Flash Sprint SPH-P100 with a Verizon rom - Galaxy Tab Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I have a Sprint Galaxy Tab SPH-P100 that I would like to flash, convert, change so that it can be used on the Verizon network. I would hope that the 3g, wifi, GPS, phone would all work when finished. Any help appreciated!

you can flash a VZW rom to a Sprint tab, but you'll never get 3g to work on VZW's network.. Not compatible.

Thanks for the reply. I was afraid of something like that.

The Sprint tab ESN will not be in Verizon's db so you wont be able to activate it. Also neither has support for voice.
However there is a chance you could activate on Pageplus, a Verizon MVNO. They dont care about the ESN db.

you can change the ESN to a Verizon ESN and then put it on. you would need a donor Verizion phone to copy the ESN from.
It is perfectly compatible. pvtjoker42 is joking

[Q] Transfer Hero Between Cell Carriers

Hola. I have a CDMA Hero running CM7 right now.
I was getting my cell service through a local carrier, Alltel. They are no longer in business, so I decided to pass my phone on.
The new owner took the phone to a sprint store today to try and activate it. No dice. Something about the DEX # was throwing up an error from another carrier when they typed it in.
Like I said, id been using the phone on alltel for a while, So my question is, can I flash NFX-Sprint.STOCK.2.32.651.2 or some other stock sprint rom and radio combo to get it to work on sprint?
Much Thanks,
-nick
You can not activate a non-sprint phone on the Sprint network.
Ahh Well thats no fun, but Thanks for the quick reply.

You can use cloning to do it. No the phone from a different carrier will not be activated on Sprint's network, however, it will pretend to be a different phone that is active on the sprint network, by using the sprint phone's ESN as it's own.
Essentially this produces a "clone" cell device.
It is also a felony, but can be done. Some people take their Sprint Heros/etc and use ESN cloning to use the phone on Cricket/boost mobile/and other super cheap providers. Cricket uses Sprint towers, so you are basically getting the same service for a lot cheaper.

[Q] phone with no sim to droid 4

Is there a way to put my current phone service on a Verizon DROID 4? My phone has no SIM chip, the DROID does. Is there a way to do this? Please someone point me in the right direction, my current phone is so beat and I'd love to learn this but haven't heard anyone talk about this. WHy do some phones have SIM chips and others don't?

The SIM is there for LTE&GSM service, the Droid4 is an LTE&GSM enabled phone.
Verizon's network isn't GSM though, it is a CDMA phone, so they use the SIM slot for LTE only. You will need to update some CDMA settings, your best bet is to take your phone into a Verizon shop and have them set it up for you!

Not true. The CDMA settings are in the SIM cards too for 4G phones on Verizon. I switch my SIM card between different 4G phones I have and it knows who I am when making calls, texting, 3G and 4G.
But you right, you have to go to Verizon so they can provision a SIM card for your account. Its free and pretty simple to do. After that, no more ESN/MEID swaps!

Can I flash a sprint tab to work on verizon?

I've been shopping for a 1st gen tab to get onto verizon data as cheap as possible (sharing plan).
If I find a used sprint tab cheaper, can I flash it and make it work on verizon?
Will verizon accept the sprint ESN for activation?
Thanks for any advice.
I'd save the hassle and just get a Verizon Galaxy Tab... My Sprint tab is technically on Verizon, but I didn't give it an ESN from an old Verizon phone, so it can't be activated.
Anyway, the only time I'd bother flashing a Sprint tab to Verizon would be if I got the Sprint tab for free and there was nothing to lose... I accidentally lost the ESN the Sprint tab originally had, so it can't be used with Sprint, it's WiFi only now :/
I forget what I had to do exactly to get as far as I did, but it required CDMA workshop ($100 if you don't pirate, but hey **** them for charging $100 for it) and a Windows PC, which I no longer have.

AT&T on T-mobile S5

Hi, I got a T-mobile S5, and unlocked it. My 3G works but LTE won't register, I am 100% sure that the APN is correct.
Any ideas what I am doing wrong?
-You need an att modem file flashed on your device, but im not 100% sure. Ihave my stock rom files from kies and amoung them is my csc file. Keep reading. Get to know your phone.-
Someone please confirm this is the right route and I will share my csc file with you
Start by rooting your phone and getting a custom recovery (Philz). Check the tmobil section of s5 ...

