[Q] setup fc loop when installing gapps on cm7 - Nexus One Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

i dont think ive ever been able to flash the gapps on a cm7 nightly build and have them work. after flashing cm7, i reboot, then go back to recovery and flash the gapps zip. everytime after it reboots, it gets stuck in a setup wizard fc loop. after that i usually just go back to a nandroid backup and forget about messing with it. anyone have an idea what the problem might be?

Did you check md5 for the gapps package or even just redownload them??

[SOLVED]Self-rebooting nexus one :(:( any fix?

First off: one dumb question: does different rom need an updated Google Apps package?
Here's what happened: I was running CM6.1 with iNexus theme, everything was fine. Then Cm7 RC2 came out, I thought since it's a RC it should be stable enough for everyday use. So I installed CM7 RC2 using clock work recovery. Installation went fine. booted up and running. Then i installed iNexus theme for it. iNexus theme developer clearly stated that I should use RA recovey instead of clockworkmod. so i flashed RA recovery. once again it was just fine: booted up and running. Then i noticed I had no Google Apps working, i figured I forgot to flash Gapps package. I went back to recovery and flashed the zip. I thought since both RA and clockwork are custom recoveries, they should do just about the same as each other => RA 2.2.1 was used to flash Gapps package. Here's what I think that keeps my phone from rebooting all by itself over and over: The Gapps package i used was the old one that i downloaded the same time I downloaded CM6.1. I thought that since they're all Google Apps, they're just getting installed but nothing else. Now my phone just boots up to the Welcome page where it asks if you want to learn how to use your nexus one, the phone will then reboots back into the bootanimation after like 3 seconds showing the welcome page.
I did do a backup using clockworkmod, not RA recovery so I can not restore.
Anybody ever ran into this situation before??? HELP!!!! T_T
CM7 have a different gapps package, the one for CM6 will not work.
Theres a small gapps package that will work with both cwm and amon ra. if not you'll have to make sure the gapps your flashing is compatible with the recovery you're using.
umh...since i can't boot the phone into work. so I'm gonna download another Gapps and put it on my sd card then I'll flash it...maybe that'll work? hopefully!
Can you still boot into recovery?
I would do this
put the following files on your sd card
1-temasek extreme wipe file
2-cm7 ROM your choice of RC2 or nightlies
3-CM7 Gapps
Than flash them in that order
i'll be right back with some links
Get gapps here for CM7 http://forum.cyanogenmod.com/topic/15767-cyanogenmod-7-for-nexus-one-v700-rc2-3072011/
Actually there's a new GB Gapps package, let me find that link
Get temasek's extreme wipe here http://www.mediafire.com/?bxfijcp6f6bf1me
Flashing the Extreme wipe will lessen the headache of "little" things that could go wrong.
Also recommend you sticking with Amon Ra, too much problems with CWM lately
uh.... some of the apps don't work??? is it supposed to be like that? Neither Market or Youtube or GTalk work ^^!
No problems here, all apps working for me. You flashed the right gapps?

[Q] Rom Manager Will Not Run

I deleted my Rom Manager in an attempt to refresh and install the pro version. I did this by using the force uninstall from TB, which actually did not remove it, but then I did remove it normaly via the TB remove app feature (not force uninstal). Now when I try install the rom, it will not load. I do not get any errors when I try to install it. It is just is not there / cant be seen by any app or in a directory. Any suggestions on how to fix this??? Are there any alternative apps???
Just fyi - I am also unable to install the latest CM7 version. It gets to the CM7 boot screen, but hangs on it ofr more than an hour with no progress. Just fro clarification, I have since reloaded the latest CM6 version, to see if Rom Manager would install, but it still wouldn't.
Current phone is a Sprint Hero, running the latest CM6 Version.
when you reloaded CM6, did you restore a backup or did you wipe everything and reload a fresh image?
I had a problem using ROM Mgr when I tried to flash the recovery. Ended up it wouldn't boot into recovery and after that it wouldn't flash the recovery anymore. I was able to flash the alternate ra recovery, wipe factory data/cache & davlik cache, reload clean CM6.1 with latest gapps. Still the ROM Mgr was goofy. I used the fix permissions tool in ROM Mgr and it finally allowed me to flash the CWM recovery (2.5.0.7) successfully and reboot into recovery mode. Maybe the fix permissions or making sure everything (besides your SD card) is wiped would help? Or, try using the ra recovery to load your CM7 image (not sure if that is supported).

