good day everyone..i have a noob question my System ROM 275.mb 100% used omb free what is this means..will it affect my phone performance if i have a 0mb free..how can i free up space in this system rom,,
use android assistant(market) and clean up rom time to time.. also use it to see the running processes, check for useless processes that suck ur battery, either uninstall those apps or use titanium nackup and freeze the unwanted applications from running..

hi guyz
so i installed the WM6.1 version of paradox (heavy)
and ive installed software on it thru updater and i didnt know that it was installing on phone so i uinstalled all software and re-installed them on MMC thru several options but it still keeps eating up all my space on phone
before i had at least 75MB now i only have 45MB left and no matter what i try it doesn't clear out the space
could you plz help to point me towards whats eating up all that space and how to clear it. thanks
uninstall programs? That can be an option and reinstall them in your sd card instead.
already tried still hogging up space
Clear temp internet files?
done that as well dont work
its only problem with paradox rom after i installed apps on my phone mem instead of mem card by mistake and uninstalled em and memory didnt clear
every time i do a nandroid and then a titanium restore on my phone with data, it says im low on space. the apps are all on my memory card and not my phone. one of the culprits seems to be the dalvic cache in the root of the phone. i deleted that as a test run and it freed up loads of space. however i ran into alot of force closes. i tried restarting my phone to see if it would restore the data in boot but it then got stuck in a boot loop and wouldnt load into home.
any help over whats the best course of action for things like this?
ive since then done another restore and deiced to only restore the user installed apps (no data) and then go through the ones i need the data restored on. could titanium be installing old data to my phone thats not needed, thus filling up my phone with data from unused apps?
If you are runing on low data space, a possibility would be to move dalvik cache to sd, as you have done with your apps. It will probably slow down a bit your phone, but will will free some space on the phone's internal memory. Look for firerat's all-in-one script and enable the d2x option.

to be honest, i want that to be my last ever option. i like to be able to use my phone at a quicker pace. but may try it later if i cannot find any other options.

You can also move data to sd-card (ddb - option), but for me the performance went down much more than with dc2x. Finding a different solution will be difficult, because dalvik-cache for me has already a size of about 75MB (system apps + gapps + some apps installed). Data for apps are about 30MB. Even with CustomMTD there is not much space left to use, especially when you consider that the performance of the phone will decrease notifically when free internal space goes below 15MB. I am running with dc2x option and I have an acceptable performance. I suggest you to give it a try.
main thing i wanna know is this however. if i have old data on my titanium back ups from apps that are no longer installed. will titanium put that data back on the phone, even if its application/s have been removed from the back up?
decided use the script after all.
thanks for the info AndDiSa
I use Titanium Backup PRO and it tells me that my system rom has 285MB and I only have 4.75MB FREE...what uses this space and how do I get more FREE? I have tried uninstalling several applications but that number doesn't change.
Internal: 1.98GB 1.48 Free
DB dataa; 132 MB 1.48GB Free
SD card: 13.9 GB 11.2 GB Free
Ext SD card: 15.9 GB 15.5 Free
The system ROM: seems to be the only one almost out of space. Can someone tell me what to do?
Thanks

system ROM would be anything under /system
apps that are included under /system/app, lib files, config files
basically it DOESNT matter that its almost out, you DONT need to be installing stuff to system. if you are stock, you can uninstall some of the bloat, or if your rom builder put everything in /system/app/ you can try converting some of them to user apps using titanium backup. do not go willy nilly converting everything to user apps, you will kill your rom and it will probably cause you to have to reload it.
dont know why you think you need more space though.

Thank you for your response I appreciate your time and sharing of your knowledge.
I was concerned because when I go to the market place to install something it tells me that I don't have enough space but if I reboot I can then install. So I looked in TB to see what kind of space I was out of and didn't know about that System ROM space. I am rooted and have a AT&T Samsung Captivate Galaxy S with android 2.2. I have all the AT&T stuff frozen I think.
Thanks again

when you download stuff from the market, it installs to /data/app
nothing should be getting installed to /system at all
hey guys,
installed Cm10 rom+gapps, then after successfull boot i installed , Adaway, Droidwall, Gmail, Titanium Backup and Titanium Backup Por, now i can't install apps neither with google play nor with titanium.
It always says "not enough space"(in german "nicht genug speicher"), but in titanium i can see that system rom has 1.18 gb free and internal+media 500 mb free and ext Sd 400b free.
Mhm partition may be bricked..., can't restore nand backup and every other ROM I tried has now the same error
Even rooted factory reset root stock rom... Though I can't install a single app now
Need help
regards,
my mobile hangs when performs very simple tasks..may be it is due to system memory..
which is 770 KB left...basically it is 100% full
Is there any effective way by which I can delete some files which will not effect my mobile or any other way..please help
(or system memory doesnt effect performance at any cost?)
I m using CyanogenMod 10.1 modded for Galaxy Ace

BTW it was working ok in the beginning..
Did you moved some app's or something else into /system or was there always that much space left?
Sent from my GT-S5830 using xda app-developers app
no ..I didnt on my own..I have 2GB SD card with 512 MB Ext partition..and link2sd link all the apps there..
As all I remember is 8-9 days after this rom there was more than 1% of memory..(dont know what was there in the beginning)
Clean all the chaches and the useless Dalvik cache with Titanium Backup. Than re-link all the apps and libs. I think is the best you can do. Maybe install tasker and automate this process