He does not need an AT&T modem flashed on his device. That would most likely result in a brick.
OP: Try dialing *#2263# and make sure automatic is selected. Also go into setting, mobile networks and set it to LTE/GSM/WCDMA

I tried to do LTE only and it has the right network code, but it won't activate. I checked my ATT online profile and it doesn't have a "LTE" data plan and I think that is the problem. I'll try again tomorrow once it takes effect and report back

Ok you need to give ATT the IMEI number from one of their LTE android devices. Just go to the store to get one from one of the demo devices. Then your account will be provisioned for LTE.

The guy above is correct, you need at&t to register your imei into their network to access their LTE.... They should do it for you no problem, just give them a call....however I wouldn't be surprised if they don't! Another way is to find someone with an extra LTE phone and just activate that imei and your LTE should pop up

If he registers his T-Mobile S5 on AT&T he will still have problems. AT&T won't recognize the T-Mobile IMEI number, and therefore it will list as a GSM device.
He needs to find an IMEI number of one of AT&T's LTE android devices. Once he has called AT&T CS and have had them provision his account for LTE, then he can just pop in his AT&T sim card to his T-Mobile S5. He'll get LTE then.

Just wondering where did you unlock the phone from and how long did it take to get the unlock code?
Thanks for everyone's help. I am good to go.
I took a SIM from another LTE device. I think it does need to be registered as a IMEI from an ATT device and that was the problem.

Now that you are getting AT&T LTE on the T-Mobile variant, can you please comment on LTE signal strength? This is a deal breaker for me. When I had the TMO Note 3 on AT&T, LTE reception sucked. If you can compare it with an AT&T branded phone, that would be great.
Another person using the G900T. Congrats
My experience is that coverage is just as good if not better. Same radio, same antenna, I wouldn't expect it to be any different?
The TMO GS5 has all the needed ATT LTE Bands no need for a radio flash, I'm using one on ATT now, have gotten LTE from day 1, as stated only requirement is the sim has to be originally activated on a LTE ATT device and that the APN is set properly.
What kind of speed is everyone getting with the tmo s5 on att network? I have an att s5 next to a tmo s5 and att s5 is getting 50mbps vs tmo at 20mbps. I am wondering if I needed to configure something on the tmo devices?

Check your APN setting. The T-Mobile S5 should have the same exact APN settings your S5 has. Can you also comment on LTE reception on the T-Mobile S5 using AT&t?

APN is exactly the same as AT&T one. Reception is also same as AT&T one but the speed is a show stopper if it's half the speed. Any one have any ideas?

I wouldn't sweat the speeds, unless you keep noticing it. Try again later. Perhaps the T-Mobile S5 needs a modem update? Keep us posted.

I would also like to do this, but I just want to clarify something. I just bought an AT&T S5. Brand new, unopened, still in the box. I want to swap it for a T-Mobile S5, as the bootloader is unlocked. If I keep the AT&T SIM card before I sell it, and put it into the new Tmo S5, will I have any foreseeable issues? Will it work just like that, or will I need to retrieve something from my S5 before I swap it?
Thanks.
EDIT: I should clarify that the device is unactivated, and when I do activate it, I will be porting my existing number from Verizon.

At&t note 3 on sprint service??

I'm trying to use my rooted note 3 (with dynamic kat xtreme rom) on the sprint network. I have tried different combinations of apn settings and still can't get it to work. Anyone have any idea if it's even possible?
Sprint uses CDMA which the att note 3 doesn't support.
Apn settings are for data and MMS only rather than voice.

So I wouldn't be able to use it for voice either?
Voice won't work either because the phone has no ESN which is needed to register the phone on a CDMA network.

Thanks for the replies. You know if it's possible to use an at&t s7 edge with sprint? Or is it the same thing as the note 3?
AT&T and T-mobile phones will not work on CDMA carriers.

So I'm stuck with my sprint carrier phone (iphone). So I'd have to use a sprint phone? What if I buy an unlocked phone from Amazon?
Sprint and Verizon need a phone that supports CDMA as neither carrier has a GSM network.
Some Sprint and Verizon iPhones supports GSM which means they can be used with any North American carrier for voice, data, and text.
Buying an unlocked phone will not help unless it comes from Sprint.
