[Q] how to get my info back after changing ROM ? - LG Optimus 2x

Hey guys, sorry for the question it's probably stupid but I'm new to all of this. So, put briefly I made a nandroid backup, wiped cache and did a factory reset, changed my ROM to CM7 RC1 and now what do I do to get my contacts, applications and stuff back to the phone ? Do I load the nandroid backup from recovery mode or I use the LG PC Suite sync option ?
Thanks in advance and sorry once again.

If You do a nandroid u'll be right back where You started
Nandroid is like an image of Your phone with ALL info, software, tweaks,SMS etc etc...
If You have it backed up with LG sync i would use that..
You should also consider getting an google account at least so You can backup all Your contacts (and if you want mail, and calander) online...
But dont do a nandroid unless u want to go back .. .

sprite backup failure

Hey guyz.
I have made a rom upgrade to the new v3 dutty, I'm really happy with it, although I forgot that I wont be able to restore the backup + my conacts gonna go missing. I do have a backup from my phone, what do you think, is there any way to actually restore or somehow get out my contacts from that backup?
I'm with tmobile uk, that was the original rom.
Thanks a lot.
Might be better to restore the original rom, restore the backup and then use a pim backup to backup just the contacts.
i c. any idea where could i get the original tmobile rom???
many thanks
You'll have to do a search on that one if you didn't do a dump or your ROM prior to flashing another ROM.
Didnt you sync your contacts with your PC (with Outlook)?
No, I dont use outlook, so i dont have a sync. I tried to backup explorer from sprite, although I couldnt find the contact file - where it is stored. I wouldnt mind to put back the original tmobile rom, although I couldnt find it anywhere. Please all tmobile uk users if you could post your rom here, it would be nice, or u guyz know a link...
THanks
try Here for the ROM
Hope it helps!

Nandroid backup - does it get EVERYTHING ?

Folx,
I got bitten by the rooting bug. However, as I do use the phone quite a bit, I want to play it safe , so that if the ROMs I am about to try, don't quite work out, I want to get back to stock img and the apps I have and the settings I have etc.
So - as I perform Nandroid backup - does it backup everything ? In other words, if/when I have to restore from the said backup, will I get EVERYTHING back - all the apps and settings, as if nothing has changed ?
Or will I have to reinstall and configure all the apps anew ?
Yes, you will get your apps and settings back.
However I think it doesn't backup other partitions like "radio", because I recently had a problem with my radio and nandroid restore didn't help, I had to flash it again. Anyway, yes, as far as apps, settings, SMS, contacts etc. are concerned you're good.

It creates img files of boot, data, system (and your ext partition on your sd card if you are using one). Anything found in those will be imaged and backed up. It is way too dangerous and pointless to backup the radio. Radio isn't a partition btw.
Don't confuse nandroid backups with other (titanium for example) backups that can carry your settings from one rom to another...
So I have to have the radio image in order to safely restore a NANDROID backup? This thread is old and I don't know if things have changed by now...
PS: Unsure if I have to start a new thread to get an answer to this...
If you won't have a radio image intact, your phone won't boot at all. It won't even turn on.

[Q] kies ".sbu" backup

Hello everyone,
I recently flashed CM7 and everything went well, it runs smooth and everything works as far as I tested... However, Kies is a b*tch . As expected, it no longer recognizes my phone, but the problem is : I have done a backup of all contacts I had, and now I can't get it back, since they are stored in a 2.2gb (along with loads of videos, pictures, etc.) .sbu file that kies won't touch unless I plug a "i9000m" phone in it.
So, is there any way to open those .sbu backup files or to retrieve the information stored in them? I guess if there's no other way I could flash back to stock ROM, restore with kies, find another way to backup and then reflash CM7, but I really don't feel like it ...
By the way, I also have a CWM backup from before the flash that I could use, but I'm not sure if it would work with CM7. If I only restore "data" will I get those contacts back? and will it mess up my phone because of CM7?
Thanks for the answers
Edit: Ignore this, the contacts are actually in a separate .spb file... So, how do I open/use that?

[Q] froyomod or miui

froyomod 2.7/2.8 or the latest miui .. im concerned with the comparisons related to battery life and performance .. ppl who have used it plz comment ..
i used froyomod up to 2.7, it was faster then miui. But miui includes Android 2.3 and has better battery life.
Also i use launcherpro with both firmwares, cause it really faster then any other
froyo mod is much faster and snappier than miui and has good battery life too plus it depends on personal preferences.. u can try them both for a day and see for urself..with nandroids whats the big deal ?
idk how to do nandroid backups n use them back n all ..
its about personal taste. miui looks more like iOS and froyomod feels more like an adnorid phone. also personally i think froyo mod is a little bit more snappy and responsive.

You mean you dont know, or you do know?
If you don't know, go to recovery, and you will find a menu called Nandroid. Choose Backup, Backup All, and let it do its thing, which takes 3-5 mins. The backup will be saved by the date of the day and the number of the backup. When you restore, wipe everything first (cache, dalvik, data), then RESTORE ALL.
what all does it backup ? .. even the apps ? .. or for apps u need ext2 only ..
and when wud u normally use nandroid backup .. ???

Nandroid backup is your lifesaver. Your spare tyre.
If u screw up your phone like when your phone goes into a boot loop, u can boot into Open Recovery, and restore a Nandroid backup of your phone to the state it was b4..b4 u did something that screw up your phone.
Another usage of Nandroid backup is when you are testing a few ROMs and still cannot decide which one to use. So u can restore a Nandroid backup of one ROM, test it and then if u change your mind, u can restore the Nandroid backup of the other ROM.

Nandroid is Nandroid and Ext 2 is Ext 2. They are both not related in their purpose.
Apps2ext is only for apps...it does not help you save the setup of the phone.
While a Nandroid backup will capture and save the current state of your phone and settings such as wallpaper, ringtone, sms, and apps and other personalised settings for that particular ROM that you are testing.
So if u screw up your phone or brick your phone, u only need to restore back a copy of your Nandroid backup without having to reflash the ROM and going thru the whole process of Gapps, setting up the phone..etc..etc..
A Nandroid backup will restore back your phone to the same state it was b4 u screw up your phone.

Restore my original backup/rom

Hey guys, I need a little help please. Backed up using bootstraper got stuck on logo screen. Used hemingdall to get back up and running.. But how do I restore my original back up? I have a verizon tab.. Thanx
So doing a little more reading I found out that stock is rfs not ext4. So my backup is ext4. Am I close here? Any one can chime in at anytime. So what do I need to do to get my tab to read ext4 in order for me to flash my original backup?
You can use the lagfix to convert your tab to ext4, the restore your backup
swyped from a galaxy far far away...
Thank you. I will do a little reading on that and hopefully be able to flash my original backup on this bad boy..
