.0 based Rom - Portrait , Landscape
Sense 3.5 based Rom - Portrait , Landscape
CynogenMod based Rom - Portrait , Landscape
The MIUI version is here. Use this link. This is a .mtz file so just run it, it will do the rest.
Make sure you have you have sufficient space in /system folder, before you start with the procedure.
Procedure to install via CWM Recovery
1. Download the Flashable zip file from the above list.
2. Do a Nandroid Backup.
3. Reboot into Recovery & Flash the zip.
4. Now reboot & enjoy........
Thanks. Very nice.

It should work on every phone that is rooted, if your uneasy bout flashing it. Use root explorer, find your original boot animation, rename it with " .bak " at the end (that'll back it up ). Then extract the new one an put it in the same place as the original. Reboot
after that, an see what happens. If it worked, then there you go. If not go back to bootanimation, delete the one you put there. Find the original one with ".bak", remove that part(by renameing it). That'll restore your original.
If I helped, give thanks, if you please.

Hi Guys/Gals,
ABOUT:
Ok like many people out there, I am an Assassin's Creed nut so I decided to make a boot animation for my android.
I did this using the stock ICS boot animation as a backdrop with a blood red hue. and then blurred it out to make it look slightly out of focus. I then created an Assassin's Creed Logo in 3D and then gave it a dirty crystal look so the blood red backdrop shows through a little. I made it only spin once because I didn't want a tacky unfinished look (animation stopping halfway through etc.). and on top of that long animations only slow down the boot time of a fast device. I added a delay of a second on the end to just show the logo on a black background while the system loads.

Here is a link to video of the boot animation running on a HTC Vivid/Velocity/Raider
DOWNLOAD: Click Here
INSTALL INSTUCTIONS:
It is built for the HTC Vivid/Raider/Velocity at a res of 540x960 however I am led to believe it will work on any device.
- Download the Boot Animation
- Rename the Boot Animation to bootanimation.zip or Telstra_bootanimation.zip (if you are running the Stock Telstra Rom on a rooted phone).
- Use ADB or a GUI app like Droid Explorer to copy the file over the existing bootanimation.zip and then reboot the device.
- Enjoy.
FINAL WORDS:
Boot animations take time to create (when your not just splitting up frames of a video etc). So if you like it, please give Thanks.
Depending on the feedback I receive, I might do a few more animations as well.
Cheers
Camo

A couple of questions...
How are you trying to replace it? (what are you using to actually replace the file?)
Have you got /system mounted? Some people have to load into recovery and mount /system and while still in recovery they flash the files from there.
Maybe your phone is not rooted?

cool bootanimation. could you possibly make a version that repeats the animation? it would be awesome if you could. i know you said it slows it down and dont want it to look tacky when it stops mid ani, but i kinda like the repeating look of the stock ics bootanimation.
This looks hot. I can't seem to find the original boot animation so can someone plz tell me where I can find it...

Should be under /system/customize/resources/ if your running a Telstra ROM they call the bootanimation something different, if so, look under files starting with T.

One thing to all: miui lockscreen that comes with the rom can be laggy. I suggest entering the themes and downloading one called black Android. Then enter milocker to apply just the lockscreen.

I am on stock and flashlight works fine normally. But when i use scripts to make my phone faster sometimes the flashlight on and off in one or two seconds. It may be a touch sensitive config problem, its like i pressed two times and phone responsed in few seconds even i pressed only once. Especially the problem occurs when i use the launcers button. If with apps flaslight working normally then may be changing some tweaks will solve the problem.