You need to do a full wipe of absolutely everything and then update your recovery image. Do a fresh download(try from a mirror) of the latest CM7 version. Make sure that everything is fully wiped and you wipe your system, cache, data and davlik-cache. Do the wipe TWICE.
Once you are flashing CM7, make sure you only flash the rom first and then boot up and see if it goes through.
Thanks for the info, Waffle_.. So to just clarify... I need to:
1. wipe everything twice
2. get a fresh download of cm7
3. then install cm7
What do you mean by "Once you are flashing CM7, make sure you only flash the rom first" -- Like make sure it boots up before installing anything else????
Thanks!

Yes.
Meaning, when you flash the rom, don't flash gapps or anything else. Flash the rom only, then reboot and make sure it runs. And then you can go back and flash gapps, etc.

[Q] unable to restore from CWM

So I got following problem:
I was on Slim 3.2, did a cwm backup and wanted to upgrade to 3.3.
Probably it was a bad download or something, because I got stuck at the boot animation.
After I wanted to restore my backup I didnt even get into recovery, so I did a clean install with odin on 2.3.6.
Then I flashed cm9 to try restoring my data again, same problem.
I tried to restore my data several times, from cm9, from slim 3.2, but every time I get stuck on boot animation. Once I even let it sit for 40 minutes.
While restoring everything seems fine. Checking MD5 sums, erasing boot before restore, restoring boot image, system, data, datadata.
But then it says that .android_secure.img wasn't found, so it just skipped that and completed the restoration.
Reboot and stuck on boot anim.
Anyway to fix that? I'd be really gratefull if I got my app data back
flash darky xxjvu-re through odin heres a video showing a guide it not jvu its 10.2 re,same thing this will restore your phone ie get it working again
http://www.youtube.com/user/puggereduk
What to do when I got Darkys Rom on my phone?
Darky install the latest kernel, and then restore..
I think your problem is solved
Flashed Darky with Odin, flashed semaphore1.0 to get a more recent cwm and then restored my backup.
Now, every time I start my phone I get to cwm. If I choose reboot I get into cwm again.
What do now?

Issue after flashing my Spice dream uno. Please Help

So I flashed twrp 3.0 in my phone and flashed the latest cm 13 nightly and open gapps, everything goes fine but after booting during the configuration wizard itself play services and play store keeps crashing (says stopped working).
I tried flashing cm13 snapshot build, Ressurection remix, tried open gapps, slimgapps, agapps,Bank's gapps. It still keeps saying "Unfortunately, the app has stopped working".
I tried flashing cm13,wiping cache, flashing gapps, still gives the same issue.
I tried flashing CM13 alone without gapps, During this it says music stopped working. when i open browser it FCs too.
This is messed up :/
I think the issue is somewhere else
Please help me sort this out, Thanks!
Try in this order
Flash CM13, flash any custom kernal that supports cm13 (Check zeus), flash su zip to root, flash gapps. After flashing in this order. reboot.
Didnt help :/
Almost all system apps force closes. (browser, camera, music, etc)
I think there is some problem with the partitions :/
Help
Update:
I have not inserterd my sdcard all this time and it caused the issue.
I inserted my sdcard back and everything came working fine.
Didnt think a simple sdcard could cause such a big problem -_-

Having some issues installing Gapps on a new phone. I keep getting the error message.

Hi friends. I got the phone today. I unlocked the boot loader, installed TWRP and flashed Cyanogenmod 13 snapshot. No problems with all this.
When I try to install a Gapps package, all I get when I boot it up is the message "unfortunately setup wizard has stopped". If I press OK, the message comes back within half a second. I tried the stock, micro, mini and pico package from Open Gapps all with the same result. The Pure Nexus Dynamic Gapps does the same thing.
I cant figure out what I'm doing wrong here. Help me please

what you're doing wrong is flashing CM..
I kid really, after flashing the gapps, and you get that error, go back and wipe data. OR.. try it this way. before you flash cm, but after downloading the ROM and gapps, wipe system and data. you will not be able to boot after this until you flash your ROM, that's because you wiped your ROM off your phone.
I flashed both CM and gapps at the same time and it worked.
What should I use instead of CM then? I want something that looks like stock but has a bunch of options to tweak the settings. I like battery time

I'm using pure nexus ROM, what you use is purely choice. but I find that I'm much happier with pure nexus than with cm.
